Incredibly Smooth Graphics
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.BLUF: This is a great entry level gaming and creator laptop. It was able to perform all my gaming and creator needs. Lightweight, quality, and portable. The Alienware 15 AMD Ryzen R7 performs great for a little laptop. It's light and portable to game or create on-the-go but feels sturdy and quality. It did get warm sitting on my lap though. On a hard surface it was able to keep everything cool. It boots really fast. The keyboard has a great feel when typing. I love how Alienware was able to fit a full keyboard into a 15in form factor. The track pad is a nice size that isn't in the way and is very responsive. Overall it's very quiet. The easiest thing I did to try this out was to stream some 4K movies. They looked fantastic. The blacks were excellent, everything looked very smooth and detailed. The sound was pretty good to boot. Gaming wise I tried some PC games; Diablo 3 and Destiny 2. Diablo 3 was very smooth and looked good. There weren't any artifacts even during mobs. Destiny 2 was really fantastic. The graphics were so good and everything was so buttery smooth and extremely responsive. I pretty much played the best game I've ever had due to the great performance. I gamed for a couple hours on battery with only 50% used. Pushing more on the gaming I loaded up the Xbox game Forza Horizons 5. The racing was great and smooth just like the other gaming experiences. No issues found. Switching gears I did some creating. I editing videos with Premier Elements and the editing experience was good and the render was pretty quick. During editing and with the laptop plugged in on performance mode the fan would get loader occasionally trying to keep everything cooled off. I was able to view and edit GoPro footage without any addition codex. I then used Photoshop Elements to edit some photos. Clicking through and zooming it seemed very pixel accurate especially using the lasso tool. Now with all of that there were a few nits. Being a gaming laptop I wished there was a little bit more pizzazz with color customizations. It felt pretty bland from that stand point. Also with being on-the-go and creating I wish it had a SD card slot. I do really like that its up-gradable though. 1TB is a good starting point but being able to upgrade to 2TB is very handy. The RAM is accessible too but it already comes with the max RAM. I would definitely recommend this to anyone getting into gaming or creating. It's not overkill and does great at getting the job done.

Nothing Wrong
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Usually when I write a review, I'll drop stars based on something that I did not like. Maybe something that just doesn't live up to expectations. I'll struggle with rounding up a half star or down a half star. With this laptop, I ran into an issue. I can't find a reason to deduct a star. Is the laptop perfect? No. Does it do everything well without blowing your socks off? That might be it. Honestly, the screen is nice, but not perfect. There is nothing to deduct a star here. The keyboard is nice. Not perfect. It has a 10 key pad, which too many laptops forget exists. Many keyboard makers forget the number pad also. The back light is good, I like a solid color rather than a rainbow strobe. The processor is not top of the line, but it does the job well. Performance is not an issue. Add in the 32 GB of memory, especially with the memory shortage, and this is a BIG bonus point. Video card is a Nvidia 5060. Once again, not top of the line, but performs well. Cooling has been stellar, I have yet to hear the fans fire up. Even doing performance tests, the temp never really spikes. The build is solid, but not at the level of past Alienware laptops. But it has no flex and is a rock solid build. Like I keep saying, nothing to complain about. The weight, as one would expect, is quite hefty. Definitely not something you want to carry around town. But if you did, you would be glad that you brought it. If I was forced to find a flaw, it would be the number of ports. One of the USB C will do video, the other will not. I have a two monitor setup, one 4k the other is ultra wide. I use the HDMI for my 4k monitor and a USB C dongle to attach the ultra wide. My ultra wide I use primarily for work and I switch it out when I am off work hours. Overall, this is rock solid that will play most any game with very little issue. There is virtually no bloatware. The apps preinstalled are the usual fare. Alienware/Dell apps and that is about it. I usually uninstall McAfee on any machine I get and go with a different software or the built in Windows Defender. I highly recommend. The laptop won't blow you away, but it also does not disappoint. It checks all the boxes, but does not get a bold check mark on most.

