It is a very ok laptop, nothing special except the OLED display which is probably one of the best I've seen. The new series 2 Intel Ultra CPU is pretty disappointing, along with the performance of the 140v iGPU, the drivers and the 16gb ram. The battery life was about 8 hours watching YouTube and playing around using a couple programs, which is quite horrible considering the advertised battery life. I wouldn't recommend this laptop unless it was below $600 tbh.

    Excellent Screen and Size

I have had several Acer PCs over the years and all typically were a good value and very reliable. I have been looking for OLED laptops that had good battery life and did not weigh too much. The screen on the swift 16 is near perfect. It is high resolution and has a minimal boundary. It is quite bright and is calibrated to the true 500 standard. Despite being 16 inches diagonally, the laptop is still easy to carry with one hand. It has an excellent stiff frame, partially built from aluminum which courses through the top and bottom. The top portion with the screen is very stiff, but very thin. There is no bending or deformity of the screen. There is a small raised area for microphones and a WebCam. The WebCam is good, but not up to the quality of say a dedicated WebCam as far as color Balance or overexposure. It is adjustable and multiple AI associated tools from the manufacturer. This particular model does not have a physical cover The keyboard is excellent. It could be slightly larger. Has the trackpad section is as large as the keyboard section. There are Number keys, but the arrow keys are not descended below the Spacebar. The trackpad works very well, but is a bit large so unless you are a big fan of gestures, you may find yourself with accidental clicks or drags. They new ultra 7 processor is very quiet and very quick. Despite being an integrated GPU some games play well (despite warnings from steam). There is a copilot key and copilot actually functions, unlike some earlier experience on other computers. I personally find it marginally useful unless you have a specific generative need some of the AI functions can be done without the cloud; however, I continue to be wary of the. Privacy and intellectual property issues that surround some artificial intelligence Programs. If you need a good computer for browsing, office work and light gaming, a 16 inch OLED modern PC is much quicker than those readily available a few years ago. The ports are near perfect with an HDMI (full size) USB on both sides and two thunderbolt ports on the left. The speakers are underneath the unit which when open are lifted slightly off of the desk. They are good but not as good as say an iPad Air or iPad Pro. It is disappointing that many laptops have mediocre sound. These speakers are good enough to watch a movie or listen to background music, but would not be a primary Media player in my opinion.

I was so excited for this laptop as I’ve always used Acers and it was a fancy upgrade. Sad to say I’m returning it for a different brand after only 1 week because the screen is often black upon turning on and the only thing that can fix it is force restarting it several times. Even once it’s up and running, it runs so slow and minor tasks (e.g., turning on the wifi) makes it freeze. So frustrating and very unsatisfied.

I wanted to like this laptop. My Acer Nitro 5 is still going strong after 5 years. While this specs look good, this Swift has 2 big problems. Speaker - my grandkids' toys have better speakers. There is no speaker grill, but the sound comes from inside the case. It must be a button speaker the size of a quarter. Really really bad quality. Next, the screen. Since it is a touch screen, the screen material is HIGHLY reflective. Even with a window behind the screen, it reflected my body and most all the rest of the room. You just can't use this PC in a room with light, unless the brightness is high and your eyes will suffer. For $800, you can do much better. Mine is going back. Keep shopping, Bestbuy has much better.

Capable PC w/Nice Screen & Chassis, OK Keyboard

TLDR: The Acer Swift 16 AI is an outstanding laptop with a beautiful 3K screen, a sleek form factor, and more than capable power. The only thing that I don't like on it is the keypad that has been 'smooshed' on the right-hand side (but I'm not a fan of numpads on laptops in general). For the price, you'd be hard pressed to find as nice of a laptop as the Acer Swift 16 AI. My wife wanted a new laptop for a variety of things (both work and leisure), and she required the laptop to have a LARGE screen (preferably OLED), be lightweight, and it needed a numpad on the keyboard. I ticked off all of those requirements and more with the Acer Swift 16 AI and my wife is super happy with it. I set it up for her and played around a bit on it for this review and here are my highs and lows for this laptop. Highs: 1. Screen: Absolutely beautiful colors, super bright, and inky darks. Plus, the size is top notch for having enough room to work with multiple programs/windows and still be able to read everything. This laptop is almost worth it just because it packs such a nice and large screen at this price point. 2. CPU/GPU: While the Swift 16 AI won't be running AAA games, the ARC graphics chip and the Core Ultra 7 make quick work of a lot of modern games that don't need bleeding edge graphics. After I loaded up Steam to put on her games, I also threw on one of my new ones just to check it out, and even at maxed settings, the Swift stayed quiet and cool. Additionally there were no hiccups in the gameplay. Work programs run flawlessly and switching between programs, even with a few open and music playing, is seamless. 3. Power Brick: Thank you Acer for having just a simple, and small, brick with a single cord. If you could do me a favor and give it retractable prongs, that would make it outstanding! 4. Form Factor: The Acer Swift 16 is WAY lighter than you would expect it to be, and despite that svelte and light frame, it still feels solid to work with and type on. The hinge-side of the screen has two little feet (which I do wish were configured slightly differently since they can catch on things), that help kick the back end of the laptop up to not only allow better airflow but also give a nice typing angle. 5. Trackpad: I know that having a trackpad that actually moves when you press on it would be considered a step back for most since solid trackpads with haptics are the current state-of-the-art, but I actually realized when using the Swift 16 trackpad, that I kinda miss it actually 'clicking'. To me it feels more 'real', and I have not had a single missed click like I have with the solid trackpads. 6. Case: While the case that Acer packs in the box is relatively simple, it's great that right out of the box you have a nice and elegant case to protect your investment. It's perfect for protecting the laptop in larger luggage or for quick jaunts out and about, to say nothing of just keeping your laptop clean and dust free at home. Mids: 1. Webcam: I'm fairly certain that I have some setting done wrong or I'm testing the webcam in bad environments, because I look worse on screen using that thing than I normally do, and that's saying something! Right now, I'm going to just put this in the 'Mids' and not the 'Lows' because there has to be a reason why it is doing that. 2. Audio: While the Swift 16 can get plenty loud, I wouldn't say that the sound is anything to write home about. While it's plenty clear and bright sounding, it lacks punch and may not be the best for gaming or movies (but should be good for most shows). Lows: 1. Numpad: Look, I dislike numpads on laptop keyboards from the jump (they offset the keyboard and trackpad from being centered on the chassis and each other), and I dislike this one even more because it is a 'squished' numpad that doesn't even match the size of the keyboard keys. That last part is great because it keeps the keyboard nice and useful (if off center). But like I said earlier, this was a requirement from my wife, and she is plenty pleased with it, so I'm going to shut up about it now. 2. Junk Software: I finally thought that we had moved past the laptop coming with a bunch of useless software, but Acer seems to have gone back in time a bit and decided to throw a bunch of junk on this thing. Fortunately it is a lot easier now to remove this junk than it was in the olden days, but still. Conclusion: The Acer Swift 16 AI met all of my wife's criteria that she wanted for her new laptop and then some. While there are a few things that I'm not a huge fan of, my wife thinks it is just fine. But the things I DO like are really very good and make the Swift 16 a great value even if it were priced higher than it is. If you can get it on sale, it would be a wicked good deal.

