Awesome but overpricedIf you could get this for Less $200 Great buy. The application that is used to monitor needs better statistics and times Intervals that are less than 48 hours apart makes it hard to fix situations in your home when you’re guessing in a two day window printable reports would be awesome. I loved it I would buy more and set them up in every room but price is the big issue it also has no subscription fees

We bought this to monitor the air quality in our home. We live two blocks from a busy freeway and were concerned about the air quality. We found that the quality of the air wasn't too bad, but the Radon was a little high. So far we have been able to keep it in check by opening doors and windows when it get high.

Limited features and connects to Bluetooth not WiFi. It doesn’t send notifications for any abnormal readings other than radon. Easy setup. Colors of the rings are starting to mean nothing if I have to open the app every time to see what’s wrong.

I live in an area where it is common to have Radon emissions in homes, so I decided to get an air quality sensor that would keep me updated on Radon and other levels in my home. I already have a Radon mitigation system installed, but I wanted to see if it was doing enough to get rid of the odorless, colorless gas.
The Airthings Wave Plus Indoor Air Quality Monitor measures several air quality factors, including Radon, CO2 (carbon dioxide), humidity, temperature, VOC's (airborne chemicals) and air pressure.
When you receive the Wave Plus, you just have to unpack it, then pull the small plastic tab in the side of it to have the battery make contact and power the device. Then you can either mount the device on a wall (mounting screw included) or place it on a shelf or table where you want to monitor the air quality.
Download the Wave Plus app and connect via Bluetooth to access the device's levels, plus it tells you how much battery power is left. The device gives you 48 hour levels, plus a week-long level, so you need to have it in place for a week before you get any real solid information about your home.
To do a quick check of your air quality, you can just wave your hand in front of the Wave Plus and a colored ring will appear. Green for good, yellow for average and red for bad. This can be misleading, however. After the device had been in my home for a week, it listed my air quality as bad, mainly because of low humidity. I live in an area with very low humidity, so that's not going to change (except when it's raining or snowing). I could install a humidifier, but I prefer not to run one. Therefore I have to rely on the app data, not the "quick check."
The Wave Plus is a good, basic indicator of the air quality in your home. After a week of testing, you can move it to different rooms, to see if the air quality is different from room-to-room. On the Airthings app and website, they give you information on what the various levels should be, what is unsafe and ways to mitigate them. One of the best ways is good airflow and ventilation.

I purchased these for my adoptive family that I love so dearly. They, like many people, are not aware that Radon causes more lung cancer than smoking. I was very satisfied with the performance of the Airthings Wave Plus Smart Indoor Air Quality Monitors with Radon Detection. I also bought the Hub for them as well. I am very happy with the quality! So for good health's sake, buy some for your place as well!!

had been using the cheap 3-10 day mail in to lab tests, which yielded results all over map. this unit however is true status and results you can actually make decisions on with respect to radon mitigation.

Great for Radon dection. It does continuous testing and will show you a good 48 hour and 1 week average. I have lent it to friends and relatives to check their homes too. It's so popular I have to beg to get it back.

A way to check indoor air quality!

The Airthings Wave Plus is an indoor air quality monitor that monitors Radon, humidity, VOCs, temperature, CO2 and air pressure. Though they are all important, I wanted this mostly for the Radon monitor because I know that is a big deal. I am in the process of buying a home and one of the important things that was tested for during the inspection period was Radon. Knowing that, when I saw this, I wanted to get it to monitor what goes on with my indoor air. I will certainly use it when I move into my new house next month to make sure the number I measure is about the same as the number the professional measured, and constant monitoring will give me some assurance that the air in my home is safe for my family. If something can be fixed before it’s a big issue, that is what I want to do.
Setup for this device was simple. Download the Airthings application then follow the app instructions. This connects ONLY via bluetooth, not wifi. So your phone needs to be near the device for the app information to be updated. This is a solid little device powered by 2 AA batteries (supplied). As soon as you get it set up, it will start monitoring your air, however it needs about 7 days to get fully calibrated to the location in which you place it. So once you find a good place for it (I have it sitting on an end table), you really don’t want to move it somewhere else. I have had this about 5 days now. The Wave Plus is giving me information, but I know it will be more accurate in a couple more days. They advise to monitor the Radon over a period of 30 days in a location because the levels fluctuate daily and a 30 day avg. will more accurately reflect the amount present in an area.
This operates by simply waving your hand over the device. When you do that, you will see a circular light in the middle that shows your combined air quality - either green: good, yellow: fair or red:poor. So far, mine has been consistently green, thank goodness. By accessing the Airthings app, I can see the specific numbers of each air factor. Right now, the Radon is at .3 which the app shows me is “good” and that no action is needed. Should that go up above 1.3, I will know that the room likely needs more ventilation. All other levels are within the “good” level as well.
I did want to integrate this with my Alexa eco-system (I have them in every room) and the documentation claims that is possible, but I couldn’t get that to work at all. More than anything, I want to keep my family safe. If this Airthings Wave Plus can help me do that, it is absolutely worth the investment. At this time, I would recommend this Airthings Air Quality monitor.

Basement Peace of Mind

I moved into my first home with a basement about ten years ago. We live in an area known for radon and have an abatement system, but who knows how effective it is without occasional testing? To that end I bought a small Airthings radon sensor a few years ago and love it. I was really excited to see that they started to produce monitors that go beyond radon and connect to a smartphone.
Mounting was easy and really smart. There’s a round magnetic disk that mounts to a wall or ceiling with one screw, then the monitor simply sticks to it. Removing it to replace the batteries is as simple as pulling it straight out rather than that twist and pull thing you need to do with smoke detectors.
The monitor works in conjunction with the Airthings Wave app, in my case on the iPhone. The app shows radon levels, volatile gas levels, carbon dioxide, humidity, temperature and air pressure. So far the radon levels are consistent with my stand-alone Airthings sensor.
The main page shows an overall view of air quality and readings, and a second page breaks them out by type and shows the trend over 2 days to one year. This is really handy for things like radon that can change over time due to weather and how your radon pump is working.
There are a couple things I wish were different. I wish that it showed carbon monoxide rather than CO2 since I have gas appliances and a gas furnace in the basement too.
Also, it communicates to the phone over Bluetooth and not WiFi. I need to be in range of the sensor, and I can’t monitor from away from home. Apparently you can purchase a wireless bridge to set it up on WiFi, so that can be done, but it requires an additional purchase.
I would very much recommend this for someone with a basement or who is interested in an overall view of air quality in other parts of the house.

We recently put new basement in our existing CrawlSpace. One of the things we worried about was radon so we purchased Airthings to measure the radon in our new basement, what we realized how many things it measured wow and we have no high radon levels,

Shows a lot of aspects of the air quality inside. However, it has intermittent connection issues. It also doesn't have Wi-Fi support or the option to be connected to a wall outlet.