GG On A Budget
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not going to say that I know everything there is to know about Alienware PCs, but I can say that this is the third Alienware PC that I have the distinct honor and privilege to test and review. And while it is the most powerful of the bunch, specs-wise, I'm finding that it comes up short in a few areas. I know you saw the score, so give me a chance to explain. Let's start with looks. Out of the box, you're getting a very barebones laptop that doesn't resemble a gaming laptop, at all. Outside of the 2" alien head on the top, there's nothing telling you that this is a gaming computer, let alone an Alienware product. The 180 W power supply is welcomed, for the Ryzen 7 260 32 GB of RAM, and the GeForce RTX 5060. I'm not sure of the capacity, but there's a 3 cell integrated battery, giving anywhere from 40 to 60 Wh from around 11 to 11.5 V units. There are no RGBs on this PC. (I know, right?) With that being said. You don't need to run to the Alienware Command Center to adjust any. The casing is made of sturdy, blue plastic, but I didn't feel like it felt too cheap. It's just different. The ports are good enough. On the left, you'll get the power port, HDMI, 2 USB-A ports & 1 Type C port. On the right, all you get is a Type C port and a headphone jack, and that's enough, if you're asking me. I played a couple graphic intensive games, and the frame rate didn't drop during my playthrough, although, I do expect for that to change. The speakers aren't great, but there are definitely worse speakers out there. Either way, I do tend to play with headphones on to kill off the fan noise, which can get a bit loud, but it keeps the keys cool. The screen isn't going to win any awards, being kind of dim and basic, but we are talking of 2K. The onboard camera isn't great, but it'll get you through a streaming session, with the proper lighting. And there's no Windows Hello or fingerprint reader. Just that power button, to get you into the game. I know it sounds like I'm bashing this PC, but I'm saying this, not completely out of disdain. Alienware has put together its most cost efficient and minimalistic packages that Ive ever seen, from them. And honestly, I'm liking it. Much like the simplistic, yet sleek look of the Aurora R16 desktop, it comes off as unassuming, and can feel comfortable in any environment, from office space to a coffee shop. The alien head is its only giveaway. I also feel like the mat blue finish on the body isn't as much of a fingerprint magnet as I would've thought. Just don't touch your tech with greasy hands. Even though I'm a green person, I do like that blue finish. So Alienware has decided to build a more affordable laptop and pass the savings on to the consumer, giving the going rate of RAM and other components, these days. I get it and appreciate it. I couldn't give it a 5, because in all logic, flaws are still flaws. But I would definitely recommend it.

Excellent upper-mid-range laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Alienware laptop gets a lot of things right and nothing wrong. I'd call it an entry to the high end of computing. The hardware specs are great and the performance is great. I call it entry high end because the case is made of plastic rather than metal which if it had that would push it more into the high end. The plastic construction is well made and looks and feels good, unlike some lesser laptops that feel toy-like. The Ryzen 7 260 CPU is a good performer for general use and midrange gaming. The addition of the nvidia RTX 5060 GPU gives a good bump for gaming. The 8GB of video memory is a little on the skimpy side these days but didn't seem to hamper performance in anything I've done so far. 32GB of RAM is a bunch, I can't see how you'd ever need more. However they used to say the same thing about 640k back in the old days! But 32GB is killer right now. The 1TB SSD is an excellent performer with a lot of space. The "2k" display (1980x1200) is very crisp and bright with fast response time. Sound is typical laptop quality. I use mine for general computing and medium gaming. Most of the games I love are getting to be nearly 10 years old (or older! which must make me old, as well). The beauty of that is with a laptop that performs like this one, I can run those games at 1980x1200 resolution and ultra max video quality settings and still get huge frame rates. That is very enjoyable. It also has enough power to run new games at good quality and frame rates. Overall, this Alienware laptop is the sweet spot of performance, size, and battery life to take on all but the most demanding tasks. In addition, I have had great experiences working with support from Dell. I really like it.

