Great Chromebook for kids
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Included- notebook, power cord, a Wacom EMR stylus pen, and travel case. 1 year warranty on parts and labor. When I unboxed the Acer Chromebook, I was impressed with it's look. It has a nice textured design on the cover. It gives it a stylish look. But when you pop it open, the keyboard and interior feel a bit cheap. The hinges seem to be a good quality. They are not too tight nor too loose. It's easy to swing it open and closed and holds it's position well. It will flip and fold into 5 different modes depending on your needs. I was also very impressed with the really nice sleeve it came with. It's a beautiful gray color, has a large zippered pocket to put the charging cord and stylus in, and has a padded foam interior. The 11.6" display size floats between a very large tablet and a small laptop. It feels somewhat clunky, heavy and thick, especially in the tablet mode. It's more forgiving when used in the other positions. It weighs just under 3 pounds but it seems pretty heavy to me, especially given it does not have any CD/DVD drive. it does include a webcam, headphone jack, micro SD card reader, and USB port. The Acer Chromebook Spin 11 is a great device to have in the house for your kids. It has all the functionality of a computer but can also be used as a tablet with it's touch screen capabilities. That is our main purpose for owning this. The kids will be able to do school work, watch their youtube videos, and my daughter is even learning to type on it. Another awesome feature it has that I wish every laptop had was the ability to charge the device on either the left or right. That's so important depending on your access to a power source. We get about 8 hours on a full charge. There is not much storage on the Chromebook with only 4GB so you will need to rely on other sources like Google drive. Now, I also own a Google Pixelbook Chromebook. I do prefer that one over this Acer for my own personal use. But the price point is so much higher than this Acer. It's not worth the extra money for something my kids will use for some basic functions. If you want something that is affordable and versatile for your household, this is a good device to own. It's not as light, powerful or capable as other laptops but it is good for what it offers.

If you like google apps, you’ll love this laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a college student in my third year, and I felt that this laptop worked wonders considering it’s very low price. It comes with a free stylus and case, which you won’t find in a Windows or Mac laptop. Battery life worked pretty well considering the size and value of the computer. I was able to go a few days without charging my Chromebook. I loved how natural the free stylus felt when writing on different apps, and there were absolutely no problems turning it from a laptop into a tablet. You do need a google account to set up and log in, but it takes less than 5 minutes to set up. HOWEVER, I gave the laptop a four because of the applications. Do check if the google play store has the apps you need for school before purchasing this laptop. Since the Chromebook is android, it’s windows program is an online version, so word and onenote do not work the same as they would normally. I ended up returning my acer because I needed a specific statistics program for one of my courses that is not accommodated by the google play store. One last thing to keep in mind is the Chromebook is incredibly internet based, so having a solid internet connection is pretty essential to running some, but not all, of the apps on this Chromebook.

Great Laptop For College
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just bought the Acer Chromebook Spin 11 yesterday and I already love it! I've had an older HP Chromebook for about 5 years and I decided I wanted to upgrade to make it easier to do my work for college. Being able to flip the screen 360 degrees is a great feature, and the touchscreen is awesome too. I love that I can download apps from the Google Play Store just like I would on my phone or tablet and they run great. This laptop is also really lightweight and thin which makes it easy to carry around. Plus it comes with it's own little case that holds the laptop and also has an extra storage compartment in the front. The stylus is one of my favorite features so far. It works great and even if your hand is touching the screen at the same time the stylus still works perfectly. It's also pressure sensitive which I noticed when I tried out an app for drawing. There's no place to store the stylus on the laptop itself, but it does come with a little band for it that you can stick onto the side of laptop and slide the stylus through. Overall this is an awesome laptop and a great value for the price. It's perfect for a college student like myself.

Great Product
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Chromebook packs plenty of features that make this a hidden gem. When I opened this product, I was surprised to discover that it comes packed with a nice carrying case, as well as a Wacom stylus pen. The Wacom pen works very well, there is a hint of lag, but overall it does the job very nicely. The back of the pen has an eraser that works very well, it makes a nice addition to the pen. The screen is very responsive and durable, as it's made out of corning gorilla glass. The resolution is very clear and colorful, Videos as well as HD images look very good on this screen. The amount of ram and processing power that is packed in this little machine, is just enough to play some of the most demanding android games found on the play store. The speakers are also very impressive, as they are very clear and loud. Overall, I would say this is a fantastic Chromebook that has all the necessary features and then some. I would definitely recommend this product.

