As an owner of one AeroGarden Farm 24Plus unit already, I was looking to expand on my indoor garden capacity. The AeroGarden Farm 24XL is the largest and most capable of the Farm family, allowing space to grow plants up to 3 feet tall. The unit I got included the Salad and Tomato kit, which includes both red and yellow heirloom tomatoes, several lettuce varieties, along with basil, chives, and dill herbs. Assembly and Unit Location The FarmXL comes in a large box with everything you need inside to get started with your own indoor garden. The top of the unit houses all the electronics, and the bottom reservoir holds the water are both made of sturdy molded plastic while the left and right rails are made of painted steel. The unit took me about 45 minutes to completely assemble and an additional 15 minutes to assemble the stacking kit which I purchased separately. The stacking kit allows one Farm24 unit to be placed on top of another Farm24 and mounted against the wall. This is a versatile feature if you are looking to supply a lot of greens efficiently and with limited space. The footprint of the Farm 24XL unit is roughly 1’ x 3’ x 4’ so there are a couple things you should consider when picking a location for it: 1. The LEDs are very bright, so if you think this might bother your family plan to locate the unit in a lesser trafficked area of your home such as a garage, large closet, or pantry. Make sure an outlet is available at this location. Alternatively, if you decide to place the unit against a wall in your kitchen, you may adjust the time the grow lights are on to the hours you sleep so that they are mostly off during the day. 2. If you plan on stacking another Farm 24 unit on top, make sure your wall is both tall enough to accommodate the second unit and that the second unit wouldn’t block any light switches or something you might need to regularly access. Planting Your Garden AeroGarden uses a pod-based system, which is essentially a stake looking plastic piece with a spongy growing medium in the middle which the seeds are in. Planting your garden is as easy as filling the reservoir with water/plant food and following the on-screen instructions to select your garden type, your LED power schedule, and inserting the pods. AeroGarden includes small clear plastic domes which help in the initial germination of the seeds. After the only thing you will need to do is refill the reservoir and plant food and keep the plants reasonably pruned. There are two strategies that one can use the Farm24 XL for: 1. Producing transplants for a larger outside garden 2. Indoor year-round gardening Once you have had your seeds sprout and they have been growing for about a month you can decide if you want to keep growing them in the Farm or if you would like to transplant them. Personally, the taller units are made to accommodate tall plants to begin with. If your focus is transplants I would consider a shorter unit with less growth height. Performance This is the primary reason why anybody should consider and AeroGarden over traditional methods. In my experience with the unit I already own and the new Farm24 XL unit, the combination of the LED grow light and hydroponic system resulted in significantly faster germination and plant growth times. At the time of these writing after having the system installed for two weeks all of the seeds have sprouted and many of my tomato plants are already 3 inches tall. You will be impressed by how fast plants in the AeroGarden grow. This makes it a viable choice when you want a constant supply of fresh lettuce, herbs, and tomatoes. The other major benefit over traditional methods that I think people will appreciate the most is that you won’t have to weed your garden or worry about having to spray your garden with chemicals – since the garden is isolated and not grown in soil, these types of problems rarely show up. In my other Farm unit I’ve been growing lettuce and tomatoes for 150 days with no issues so I anticipate the same experience with this new unit as well. Technology As I mentioned, the unit is controlled by a touchscreen which is used to initially setup the garden, but there are even more features to check out. The Farm24 XL is a Wi-Fi connected unit, which means it will get updates that can improve the user experience. Being internet connected also allows you to add the unit to the AeroGarden app, so that you can remotely monitor and control your garden with the same touchscreen interface. This comes in handy when you stack units and need to control the unit on the very top, but maybe cannot comfortably reach it. It also means that you can integrate the unit with Alexa to both control and check on the status of your garden. Control options included toggling the LED light power, changing the schedule, and raising and lowering the light panels. Summary Overall, the Farm 24XL unit is an easy way to produce fresh indoor lettuce and tomatoes year round. It's simple to setup and maintain and Wi-Fi connectivity ensures the unit gets updates and new features as time goes on. Best of all, it's hydroponic system means everything grows fast so you never have to worry about running out of produce. If you're looking into getting into large scale indoor gardening, the Farm unit is something I would highly recommend!