Runs games well, but fans are louder than speakers
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. On paper, this laptop has got a lot going for it. Nice sized internal storage for the bulky size of AAA games these days, double the RAM of most laptops out there, RTX 5000 series video card (helpful for pushing those 2k graphics). It even comes in a sleek, thin profile. Games play really well on it, my daughter's Minecraft world never looked so good. There's enough ports on it to keep me satisfied. I played with the ethernet port for several minutes, admiring the little jaw that opens up to accept the plug. This little thing was nothing that was really functionally necessary, just something to keep the lines of the chassis clean. One of the USB-C ports has DisplayPort, which means I can plug in my XR glasses without having to use any adapters. I'm not a real big fan of the keyboard. I appreciate that it has a num pad, but it feels very cramped, especially with the num pad being so close to the enter key. I find myself toggling the num lock several times while attempting to press backspace. The num pad also affects the positioning of the touch pad, as it has to be off-center to have it below your hands when typing, but makes the whole thing look lopsided while using. Since Alienware is Dell's gaming division, they could have at least followed the XPS design with the hidden touchpad. Also, the arrow keys are teeny tiny. The Cherry MX Ultra Low Profile switches on the keys themselves are interesting, and way better than the usual membrane keyboards. The speakers are disappointingly quiet. Sometimes at dinner, I'll pop on a family show on the tablet and prop it up, but I tried it with this laptop for the much larger screen and the audio was so faint, we could hardly hear Bob and Linda Belcher's zany antics. And that's without the cooling fans spinning. Once those bad boys kick into gear while playing a game with 3D graphics, you can forget about hearing anything from your game. Having a headset or earphones is a must due to the loudness of the fans. If you've got your own keyboard and mouse, and are basically going to just have the laptop docked most of the time while hooked up to a monitor, then you are good to go with this, plus you have the ability to take your show on the road. On its own with no other accessories, using it is perfectly adequate for gaming in short sessions.

Beautiful gaming laptop.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a gorgeous, beautiful laptop right at that box. The speed of the processors in the frame rate of the screen make it great for any online game that requires a very demanding load. I think the processors produced stellar gaming graphics and have not noticed any lag whatsoever at some of the highest settings. Of course with these gaming laptops, you have to consider the fan noise, but I do think the fan noise is considerably less than the other gaming laptops I’ve owned. The screen is gorgeous and produces a very beautiful picture at a very high picture quality. Keyboard is very economic and seamless in the buttons of a beautiful haptic feedback. Everything about this laptop, screams, high-end quality. I was especially impressed with the windows in multimedia tasking, which I felt like the computer handled flawlessly. The Alienware badging is ans equally impressive, and the contours of the computer itself are built very nice and very futuristic. So far no issues and I would definitely recommend.

More Capable than Expected!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Alienware gaming laptop has been great to use while keeping my expectations in check as I feel this is in the upper mid tier of gaming laptops. As someone who exclusively games on laptops (docked) or consoles. It's powerful enough to run GTA V Enhanced (exclusively online) and Forza Motorsport 2023. With the Nvidia 5060 (for Laptops w/ 8GB RAM) and 32 GBs of RAM, I can run GTA V Enhanced (Online) at 4K and up to144Hz (Alienware 27" OLED Monitor) on High Ray-Traced settings with 0 slowdown, lag, or choppiness. In Forza Motorsport, keeping it on High Settings and bumping the resolution down to 1080p or 1440p still gives great performance which is crucial in online sim racing. Using the laptop display, on the go is okay, obviously you lose the real estate afforded by an actual monitor but to get in a quick game or two in a hotel or airport is more than serviceable with the 15" 1440p monitor. There are more than enough ports to hook up any peripherals you may need. Overall this laptop has exceeded my expectations for the specs provided, and if you keep your expectations in line with what you're getting, you'll enjoy the time you get to spend with it.