Above Average but not Mid-tier either
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had the 2 in 1 do all my work and school related assignments. Did not have any issues. However, up until recently the device has been running less than efficient, not sure what is the case, I did perform a power wash and still runs as if something is slowing it down. Good for basic work and homework, bad for more intense performance i.e. gaming, streaming and editing.

Great laptop all around
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did hours of research trying to find a laptop that would suit my needs as a student that would also be good for web browsing and watching netflix, hulu, amazon prime, etc. I eventually decided to go into a best buy store, and this laptop hadn't even crossed my mind during my research. I was looking at a cheaper acer chromebook as well as a samsung one and a couple hp laptops. I saw this one and tested it out, and absolutely loved the feel and look of it compared to the others. It looks very sleek, feels nice and smooth when typing and using the track pad, and has a very nice screen display and touch capabilities. I've been using it for about a week now, testing its capabilities. It runs very smooth and quick for the price, no doubt about it. The speaker sound is loud and clear enough for videos, the screen display is great for watching movies and tv on it, and it still feels like a high end laptop. If you run too many apps and web pages and try to load them up at the same time then it can get a bit slow, but that's expected. There have also been a couple applications like facebook and hulu that are buggy, I'm not sure if that has to do with the computer or just the app not being compatible with the computers software. But those sites work perfect on the chrome browser so it doesn't bother me. I love the chrome operating system as well, very easy to use while also having a lot of customization and practical capabilities that other operating systems lack. If you are looking for a chromebook, look no further. Get this one. It even comes with a stylish protective case and a stylus pen. Couldn't ask for anything more.

Absolutely delighted
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can't tell you how delighted I am with this Chromebook and how glad I bought this instead of spending 3 times as much on a regular Windows laptop. I use it for writing (I use Word on my office 365 subscription but honestly I might dump that for Google Docs eventually), email, and streaming music and podcasts. It is perfect. Starts up almost instantly with no noise, no heat, none of the drama you get with a windows machine. It is fast. I can't out type it. And it is designed to work totally seamlessly with gmail and google drive. Plus did I mention it is cute? I love that the screen folds round and becomes a tablet. I'm just in love with this thing.

Affordable and Functional
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My old laptop finally died and I needed a replacement for work-related travel. I was debating between a gaming laptop and a simple one for light productivity and entertainment. I researched how the Chromebook platform has matured and decided to be frugal and try one out. The Acer Spin 11 provides a ton of value for the money. Between the offline Chromebook apps and the Android apps I can accomplish everything I need from editing documents to streaming entertainment. The included stylus works well, but I mostly use it for doodling, For the money, this Chromebook has exceeded my expectations and I have no complaints.

Chromebook seems good - Chrome OS not so much
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The actual laptop seems well built, and has a nice look / feel. Screen bright with good colors. Keyboard seems to have little flex, and the key action feels good. One con is this could really benefit with backlit keys. Overall, the hardware seems very good. It is a real plus that most android apps will run on Chrome OS, and games run well. But I would point out, that it may not be for everybody. There seems to be no ability to move / install apps to the micro SD card, and even had some issues getting pre-installed apps to "see" or access music and pictures on SD card. I had to install a file manager to do that. Be sure to get the largest internal storage available. And last, I have an almost identical laptop running Win 10 - same manufacturer, same ram, same storage, similar processor, etc. I find the Chrome seems no faster on boot, and actually seems a bit more choppy when scrolling web pages. And, can install apps to micro SD card! I would recommend if Chrome is your cup of tea

Excellent
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first Chromebook. First impressions compared to others on display. It’s form factor. Looks sturdy. Light and pleasing to the eye. When I opened up the box to my surprise there was a case and a stylus. So far it’s been doing a great job. I’m not a super user. For email and surfing excellent. I use google apps for everything else. Overall great buy

Two lemons in 60 days
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased an Acer Spin 11 for our daughter's birthday and discovered after about two days of usage that the battery was a lemon: it didn't fully charge, and rather than 9-10 hours of battery life, it routinely estimated only 5 or less. As the machine was still within the retailer's return period, we returned it for a new machine, same model. Now, after just under 60 days of use, the mouse on the new machine has stopped working, meaning that we have to navigate using the touchscreen only. I've tried rebooting the computer but it still doesn't load the mouse/pointer. I just got off live chat with an Acer technician and was given the standard company talking points: no refunds or exchanges. Our only option is to return the computer to the manufacturer so it can be repaired. Now, if this were a year or more after the purchase, I could understand doing that, but we're talking two machines down in 60 days and the company response is just standard operating procedure. I can't recommend this product nor can I speak highly of Acer's commitment to customer satisfaction. One would think that after two clear manufacturer errors the company would make an effort to maintain customer satisfaction or loyalty, but they missed that boat. All we're getting is a shipping label. Folks, two lemons in 60 days and a shipping label as a solution--look elsewhere for that starter Chromebook.

