I have owned a handful of PC monitors in my lifetime and have always had a keen eye for sharp image quality that has minimal lag/ghosting plus terrific viewing angles. You will find all those strengths here with the AW2518HF. The monitor's design has a sleek look with the angular base stand. Bezel all around the display is relatively thin. I can't help but see a futuristic looking monitor here with a definite Star Trek like flair. Contains USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, DisplayPort and a headphone jack. Overall the design will mostly be very appealing to gamers and looks nice for non gamers too. The monitor's performance is simply amazing. I supposed it is to be expected in this price range but it is absolutely worth it. AMD's Freesync technology allows for an ideal pairing between monitor and a compatible Freesync video card which allows for a ghost free, 240HZ setup. I tested my setup using Flight Simulator X and Battlefield 1. The 1ms response time combined with 240HZ refresh rate truly makes a difference. I did not notice any screen tearing or lag like with my previous monitors. Liquid smooth in FSX from takeoff to landing. Sky and land terrain scenery is very fluid and multiplayer in BF1 is solid. Under performing in BF1 will never be the fault of this montior. The downside is this monitor type is a TN and not LED backlit. The more expensive Nvidia G-Sync version supposedly has LED. Final conclusion is that this is a wonderful gaming screen. Theories state under 4ms response time is ideal for competitive gaming and this thing is 1ms. Combining that with the 240HZ, stunning exterior design, and Dell's history of quality builds makes it a purchase you will not regret for sure.

Good looking monitor built for gaming

The monitor came well packaged and I like the way you just remove four tabs and the top of the box came off easily. The stand snaps on without having to use any tools. It is heavy and seems built very well. The screen is highly adjustable in all directions. Standard HD works plenty well in a 25" monitor. Higher resolution monitors put a high strain on the PC and I had rather have better performance. The 240 MHz refresh rate will make fast action games look seamless. The ability to sync the refresh rate to your graphics card is a huge benefit. A high refresh rate is a major factor to look at when getting a monitor for gaming. There a few negatives to this product, but they are minor. First of all, it comes with a HDMI cable and not DVI. HDMI is limited to a refresh rate of 60 MHz so you will have to get a DVI cable to get the full 240 MHz benefit. Second, it's G-sync brother monitor has cool blue lighting on the back and this one does not. These are not show stoppers in considering this monitor, if you take into effect this monitor sells for $499 and the G-sync version is $699. You can pick up a DVI cable for less than $20 and it still looks good without the lighting. This a good price for all the features it has and it is the perfect compliment to an AMD graphics card. I'm running a Radeon 580x and the details are very nice and colors look realistic. If you are investing in a gaming computer, a good gaming monitor such as this one is a must have.

    Fast-Twicth High-Refresh Gaming Monitor

I'd like to start out by emphasizing, this monitor is not for everyone. This monitor is the very high end and the best at a very specific thing, not everything. If you are looking for a full HD with the smoothest and fastest graphics and refresh rate out there you will find no better than this Alienware 25". Yes, there are many monitors out there that run full HD on larger sizes (32 or 35), curved displays, or at 1440 and 4k definition. This monitors refreshes to a level that is required for professional level gaming, with 1ms response time and no artifacts or blur ever due to the amazing 240Hz refresh. From an Aesthetically point of view the lines and detailing of both the monitor itself and the base are gorgeous and elevate the monitor to a sculpture when not in use. The overall dimensions of the display stand due to the long stabilizer legs were a little large for my liking but the built in cord management and degree to which you could adjust the display were great. The display has ultra thin bezels which make it very appealing for multiple monitor gaming, but it will be difficult to set up the multiple monitors because of the size of the display. Obviously you can look at other monitor stands but the mounting for VESA is not obvious as the built in bracket uses a cantilever design instead and it makes me personally nervous to unscrew from the backing in order to mount on to third party hardware. The monitor comes in two different flavors, this $500 FreeSync one is optimized for Radeon graphics cards. I tried it out with and without all the additional display options on while running BF1 in full Ultra and I honestly couldn't tell the difference but I'm sure a dozen people will downvote me and explain how poor my eyesight is. FWIW. Ultimately the price is going to be a factor. $500 is in the upper echelon of cost even in the ultimate gaming space. If you are serious about you're gaming, and want the edge against everyone else, regardless of the cost -- this is the elite Monitor for you with the best response time and most responsive graphics. If you're looking for the most widely functional display look elsewhere.

