Love it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a Mac Pro which I love but I wanted a PC strictly for gaming, And after reading reviews of different PCs and then going to Best Buy and trying it out it, I walked away with this model, I have to say set up was easy, and I love it, the graphics are great the sound is awesome , no heating issues, I'm very happy with it.

Misleading Product Name
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ultra HD is NVIDIA® GTX 980M. This one says 970M - should be Full HD only. You may check Dell Alienware site. The UHD version would have a price of $1,999.

Great specs for price point, Poor Quality Control
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this based on the specs, reviews and price. Great deal for the price? 4k UHD? Awesome but wait not so fast... First one i got the wireless card kept removing itself from the system and made my network connection icon look like it was having a seizure. It also kept crashing the video driver(s). The final straw with the first one was when I turned off the laptop it didn't want to turn back on. Ok... Fine... exchanged it and got a second one. Worked great for two days then the wireless card began to fail again and not show any wireless signals. Shortly after received a BSOD and it reset. Fed up I returned it and looked at their display model at Best Buy store... Same Issue! i am dumbfounded at the lack of quality control that is in the Alienware brand. Dell has not done well by that company and while it is visually appealing and have great specs buyer beware whats electrical gremlins are lurking below the surface...

Awesome Display Terrible Wifi
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really liked the laptop and everything about it minus the HORRENDOUS wifi adapter. I am not able to stay connected for more than 15 minutes at max. Have to reset the computer to get it to come back on. I really wanted to keep it but i cant spend this much money and only be able to sometimes game on it. Will be returning it today.

Perfect in every way
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can't really explain how much I love this laptop. It's very fast powering on and off, opening and closing the games I play and especially when working with some of the software I have to use for school. I bought this laptop for school use and it's exceeding expectations with my personal use as well!

Failed after 3 months do not impulse buy!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I saved up for this computer from the start of summer and bought it and I was very happy for 2 and a half months . Then the computer slowed massively and I was getting poor performance. So I called alienware tech support and they did thing I could have done and I couldn't understand what they were saying because they weren't native english speakers. So I drove to best buy to ask the "geek squad" and after wait 20 minutes I was seated then walked away from . So in that time frame I managed to fix the problem the tech support guy made for me. After that the best buy employee told me to factory reset the computer which i've done and now the computer will not power on fully. This employee told me that the geek squad would look at it for the small price of 150 where they would have done exactly what I did. They also told me i should have bought the 350 geek squad protection plan so i could have avoided that 150 dollar maintenance charge. So again I called alienware tech support( they are very friendly I just cant understand them. And they can not understand me either.) They had me run a diagnostics test which said there are one or more problems with my computer . I will now wait more than a week for the problem to be resovled hopefully. In review the product i bought the screen is beautiful but you wont be able to play any AAA modern games in native 4k the gtx 970m just isn't powerful enough. The battery isn't very good even if one is web browsing. The keyboard is fantastic though. I love the cosmetics of the computer but it's simply over priced and not powerful enough. I did more research and found that I could have built a computer myself that is 2 times as powerful for the same price. This computer is my first life lesson in patience and spending money wisely. Thank for reading and remember to always do your research first!

Stay away from 4K gaming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. On the surface, this looks like an excellent deal unless you are using it for gaming. The 970M is nowhere near strong enough to push a 4K display. I had a 980M (the 970's significantly more powerful big brother) and used it in conjunction with Assassin's Creed Syndicate. The 4K monitor takes processing power away from the GPU and the frames per second dips significantly. I am not saying to stay away from the Nvidia 970 or 980. Just stay away from the 4K screen. P.s. I tried two different laptops but no bueno

1st day failure
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I took a long time to make a decision to buy a new computer. When I did i did a lot of research and came upon buying this Alienware laptop. Very excited I drove 2 hours to a Best Buy to pick one up from a stocking store. I got it home and powered it up. Everything seemed ok so I loaded up a game and tried it out. Wanting the full experience I plugged in my headset and enjoyed getting thrashed in online gaming as it was my first foray into gaming online. I unplugged my headset and wanted to watch twitch to hopefully get some insight on how to be better at the game I was playing. And the speakers now did not function. I took some time trying to diagnose the problem on my own and with the diagnostic tools provided with the computer. I then contacted Dell for support. Come to find out in my first couple of HOURS of ownership the onboard speakers have failed. My choices are 7-10 days to have dell repair it or return for exchange at Best Buy. Best Buy says 7 days to have a new one delivered to my local store. I had never owned a Dell / Alienware product before and wasn't really interested in waiting 7 days to roll the dice on a computer that just had a failure literally hours into ownership. In the total time I had it I gamed for about an hour and a half and tried to repair and get tech support for over 3 hours. I am not happy with that relationship. I am typing this on my iPad because again I currently have no computer. Gotta get past day one at least. Very dissatisfied with the this purchase.

wont wake up after sleeping mode
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i just bought it today, and i don't use it for a long time and the laptop went to sleep mode automatically, i try to click alien logo to wake it up, but it doesn't work!!! all lights are on, but it won't wake up!!! it's so weird that if it went to sleep mode for a shot time, like 15 minutes, it will wake up after clicking the alien logo, but for a long time ,like half an hour, it will never wake up, you have to force it to restart. I will try to find the problem. If I can't I will have to return it next week~ Too bad~

Dead after 2.5 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop was awesome up until last night when it just randomly turned off with over 1/2 battery. I charged the unit all night and tried turning it on to no avail. There is no lights, or anything on the unit. It is nicely built, and has functioned well up until last night around 10pm

Waste of my time & money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Brand new out of box and WiFi won't work. It's a known issue with alienware but was hoping I'd be lucky...nope. Now I'm getting an error every 15 minutes that makes me restart. Also no disk drive, which I should have noticed but I didn't until we got home. Doesn't make sense to me to have a gaming laptop with no disk drive. I've waited to get an alienware for years and I've never been so let down. Will be returning to the store first thing tomorrow for a refund.

Laptop stop working under 2 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only had the laptop for little less than two months. I tried pressing the power button and nothing happens... I started reading on the internet and this seems to be common with Alienware laptops. Very disappointed as this was my first Alienware laptop and won't buy dell/Alienware laptop again. Next time I won't be lazy and just build my own rig.

NOT 3.5 GHZ AS ADVERTISED, BEST BUY ISSUE
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was specifically looking for 3.5 ghz for processing speed. this laptop is supposedly that. it's a great laptop, but IT'S NOT 3.5. you google the same laptop and see on the alienware/dell website and it says 2.6. false advertising. I now have to return a $1600 laptop because of it. simply a Best Buy issue, not even the laptop is the problem. if they had correctly labeled the specs I wouldn't have gotten it in the first place.