Waste of money!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just bought this yesterday and thought I was getting a good deal. Reviews looked good and employees recommended this one for my school needs and wants. Got it home, charged it, it didn't want to turn on. After trying to figure it out, it turned on. The touch screen worked when it wanted to. I tried using the pen it comes with, what a piece of JUNK. The sensors or whatever the pen is powered with do not agree with the computer. The touch screen does not respond to the pen, the pen doesn't work. I tapped all over the screen and nothing. I turned the blazer pointer setting on for the pen to see if the computer was reading it and it was. But as soon as the pen made it's way towards the middle of the screen it would freak out and the lazer pointer would jump all over the screen. I mainly bought this chromebook to take notes with the pen during class and student teaching. That expectation is over now. I used it to search other laptops and while searching the screen started to scroll up and down on it's own without me even touching the device. I thought maybe the pen was making it go crazy because it was sitting right next to the chromebook, so I put the pen on the other side of the room and it still scrolled up and down on it's own. I spent $304 on something I was promised would be great. Now I'm on my way back to Best Buy today to return it. Very angry, frustrated, and broke. Do not purchase this. You'll be sorry.

Seems great, but the one I received was defective
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very hesistant about getting a Chromebook, but the Spin 11 seemed to fit all my needs. It's great if you just plan to browse the web, watch movies, and write documents. It seemed like a great product, but after a day of use it would flicker nonstop about 3 times a day and wouldn't stop unless I closed the lid and opened up the Chromebook again. I tried powerwashing and reinstalling Chrome OS, but the flickering continued after a few hours. I exchanged it for another Acer Spin 11, but I had the same issue after a few days. If not for those issues, I would have given it 5 stars.

didn't last a month
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Based on specs and inclusion of a pen, this chromebook seemed like it would be fine for the kids first computer and school. However it starting making an electrical buzz sound when charging and would no longer charge or hold a charge less than 4 weeks after purchase (but more than 15 days, unfortunately past BB return policy). I called Acer who provided free FedEx shipping to "fix". Apparently they are aware of the issue. Sent in on Wed. They will receive Monday. So, the kids will have to wait to use their computer for school. Hope it isn't long and we get a working computer back that doesn't malfunction again in the foreseeable future.

Poor Experience - Not Worth It
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The OS is clunky, Seems very under-developed. The apps clearly run in an Android Emulator. I'd rather have a tablet with a keyboard case. I can honestly do the same work if not more, more efficiently and pain free on my PHONE! This honestly feels like a nerfed tablet experience. Hardware wise, the touchscreen SUCKS! I can't stress this enough. The touch screen SUCKS! It feels fairly solid but fully plastic, no shade here. I bought this to chow through emails when I'm on the plane or have a quick moment and didn't want to full boot my windows laptop just to respond with attachments. I will be returning this! I should've bought the $109 Dell for low-end functionality. This is NOT worth $300. Seriously, your phone is more powerful. No actually, your phone processor is legitimately better.

So disappointed!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this last September (so, it's only 7 months old) and within the first two weeks the screen started glitching. Best Buy was awesome and swapped it out for a new one (thanks, Best Buy!). I only use it about once a week (unless I'm traveling, then I use it daily) so I turn it OFF after every use. Yet, the last two times, when I tried to use it, the battery was DEAD. Why is it, it can't hold a charge when it's not even being used?!?! I'm so terribly disappointed. I love this thing, and it's breaking my heart that this model is such a lemon. :-(

1st one died within 14 days/2nd one within 21 days
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for my high schooler and it stopped turning on within 14 days so was able to do an even exchange. The 2nd one now has the same problem as the first one. However, we are outside of the return policy (21 days old) so our only option is to send it in to Acer for repair. How are students supposed to get their homework done when it will be out of commission for at least 2 weeks?!?! Have lost all confidence in Acer after a 2nd Chromebook failed in such a short period of time. Too bad they aren’t willing to do the right thing and provide a refund. Save yourself the inconvenience and go with a different brand.

Multiplayer Hardware Issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This new Chromebook has required repair twice in as many months now, and Acer is very difficult to work with. They require that you send the computer to them and it takes weeks to get it back. With a persistent flaw like this that is an unacceptable inconvenience. My daughter is in online classes and requires a device for school.
