Is a Great Mix of Power and Everyday Usability

I've spent the last few days testing the Alienware 15, and overall I've been really impressed. I used it mostly for gaming, but also for everyday stuff like browsing, YouTube, Discord, and some multitasking while gaming. The first thing that stood out was how solid the laptop feels. It has that premium Alienware build quality, but it doesn't feel overly bulky or heavy like some gaming laptops. The keyboard is comfortable, and the overall design looks clean without going overboard on the "gamer" aesthetic. Gaming performance was excellent during my testing. The RTX 5060 paired with 32GB of RAM handled everything I played smoothly, and the 165Hz display made gameplay feel responsive and fluid. Whether I was jumping into multiplayer games like Destiny 2 or playing more demanding titles like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, I didn't notice any stuttering or slowdown. I was also happy with how well the cooling worked. The fans definitely ramp up during gaming sessions, but temperatures stayed under control and performance remained consistent. Alienware Command Center made it easy to tweak settings to my liking. What I liked: -Smooth gaming performance -Fast and responsive display -Plenty of RAM for gaming and multitasking -Premium build quality -Good thermal performance Things to consider: -Fans get noticeable when gaming -The trackpad is functional but wasn't my favorite -Not a laptop you'll want to game on battery power for long -Premium price tag One small thing I wasn't crazy about was the trackpad. It works fine, but it didn't feel quite as smooth or effortless to glide across as some other premium laptops I've used. That said, it's not a huge issue for me because when I'm gaming, I'm almost always using an external mouse anyway, and I imagine most PC gamers are doing the same. After a few days of testing, I think Alienware did a great job with this laptop. It delivers the gaming performance I expected while still being comfortable to use for everyday tasks. If you're looking for a gaming laptop that feels fast, well-built, and ready for modern games, this one is easy to recommend.

Excellent laptop for gaming and general usage

Allow some time for setup as the updates during setup and then running Windows update took about 90 minutes. This is a great computer. Minimal bloatware is greatly appreciated. When you buy a laptop with more RAM, larger hard drive, faster processor and better graphics card it will last much longer. The Alienware is sturdy. It weighs about 5 lbs., heavier than most laptops this size. Specs: 32 GB RAM 1 TB Hard Drive 3.8GHz AMD Ryzen 7 260 w/ Radeon 780M 1920x1200 Resolution 165Hz Refresh Rate NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Graphics 300 Nits Brightness Ports: 4 USB, 1 HDMI, 1 USB-C (charging), 1 headphone jack I always use a mouse so the trackpad is not a concern. The numerical keypad is a necessity for me as it allows wider use for business. A gaming laptop should be multi-functional – who wants to tote 2 laptops? Keyboard placement is good, maybe a little of a reach for my small hands. The system is air cooled and worked very well while gaming. Performance was excellent for gaming with no discernable lag time. The battery works well for regular use but you will need to plug in fairly soon when gaming. Graphics were excellent for me. I am a casual gamer so my standards are different than very serious gamers. You can change settings to customize your preferences. A little tweaking and you will be all set. Very happy with this laptop and highly recommended.

Lots of power packed into an under $2000 gaming pc

Lots of power packed into an under $2000 gaming pc! I'll go into the specs, 15 inch screen, 32gb memory, 1tb ssd, amd ryzen 7 260 processor, nvidia geforce 5050 graphics card and the high quality craftsmanship of the alienware look and feel of a high quality pc. The display hd looks great and pairs with the nvidia geforce 5060 graphics card to make gaming seamless and easy. I'm a gears of war guy and the graphics and gameplay look great and play great on this computer. With 1tb of ssd everything clicks and flows so much faster than your typical computer you will never go back to anything besides ssd again. For gaming though, my biggest gripe is always going to be more storage, and i feel most gaming pcs should be 2tb or more. This computer is perfect for gaming, videos or every day tasks for someone wanting to upgrade their computer, go to school or run big programs like photoshop that need the power to make work and school easier. Kinda reminds me of my older dell computer so not too much that makes it standout from your typical pc concerning looks, but the alienware symbol always feels high end when i see it. Love the light up keyboard and the fans flowing from the bottom dont get too loud when you kick it up a notch. Highly recommend for all groups and the price point is great for the features it has.

