    Perfect Gaming Machine

I have the 17 R4 purchased at my local BestBuy before the 7th gen CPU's were released, but everything else is the same. I'm still blown away by the power of the 2560 x 1440p 120 hertz refresh rate monitor. The GTX 1070 is perfect for 1440p extreme gaming. I use this daily for everything i could possibly need.

    Do Not Get Alienware!

I went against the recommendations of my friends and got an alienware 17r4 1080GTX and it has been nothing but issues. Dealing with their customer service is a night mare. There is a reason why so many people speak badly about this company and its products. Frame rate drop, stuttering and thermal issues two months after usage. No overclocking, just stock. All they want to do is send a tech who probably doesn't know what to do, to work on your expensive computer and try to repair it. I say try because I have had three mother board replacements, and Im fairly positive they are refurbished parts and not new. So you are stuck in this cycle of calling alienware, waiting a week for the parts to ship, and have someone who may not know what they are doing, opening up your computer, tearing down the connectors and other pieces causing more wear and tear, to maybe find out that it works? This is beyond frustrating. Save yourself the headache and get another brand.

    Disappointing.

For what's advertised as a powerful gaming computer is nothing more than an overpriced light show. I've had this machine for a year. There are times when I can run Illustrator, Photoshop, and Excel and it's fine. Other times I have Chrome open wathcing a youtube video and it crashes. The event log is never clear, there is always some component that isn't working because Dell's firmware doesn't jive well with Windows 10. I called customer support and they had 0 clue what was going on. I ended up fixing one of the issues myself by googling it. I'm not even paid to be IT!! Tl;dr the computer works when it works and half the time is a bag of issues. I will never touch another Dell product again ever.

    Missing power adapter!

    Posted .

I picked up my laptop on Thursday, and opened it up this evening to find that it was lacking a power adapter. I am currently in possession of a ten pound paperweight. The website specifically states that a power adapter would be included. For the amount of money I spent on my paperweight, one would think that basic quality control, like making sure the power adapter was enclosed, would be performed. I am very, very angry right now. This review may be subject to change, if Best Buy provides proper recompense for my wasted time. Gas, nor my time, is not free.
