    Hardware issue with touchscreen

I got this Chromebook for my elementary school aged kids. Overall, I would say that Chromebooks are great for a child's needs (the under 10 age group). However, I do not like this particular product for the following reasons: 1) Right out of the box, it started having this 'ghost touches' issue. After intense googling, I found out it was most likely a hardware issue. I tried Geeksquad and was told the same. However, I can't do an exchange given that stores are closed due to the virus, so I will have to use it without touchscreen mode until they reopen 2) 4GB memory is not enough. The machine is sluggish. Even though it has more features being a laptop than a tablet, I found myself going back to my iPad a lot because iPads are so much more responsive. This machine reacts slowly in everything, from moving your cursor, typing, moving between apps, etc. overall, if you are looking for a Chromebook for basic needs or for a child, I would recommend getting one, just not this one. The large 15.6" screen size is nice, but for the same money, I would pick a smaller screen with higher specs (especially more RAM).

The Chrome Book is probably a fine machine, but we didn't understand its limitations. Buyer's remorse? Probably.

    Big screen Chromebook

I've owned a number of chromebooks overs the years, and I had started to assume they were all small, underpowered, plasticky things. This computer puts the lie to those assumptions. This is a positively huge screen for a chromebook. So big, that I think most apps and webpages don't make full use of it. This is the first chromebook I had to actually magnify the resolution on, because at native scaling, the type was actually too small. That also means the case is quite big, and I think a little bigger than it needed to be. Even with that huge screen, there's still a sizable bezel around the edges, so don't expect this to fit in average-sized laptop bags. However, this looks really nice sitting on a desk. The polished metal bevels around the edges of the case and the trackpad really give it a more refined look. Even there though, it looks like space could have been saved without sacrificing any features. There's plenty of room on the outer sides of the dual speakers, which themselves are on the sides of the keyboard. The keyboard itself is also a step up from the average chromebook. The chicklet keys have a good touch to them, and they're backlit. So, great desktop machine, but I think they could have shaved an inch off the case dimensions in either direction without sacrificing anything.

The first one was defective, so Best Buy replaced it without a hassle. The unit itself would be a great deal except it comes set up to deliver ads on your screen whenever your in the middle of doing something. Then it took an operating system update that prevents it from printing properly resulting in a lot of wasted time without resolution.

This is my 4th chromebook. Even though the others are all still working fine -----> I just like them! However, this is the first one that "feels good". In saying that, I am 6'4 with larger than normal hands. And to me, the touch-screen and ability to go into tablet mode feels better to me than their previous smaller screen options. Whilst this isn't a pixel-book (as far as tricked-out specs) - this model is definitely sufficent for daily use. The quad core pentium, the 4gb of RAM all make this machine fly! If this is your first chromebook you can also get 100gb of extra cloud storage to go along with the 32gb onboard, and 15gb of google-drive storage. The chrome-OS in my opinion has improved leaps and bounds. The ability to now use the playstore without any bugs (that i've noticed) as well as the new beta linux integration (command line only) now brings the OS closer and closer to a daily driver. I'm a nerd (no shame in admitting it), and when the wife comes home at night, I grab this device if there are any emergent needs to take care of. I haven't used the webcam (on any device they freak me out, so not a chrome dependant sort of thing). The sound is great with top facing speakers. For those that needlessly ask "Can I run office on this" the answer is yes.. .Sort of. You can either opt for the android version of the office apps, or use office online. The screen IS HD. I had to tweak the setting a bit, as at the default the text is a bit too small. Another nice feature is the "night time" mode that will reduce blue light. I feel that at its price-point and its impressive performance, it would be the perfect chromebook for those that are either curious about them, or want to leave the other major OS (you know the one). So yes, this chromebook (to me) "ticks all the boxes". And most likely, will for you too!

Excellent value if this fits your lifestyle. Cloud based computing has taken over and this chromebook has all the best features. Beautiful screen, great battery life, backlit keyboard, good speakers, very fast web browsing and fast updates. I could go on but for 399.00 to get a computer you don't have to worry about virus issues, embedded cookies, etc this is worth price of admission. Very fast today and will be very fast in 3 years. I have an external ssd terrabyte hard drive for anything relevant I don't want to lose or have to pay for in the future. I use as a desktop for many applications. Google photos, docs, You Tube, Spotify etc. Excellent product with a beautiful display, fast and reliable wifi reception and portable when you need it to be.

Great Multi Purpose Acer Spin Chromebook

My first time in the Chromebook arena and I must admit that I am sorry that I did not try one out sooner. It was such a quick setup with an easy sync process and Google App installation. It has a very sleek feel and touch of backlit keyboard. This Acer Spin Chromebook has everything right there at your fingertips to keep you entertained for hours on end with excellent battery life.....Music streaming, movies, games, books with 360 flexible 2 in 1 tablet mode and cast option without the weight of a 15.6 laptop. The speakers that are on each side of keyboard give out amazing bass sound. The keypad navigation is really smooth and effortless with Touch-Screen in viewing sites. I found the Acer Spin Chromebook 2 in 1 15.6 Touch-Screen features more than satisfied my needs for everyday use and dependability.

Just spent a day setting everything up, turned itself off randomly multiple times. Googled it and found this to be an issue going back to 2011 with their Chromebooks, with various suggestions, none of which solved it for everyone, like resetting the battery, updating the BIOS, restoring to factory reset, jamming something into the power button area (you have to open up the machine for that). Really? I have had the machine a few days and I am supposed to send it in for repairs? Why doesn't ACER own up to this issues and post a fix anywhere? Super frustrating! Thank goodness for best buy's 15-day return policy. Now I cannot trust another ACER at all.

I bought the Acer chromebook it took a week to receive it. Upon delivery it would NOT turn on. I called Acer they wanted me to send it in for warranty. which would take an additional 2 weeks to get back a repaired chromebook when I paid for a new one. I called best buy and they were great offered to exchange it for a new one. I ended up spending a little extra money and going with the HP 2in1 14" chromebook. I am very happy with the upgrade.

This was great for a few months. My son got it after being sent home when schools closed due to COVID in March. He used it frequently throughout April and May. After that, he rarely used it. His school gave him a chrome book they wanted him to use when he started back in the fall. I tried to use it the other day and realized it won’t charge. I bought a new charger but that also wouldn’t work. It seems to be the input for the charger. It’s loose or bent or something. Such a bummer.