Upon first seeing this monitor the design is truly astonishing. This is one of greatest aspects of Alienware products, in my opinion, is that they are some of the most aesthetically pleasing products. You can definitely tell that they are not cheaply made and are of the utmost quality. Visual satisfaction is not the only facet though as functionality is clearly evident as well especially when noticing the minimal bezels, which is great when using a multiple monitor setup. As far as performance this monitor was great for fast paced shooters. I put multiple hours of counter-strike and overwatch through this monitor and there was no lag or ghosting at all. This is definitely one of the most fluid monitors I`ve ever used that is for sure and definitely is useful when playing those competitive shooters. The only downfall I can see with this monitor is that it is only 1080p and thus when it comes to more visually appealing single player games you may not fully reap the full visual benefits of the games. However, this monitor is targeted more towards those competitive esports players to whom will definitely not be dissapoointed.

The images on this monitor are stunning. It is a full HD 1920x1080 display, that has fantastic viewing angles; from almost any angle I could not see any color blurring or shifting. In the dark I could not see any light leakage, and the brightness (and it is bright) was very consistent. But this monitor is designed for gaming, with a 1ms response time at 240hz it is 4-8 times faster than your typical display. And it has several built in display modes based on the types of game you are playing (FPS, RPG and RTS) and multiple game settings to store you personal calibration levels (very helpfuls as some games are very dark and others are normally bright, saving your play modes is quite useful and save a lot of time when moving from game to game.. The monitor has a anti glare (matte) finish, this is one of the first anti glare monitors I've used that has the crispness as a glossy monitor. when using with fast frame rate game like Doom, the images were crisp, and smooth; I tested this monitor with a Dell AMD 7+ RX580; the Free Sync mode of this monitor is designed work best with Freesync video adapters like the Rx580. With Doom I was seeing over 150 FPS with no artifacts, I've literally never seen a display that was this fast with this resolution. I also tested with Flight Simulator X and was again blown away with the quality, no matter how quick a move was the display kept up, without any tearing or ghosting (as I've often seen on my "gaming Laptop". This was a whole new experience. The monitor and it's stand are quite heavy (well built), the stand allows the monitor to be used in either portrait or landscape mode easily turning it without fear of it falling down. It comes with a HDMI, and USB 3.0 cable, the USB cable brings 3 additional ports (w/power charging) to the monitor (a real convenience on the desktop). The monitor can also be connected via display port (it has 2 HDMI in ports, I guess one for DVD/BR input) I believe the HDMI input must be used with Freesync I really can't see anyone out growing this monitor, it's as fast as they get with a gorgeous image used with a AMD video card supporting Free sync you won't find a better pair.

    Best In Class Gaming Monitor

This Alienware 25 Gaming Monitor with AMD Free Sync technology is as smooth as can be and I am truly impressed with how well this monitor handles gaming, video, and design. With an AMD Radeon graphics card on your desktop you can unleash the full potential of this monitor and use the Free Sync Technology which allows for smoother gameplay which I definitely noticed even with graphics on my games at max levels. There were no choppy scenes in any of my gameplays and I never noticed any drop in frame rates. You are also able to keep track of all the statistics of this monitor through AMD's software for each specific game that you play. AMD's overclocking features that help monitor and control GPU activity, temp, clock, and fan settings is extremely useful for maintaining a healthy PC when you are trying to push your rig to its limits and it is was extremely easy to use for me. The monitor displays in full 1920x1080 resolution and I could not be more pleased with the default settings. The display settings for the monitor could be accessed by pushing any of the buttons(other than power) beneath the screen where you can customize the colors, sharpness, and even customize the buttons to access certain quick settings for the monitor. If you want the first button to take you to the source then you can map it to do that which is really useful in my opinion. At 25 inches this monitor is a great size for PC or even console gaming as the monitor does include 2 HDMI ports but keep in mind that you won't get to experience the true potential through HDMI as it caps out at 60Hz while this monitor is capable of 240Hz refresh rates. For the PC gamers you will want to use the DP 1.2 port if your desktop also has that port available as this will allow for the Free Sync Tech to function correctly. The screen itself has very little bezels with only the bottom of the screen having "ALIENWARE" written out which I personally think is very cool. Audio for this monitor is very lack luster but you do have the option to use headphones as it comes with a headphone jack and most people like myself just use speakers that I have hooked up to my desktop but it's always nice to have an alternative option. The monitor itself is adjustable via the stand that is included with this product. The stand snaps right onto the monitor and there is no need to screw anything in. I really enjoyed this as it is easy to remove the monitor from the stand and also put on. The monitor can also rotate on the stand in both left and right directions if you want your display to be portrait style and also has tilt capabilities included. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this Alienware gaming monitor as it is smooth and crisp. I am able to customize the display to my liking and with AMD Free Sync my GPU and monitor are able to synchronize with each other to provide seamless gameplay. It is truly a work of art using this monitor to play games, watch 1080p videos, and work on my graphic designs.