Value priced RTX 5060 gaming, 165hz WUXGA 32GB RAM

Dell is pitching an entry-level Alienware to bring more gamers into the fold, and I'm all for it! Not everyone needs, nor can afford some of the powerful gaming laptops out there. Dell's new Alienware 15 makes some smart, and some clearly cost-saving choices, to bring more gaming to the masses. Overview and Specs =================================== As an Alienware fan for over a decade with multiple units owned from as early as 2009, this new Alienware 15 still has that modern design language Alienware fans want. Not much in the box, but you do get a nice cloth sleeve and Alienware decal along with the large power supply and laptop. Specs-wise, you get a 15.3" 1920x1200, 16:10 LCD, an AMD Ryzen 260, 32 GB RAM(!), Nvidia RTX 5060, and a 1 TB SSD. Not bad at all. Design and Architecture =================================== While certainly not as flashy as some of their most powerful models, the Alienware 15 still looks like part of the family with the prominent Alienware logo and smoothly designed vents on the rear and underside. It's all plastic but it's not a cheap thin plastic like bargain laptops of the past. This stiffer polycarbonate feels sturdy and keeps the weight down. It's a powerful gaming laptop that's just under 5 lbs. Opening the lid, you'll be greeted by a nice backlit keyboard (white only, not RGB) that includes a number pad. Some folks like their 15" laptops with a large keyboard deck and no num pad, so your mileage may vary. The trackpad is decent with a bit of a hollow feel, but for gaming, you know you'll be using a mouse. Interestingly, the keyboard deck isn't festooned with stickers which is a nice plus. Besides the usual nubs at the "F" and "J" key for home row finger placement, there's a small, raised vertical nub on the "S" key, so you can feel the proper WASD placement without looking. I hadn't noticed that on other gaming keyboards before. On the left side, you'll see power an RJ-45 jack with folding cover (nice!), HDMI, 2x USB-A 3.2 gen 1 and a USB-C 3.2 gen 2 port. The right side has a USB-C 3.2 gen 1 port and a combo headset jack. The display is good enough. It's not something you'll want to use for color-accurate video or graphic work, but for playing games, 1920x1200 @ 165hz + the RTX 5060 is juuuust right. It's a great pairing that lets you push modern AAA games further than if you had a higher resolution panel. This is also an upgradable laptop which is not a given these days with soldered RAM and single SSD slots. There are two DDR5 RAM slots which means upgrades will be easy when RAM prices come down eventually. Where did Dell/Alienware do a bit of cost savings? Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and a 720p webcam are some components that may seem like they came from the leftover bin, but they're certainly functional enough. Performance =================================== With an AMD Ryzen 260 paired with an Nvidia RTX 5060, you'd expect some good performance and the Alienware 15 delivers. A higher resolution display would have demanded a more powerful GPU For AAA gaming at 100+ fps, but this 1920x1200 panel is a good fit for the RTX 5060. Of course, classic ARPGs like Grim Dawn and Diablo 3 are no problem. Even demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077 (I vividly remember this bringing an old Alienware 3070 to its knees) run over 60 fps at native resolution. Any additional optimization or tuning via graphics settings, DLSS, etc., can start to really take advantage of the fast display depending on the game. For example, Fortnite (and other first person shooters) can really take advantage of the panel's fast refresh rate, easily running above 100 fps, if not 120-140 fps on high/medium settings. All of this power requires cooling and the Alienware 15 has been engineered for this! The 50x0 series GPU models (like this one) get the Cryo-Chamber cooling which helps keep your CPU and GPU cool under pressure. Yes, there's still fan noise. Quite a bit actually, but that's the price of a pretty powerful setup. Use headphones and perhaps a riser/stand to keep your Alienware cool. Summary ==================================== Gaming has become an expensive hobby thanks the increased RAM and GPU prices, so I think Alienware has done a great job making not just an affordable gaming laptop, but an affordable, powerful gaming laptop. This laptop is no slouch and some of the shortcomings can be totally addressed by connecting an external monitor, a gaming mouse, and a webcam. The upgradability also helps future-proof this investment.
