No 4K HDR and no digital copy listed on packaging
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No HDR disc or promised replacement arrived yet. This set does not include the HDR 4K disc and Funimation has promised to send replacements in February’21 when you submit a request with photo. It is now mid-March, I’ve contacted Funimation Customer Support chat and they don’t have any information. This product also lists digital copy included but there is no digital copy, nor does Funimation have any intention of honoring the mention of digital copy on the packaging. I regret buying this release of such a beloved film.

AKIRA, again.
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This 4K set is nice, but the package is very familiar to the initial Blu Ray set that was announced way back. Not much different can be seen while watching this on my 4K and UHD player. BUY for collector's, RENT for fans.

Be careful
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As many other reviews had mentioned, this does indeed false advertise. It will not have any form of HDR. I had tried contacting funimation, they are refusing to help now since the crunchyroll merger. Would not havw bought this if i knew ahead of time.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This film is highly overrated. Slow story annoying voices ugly people with all the same faces only thing cool is the background and color

THE anime classic
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Genre: Action, Sci-Fi Length: 124 minutes "World War III breaks loose. Then in 2019, in megalopolis Tokyo... As the leader of a group of young delinquents, Kaneda spends his nights tearing through the urban wastes, racing his motorbike against rival groups. One night, while riding with his gang, his friend Tetsuo suddenly encounters a strange boy - a product of human experimentation - and is injured in the ensuing crash. Shortly thereafter, a military squadron appears on the scene to take the boy and Tetsuo away to an army research lab. Determined to free Tetsuo from captivity, Kaneda sneaks into the lab. However, a regimen of extreme experimental procedures has awakened a new power in his friend, and he is now consumed by madness..." Hard to believe that it's now been 25 years since Akira came out. This is the 25th anniversary edition that has been remastered into Blu-ray format. The story of Akira is a classic one of two friends, Kaneda and Tetsuo, who end up becoming enemies as one is consumed by a supernatural power and decides to use it to reign death down on everyone. The amazing attention to detail, intriguing characters, and violent action scenes have kept Akira alive as one of the all-time anime masterpieces. If you're a fan of the genre, then you should see this movie at least once if not more! Akira is definitely an amazing movie, but it does have its faults. That mainly lies in the plot. What caused WW3? How did the top secret projects start? What happened to Akira? And a lot of other questions abound but are never answered. This is circumvented a bit by a clean opening and ending which doesn't leave much room for discussion. The remastering into Blu-ray was done amazingly. The previous remastering from back in 2001 with the audio is used alongside the great visuals. I watched it in Japanese on VHS a long time back, but the English voice casting is so great that I've got no reason to now! The music from the movie really draws out the emotions and feelings of everything as well. The futuristic techno, punkish music is incredibly unique even today. Tons of extras included on this version including trailers, storyboards, director interviews, documentaries on remastering the movie, and even the story behind every song for the movie are on here. Overall, there's over an hour and a half of bonus features to watch as well. Really recommend it if you enjoy the history of things.

The Best Anime of All Time... hands down.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This movie is the movie that made me fall in love with anime. The animation is amazingly detailed. The plot is fantastic. So many other anime is a bit lost on western civilazation due to differences in our cultures but Akira blends both together flawlessly. I highly recommend this to anyone just getting into the anime genre and if you love anime and havent seen this movie then shame on you.

The standard for anime!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was one of the first anime movies I seen in the late 80's. The detail in this movie is incredible. I highly recommend this to people who are into anime and if your not I still recommend it. Akira alone can stand with motion picture movies. It is a little long but the time goes by because you are so emerged in the movie. If you are a fan of anime movies and have never seen this... then you are not a true fan.

Overall Great Edition
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This anime film was complicated at first to watch in Japanese with subtitles. I actually didn't like it at first. I picked up a copy on a whim and watched the english dub and thought it was a great film. The audio is superb for this film, the picture quality is about 4/5 just because the picture is great however there are still artifacts on this film, I know, first world problems. However this edition is amazing overall and definitely worth the money, especially if you are into anime.

NOT the limited edition here
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Blu-Ray offered here is NOT the limited edition with the slip case and color booklet. I ordered it online, sent it back, and they still sent the wrong version. I also called my "store pickup" Best Buy and all they have is the regular edition. So once again, if you are looking for the Special Slipcase and 32 page color booklet. This is NOT it.

Awesome anime
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This movie is totally worth buying. I don't think it's pricey at all. Most blu-ray movies cost about that much. Everything about this movie was great. It is definitely remastered. Only thing is, it doesn't have the original English voices Just the 2001 dub. In my opinion, this this is one of the best anime ever made. The plot is simply awesome.