This Alienware monitor is exceptional on my Dell Inspiron gaming desktop but it is also great for console gaming. If you are looking for a monitor that can perform well for both PC and console then you can't go wrong with this one. The monitor sports two HDMI ports and a DP port for fluid gaming. You'll get to experience the true potential of this monitor with a compatible CPU so if you have a computer with an AMD processor and graphics card then you will be able to use it's free sync technology. I tried my desktop with both AMD free sync on and off and the difference is very noticeable in graphically intense games like Forza Motorsport. One of my favorite things about this monitor is the very thin bezels which gives you more screen to play with and the ability to add a second monitor where you'll get a seamless blend between the two screens. The monitor is also very versatile and can be manipulated to a position where you'll be comfortable gaming or performing other tasks on it. The response time on this monitor and refresh rates are also very impressive at 1ms and 240Hz. My only issue with this monitor is that it does not have integrated speakers so you'll have to use an external setup or connect some headphones to the audio jack beneath the monitor. It's an easy fix so I didn't knock off a star for it. Overall, this monitor is amazing and it will be my newest gaming monitor for both console and PC gaming. The picture quality is astonishing and my games have never looked so good.

And it should be for this price, as its an enthusiast level monitor. The best is the Nvidia G-synch version of this same monitor, which I also tried out. Its a pretty close matchup, but you do pay extra for the G-synch tech in the other version of this monitor. Don't confuse this monitor for the G-synch, as this one does NOT have RGB LED lighting on the back at all. If you have a AMD Freesynch capable video card, this monitor can handle synching with your video card for 240Hz. NATIVE, not overclocked. And 1ms gray to gray. Yes, it is silky smooth frame rate. I personally can't tell any difference once I get above 144Hz, but more is better I guess. It has a USB 3.0 hub built in to connect to USB 3.0 on your PC, and one of the two USB 3.0 ports right at the front bottom of monitor is marked for charging. There is also a headphone jack on the back of the unit to plug a line out from your PC to, so you can plug headphones into the front bottom of the monitor, right between the two USB 3.0 ports. When I do this I have to switch "Playback Devices" in Windows 10 to "Dell AW2518 High Definition Audio Device" to hear the headphones. The Color on this monitor is very very good. Has built in On screen overlay of timer or frame rate. If you buy this, it will probably be your LAST 1080p monitor. By the time your are done with this monitor in 4 to 7 years, I'd wager no one will be producing any enthusiast 1080p monitors anymore.

I have owned a fair share of televisions and computer monitors in my lifetime. Sharp image quality, accurate color reproduction and good viewing angles are usually what gets my attention with display screens. Response time is sometimes overlooked and under appreciated and the FreeSync feature with this monitor sure makes a difference. FreeSync is AMD's version of synching the monitor's refresh rate with your compatible AMD graphics card. This helps to eliminate screen tearing and choppiness which is a big plus for video playback and especially gaming. My past experience with quality monitors always had some slight screen tearing or some lag even though my PC specs were high enough to handle the task. I do not see any tearing of any kind with this monitor utilizing FreeSync. The AW2518HF's exterior looks very nice with the angular base stand and the bezel appears relatively thin all around. Monitor is certainly not lightweight by any means with a weight of nearly 16 pounds. One thing this display has plenty of is connection ports: 2 HDMI, 1 Display Port, 2 USB 3.0, line-out and headphone jack. Ultra fast 1ms response time paired with 240HZ equates to fluid videos and images. I like to use Flight Simulator X to test graphics cards and displays as their is constant object movement and high resolution imagery. Landscape and sky textures remained very smooth with no jagged pauses or screen lag. A testament to the monitor's very high performance level. Overall this monitor is a terrific compliment to any gaming PC with its minimal 1ms response time and 240HZ refresh rate. Alienware gaming has teamed with Dell to deliver some impressive hardware to dominate high end PC games and this monitor only helps with that cause.