I spent the last 5 days using the Acer Swift 16 laptop. The laptop, keyboard, and mouse pad are dark black in color which gives them a sleek appearance. It is relatively thin and compact which makes it easy to travel with. The laptop is cool to the touch and feels like it is made with a thin lightweight metal. It is a great looking laptop. It is also extremely light weight, which makes it a fantastic traveling laptop. You can take it on the go anywhere and not worry about the added weight in your backpack or computer case. It also comes with a padded case to help protect it on the go, and the case fits easily into a backpack. I love the full screen that Acer offers on this laptop. The screen clarity is extremely sharp and clear. I am especially impressed with the picture resolution on video’s and games. So life like and colorful. This definitely adds to the viewer experience. The screen is also touchscreen, which is great when engaging in games, with Copilot, and other applications. The built in camera and microphone offer good quality sound and video for conference calls and for use with Copilot. With the hardware that comes with this laptop I had no issues running multiple applications at once. There was plenty of memory and processor power and it is a Copilot+ laptop so it is specifically designed for AI tasks. Speaking of power, battery life is pretty good too. I was able to go all day without plugging in and still had battery life to spare. The hard drive has plenty of space, and I will have no issues installing all the applications I will need. As far as software goes, the laptop comes with Copilot, and you can have conversations with Copilot using the built-in microphone. You can select between 4 voices for Copilot to use when it talks. You can also provide your name so that Copilot speaks to you by name. Using Copilot is fun, interactive, and the AI Software is pretty intuitive. It was able to tell me some medical facts about some diseases and go into treatments and things you can do to relieve symptoms. It was not able to provide any websites that you could look at for additional research, but it was still able to provide a good deal of information. I also was not able to get Copilot to help create pictures. You can tell it about an image of something you are thinking about, but it can’t help you create anything visually. I may have to experiment more with this since Microsoft says you can create images with Copilot+ using Image Creator. The background image of Copilot is water, and you are not able to change that setting or picture. I asked Copilot if that was possible, and it said no. I look forward to experimenting more with Copilot in the future to see what I can accomplish with it. While this is a fantastic laptop, there are some cons about it. The location of the speakers wasn’t well thought out. They are to the left and right of the mousepad and are under the laptop and slightly up the sides. This causes the sound to be muffled, which definitely takes away from the experience of listening to music and watching movies and videos. The laptop also does not come with any Microsoft software such as Word, Excel, or PowerPoint. It would be nice to have a one-year subscription, especially since this laptop is at the higher end of the price point. Overall, I am very happy with the laptop and would recommend it to family, friends, and co-workers.

Acer's take on new Intel-based Copilot laptop

Setting up this laptop was very straightforward and quick. It did have a good number of updates to go through and it lost internet connection several times during the updates and setup. I have not experienced another internet connection failure since the set up, so I assume it was Windows and/or driver update related. I was able to quickly install Microsoft Office without issue. This is one of the first Copilot + PCs with Intel’s new Core Ultra 7 processor, touted to have great performance and improved battery life. My experience supports those claims. This laptop is extremely fast and there’s near instantaneous switching among 10 or more open apps. I think part of the strong performance is a result of the 16 of RAM (plus there’s a 1Tb SSD). Also, the internet connection is extremely fast because of the Acer’s Wi-Fi 7 support. The 16” screen size is a reasonable balance between regular “desktop” usage and as a travel laptop. For my previous 13” laptop I always used an external monitor when working from home, but with this Acer larger screen and high quality OLED image, I’m using the external monitor less often. Graphics/colors are vivid, and text is very clear. I fully charged the device and then operated on battery power to test the battery life. After 8 hours including 4 hours of active use, I still had 55% battery life left. After 24 hours with no additional active use, it had 47% life left. At 27 hours with 3 more additional active hours, it was down to 21%. I ran this test with battery saving functionality turned off, so I’m pleased with the battery performance. This laptop comes with a Microsoft Copilot key which takes you directly to a personally tailored home page with topics of interest for you to explore. You can then activate Copilot to answer questions and provide additional information through continuing dialog, either text or voice. This function is easy to use and works well. The keyboard also includes a number pad which is a nice feature if you deal with numbers on a regular basis. I highly recommend the Acer Swift laptop.
