    Cutting the Cable TV Cord

    I suppose my expectations for this visit were too high. It wasn't an installation. I was planning to cut the cable tv cord and start streaming. I wanted the Geek squad to evaluate my current internet setup and make recommendations to improve speed. They were in my home less than 10 minutes. I had purchased a new router from Best Buy in anticipation I needed one. Rather than installing it they sent me to Frontier for a new router and I returned the one to Best Buy. With the new Frontier supplied router I have seen no improvement.

    After purchasing a Samsung 65" UHD TV in December, I had recurring problem with the picture coming on but no sound. At first I was told by Geek squad that I needed a new HDMI cable. I replaced the cable, but that did not fix the problem. Then I was told it was probably the AT&T set top box. Had AT&T replace the box, but problem still not fixed. Then I was told it was probably my old sound system. So I replaced it with a Samsung sound bar. Problem still not fixed. I asked the tech if it could be the One Connect box that the TV used. Was told probably not but he did agree to order a new one. Had another Tech out the following week to reconnect the black box. So far, that seems to have fixed the problem.