Using this monitor for just under a week, so far I’m very impressed. The gaming experience is flawless, quick refresh rate means no hiccups, and a smooth experience. The colors are incredible, brilliant and bright. Basic computing is great, but where this really shines are multimedia experiences. Watching movies, gaming, and viewing photos are just incredible. Movies are a terrific experience, colors pop, Crystal clear picture and smooth replay. Viewing photos is great, again, the rich colors just make the photos pop. This is a monitor that is well worth the money and is highly recommended.

I just got this monitor but so far its great and even better than expected in some ways. I'm only giving it 4 stars because I did notice some slight uneven back lighting with some brighter spots towards the edges. Its not noticeable at every angle and with some adjustment of the screen you won't notice while right in front of the screen. With the screen adjusted to the best angle you have a great view. That said I am very happy with this screen and zero dead pixels! The monitor stand is heavy and strong and assembly only took seconds. It came with a Display Port cable and USB-3 cable. This screen can be adjusted in every way I could have wanted. The stand, adjustablility, and included cables were for me stand out features beyond the screen itself. And other than the minor complaint above this screen is amazing!

This is a beautiful monitor that delivers stunning imagery on screen while looking great on your desk while it does it. Design quality is seems high, with gorgeous LED backlighting incorporated into the rear of the monitor. I will say that the monitor case is plastic when they could have gone with aluminum or some other higher quality material. No such complaints on the stand however, which feel heavy in a grounded way and sturdy. The stand is is large however, and the bold design may not be everyone as it does project a specific style. When you actually get turn this monitor on is when it really stands out. This is a GSync compatible version AW2518HF. GSync and the backlighting are the only difference between the two and those two options do cost you $200 difference. That can be a tough ask for the additional features since decent 24" 1440p monitors can be had for that price difference, and at $700 for this monitor you could also find some UHD 4k tvs -- BUT the features here are really worth it if you want to absolute best experience from your Nvidia graphics card. The contrast is crisp, and you really can tell the difference in response time and refresh rate with this monitor when comparing it to mid-range, run-of-the-mill displays. The bezel is minimal on top and sides, make multiple monitors arrange horizontally quite nice. Overall I'm very impressed with this quality both with the functionality and the design of this Monitor.

The packaging was like Fort Knox - in a good way. The assembly was a breeze and all of the cables I needed came in the package. Setup from the CD was very quick and I was able to start using the monitor within about 15 minutes of opening the box. There are a daunting number of options for the picture settings, but using the online manuals, it was pretty straight forward. Make sure you set up the refresh rate properly, mine was stuck on 60 Hz at first, until I completed set up in Windows, Alienware software, and the graphics card - this was a bit of a hassle until I just did a couple of google searches. If I was going to complain about anything, it would have been nice for the system to somehow recognize the numerous refresh options and pop-up a window to prompt selection and do the settings in the background. The picture, whether streaming video, online game play, and offline game play was super cool. I didn't see any lag or redundant frames regardless of what I was doing. Smite, Overwatch, Neverwinter Nights, and DOTA2 all looked superb. Granted, I am using a new Dell 5675 Gaming PC with Ryzen 7 1700, 16 GB RAM, and Radeon RX580, so the system is probably not hurting the quality either, but regardless, this is an awesome monitor. The screen height, angle, level, etc are all adjustable.

Hi! I recieved this monitor with 2 dead pixels, which I was pretty unhappy about. Since I was upgrading from 60hz, this monitor felt amazing, but the pixels always caught my attention. I decided to do an exchange for a new product, and I'm so happy I did. My new product has no dead pixels, and it shipped in only a day. I'm so happy with this monitor. The colors are very nice, it feels ultra-smooth while playing CounterStrike:GO. I also got it for a record saving of $250 at the time. 100% worth it!