The AeroGarden Farm 24XL is a cool indoor gardening system. I’ve been gardening outdoors for years and always considered hydroponic systems too complicated to bother with. But the AeroGarden makes it very easy. The AeroGarden is easy to set up, just a matter of assembling the frame with a few screws using the included hex wrench, hanging the lighting units, plug in the power cord, and fill the water reservoirs. The touch screen controls walk you through the planting process. The system uses seed pods that you pop into the holes of the AeroGarden. After that, the AeroGarden garden controls the lighting and tells you when to add plant food and water. Compared to outdoor soil gardening, the AeroGarden is very easy to manage. This makes it ideal for beginners. It’s about the size of a medium bookshelf but you can grow up to 24 plants. Compared to outdoor soil gardening, that’s a lot of plants in a small area. It’s ideal for growing leafy greens like lettuce and spinach and herbs. You can also grow fruiting plants like tomatoes and peppers too, but you will need to play the role of the bees and pollinate the flowers with a cotton swab. I’m excited to grow tomatoes and strawberries indoors where the birds can’t get them before I do. It’s also great to be able to grow plants year round. The AeroGarden would be especially ideal if you live in an apartment. The grow lights are quite bright, so I wouldn’t recommend setting it up in your bedroom (although you can adjust the light schedule to some degree). There is an app available that gives you the same controls as the touch screen and allows you to monitor the water level and control the lighting remotely, but it’s really not necessary (after all you can’t add water with your phone). If you are like my daughter and like the idea of growing plants but don’t like the dirt, bugs, and worms, then the AeroGarden would be perfect for you.

There were NO assembly instructions included in the box nor was there an owners manual. I got it assembled but I still have no idea what the plastic tubing is for. Also the seeds provided expired a year ago,

Just way too big. Be sure you have the space for it! Had to return.

I ordered the farm 24 for a Christmas present and what I received was a 12 xl But I got to pay for the 24 now I get to pack it back up and take back

Not the best 1/3 of pods never grew. Almost nothing really produced- certainly not worth expense and hassle

I received the Aerogarden today. I was in the process of putting the unit together when I noticed that the support bars (Part B) in the manual were not included in the box. Aerogarden customer support is not open on the weekends. They are not available for phone support because of COVID and email support wont respond until Monday at the earliest. Not a great start to my Aerogarden 24 XL experience. This was a costly unit and not having all parts in the box is inexcusable.

Damaged item, lights don't work No one to talk to bought online

I've had my Aerogarden Farm for two weeks, and I can say that so far, this thing is great. As an avid outdoor gardener for most of the year, I've always been curious on how an Aerogarden setup would work, and was excited to try one out. Setup was a little tough with one person and took about an hour total. The only real con that I can note is that some of the framings seemed a bit off in terms of drill holes and such, and was difficult to align certain screws when putting together. After it was complete, all I've had to do so far was plant the pods, add some fertilizer (provided with the pods), and let the Aero do its thing. Two weeks in all my pods have sprouted and are looking good. There's no mess, nothing to clean up every day, and everything can be controlled/checked on my smartphone thanks to Aerogarden's nifty app. The notifications are nice, and the app works well enough. So far I have the Farm in my garage, where temps hover between 48-60 degrees (night vs day), so we'll see how the plants do moving forward. The LED lights give off enough heat that this shouldn't be an issue moving forward, but we'll see how the plants hold up. Very excited to see what happens moving forward, and am interested in working with my own seeds, too. They make custom seed pods for you to try out our own plants and that will be my next step.

I bought it for my Wife, and she loves it. It was delivered when they said it was going to be. and I didn't have a hard time putting it together which was good.

Complete mostly automated hydroponic system that accommodates tall plants, like peppers and tomatoes. Has 12 planting positions but should only accommodate about 3 to 4 tall, wide plants like full-sized tomatoes and peppers. Has an app that can give you alerts on smartphones and you can change settings, like lighting etc on the app. Assembly takes about 15 minutes with one person, easier if you have another person to help. No tools are required for assembly, as they provide the bolts and a hex wrench. I've done my research and IMHO, this is the best turn-key solution for getting a quality hydroponic garden started quickly and that should flourish. I have several Aerogarden systems, the Harvest, Bounty, Sprout and this Farm, 12XL. I endorse their products. While customer service is helpful and accommodating, getting them to respond to you is a challenge, likely due to overwhelming sales and Covid-19 staffing challenges. When they do make contact, they are knowledgable and service-oriented.

Easy to assemble and sturdy. One person said it was heavy...I am a woman in her 70's and had no trouble taking this form my car and assembling it. My Spouse and I have been growling hydroponics for over 40 years and most systems are ugly and cumbersome, not to mention the heat and cost of running. Nothing you would want set up in your living space. This sits nicely in my living space and is attractive. We got the bounty to try out the system and was more then pleased with the results. Oh and lots of cool features not even mentioned in the description!

I’ve tried the little ones but this 12XL Farm has directed me appropriately and I’ve harvested 9times whereas only three times with a smaller Harvest. Beeping when low water, lighting time is specific to plants growing and food reminder. Definitely the best in opinion. Happy gardening everyone.

This areogarden is great. I wish the controls were somewhere near the bottom rather on top, since we have this sitting on a table, we need a step stool to see what we are doing.

Excellent product as are all Aerogardens. So easy to set up and use. Pods generally sprout within just a few days. So happy with this garden and Best Buy had super quick shipping.

I have grown flowers, peppers and vegetables successfully! Highly recommend the XL model as the height gives you the most growing flexibility!
