I really really want to become a Photoshop wiz. I like the idea of making my new photos pop. But I was always intimated by Photoshop, so I thought I would give Elements a try thinking it was the "beginners" version of Photoshop. Well, I think it is, but it is still difficult to use for those with little to no experience with any photo editing programs. After installing the software, you are given no instructions. You have to kind of click around to navigate the menus. What I did is click "on Guided" mode and I was able to edit my photos. The coolest thing I did was Photoshop a face onto another photo. It was surprisingly easy. Once you run through the guided mode, things get easier. You can also utilize the walk through videos which are helpful, but you're better off going on YouTube and watch instructional videos. Elements also acts as a photo organizer, but I didn't try it out, all of my photos are kept on Google Photos so I don't need another program to organize my photos. I just download the photos that I need/want to Photoshop. It's a great, powerful photo editing software. But you must put in the time. If you don't think you're patient enough to teach yourself, this may not be for you. Just know you'll have to teach yourself.

Installation was straightforward and quick, offered to download from the CD, or download from web. I was able to edit photos and videos pretty easily by adjusting the white balance, color, saturation, etc... also able to fix smiles, closed eyes, skin blemishes, adding embossing, motion blur, photo painting, adding custom frames, etc. I also like that I can tag the photos, using the "Smart tags" feature. this makes searching and finding specific images a breeze. Very easy to share pics straight from the software to social media.

Good but not for huge numbers of pics

Good full-featured software for home use -- it has lots of great and very accessible picture editing features, and it has some good capabilities for searching, grouping, and organizing pictures. I came across a big weakness -- over the years I've amassed a huge number of pictures, and with all the different devices I've used, and the different cloud services, I know I have lots of duplicates. It's great that this can pull pics from various locations, but working with more than 10,000 pictures, the software so far just grinds to a crawl when I try to search and organize, and it doesn't have any tool to identify and remove duplicates. So -- I'd recommend it if you aren't overloaded with pictures.

    Difficult to activate

This app is difficult to activate if you're installing it to use on a computer without an internet connection. I assumed it would be rather easy since the installation disk provides the serial number. Unfortunately, it asks me to sign in to my Adobe account. Since I'm installing it on a computer without internet access, it as the option to generate a code based off the serial number. The instructions they provide are not accurate. It states the user will see a link to generate a code during setup or on the application screen. There is no such link. The app also takes a long time to install, and it takes a long time to uninstall. After over an hour of trying to get the app up and running, I gave up. This may not be an issue for those with an internet connection and Adobe account. For others, you will go through hoops.

Finally received my Adobe Photoshop Elements today to test out. However, unbeknownst to me at the time of selecting the software of its physical format, the software came delivered in the format of CD. None of my newer desktops/laptops in my household have a CD drive. Most computer manufacturers have moved away from this format for software. It does include 2 separate discs: 1 for Windows and another for Macs. If only it was in USB format or able to be downloaded.

Least User Friendly Program Ever Used

BEWARE! I purchased the Photoshop/Lightroom package a few months ago and have loved Lightroom (however getting used to it was annoying). Photoshop on the other hand has given me severe anxiety. It is literally the least user-friendly program I have ever used in my entire life. It looks simple on the outside, and they market this program for families wishing to take photos of their children and touch them up. Well, take this warning and invest in Lightroom rather than Photoshop, I promise it will save you many frustrating moments and MANY migraines.
