I needed something that could handle photo and video editing. I've always considered building a PC but I needed something quickly, and found this beast of a machine. Love the unique look, love that it has a top of the line video card, and it's super quiet for as much power as it has. I'm looking forward to a lot of years with this PC.

Boy was I wrong. First issue - stock it sounds like a jet engine, and runs flaming hot. I'm not one to harp about having a system so quiet you cant hear it boot up, but this thing is ridiculous. Impossible to ignore, WITH a headset on. Fix - install a water cooler. (I went with the H60) Second issue- Now that you've got your H60 installed, you should no longer be thermal throttling. But will still be running HOT. Sadly the case is the WORST case I've ever had the displeasure of owning. VERYYY little airflow through it. Fix- play games with side panel & top cover removed. I've replaced all the stock fans with Corsair ML120 Pro's. Which has helped, but nothing can solve NO AIRFLOW in a case. DO NOT BUY this unless you are comfortable working on it. Also- MY HDD came broken, where the SATA cable plugs in, the plastic is snapped. Meaning this was NOT inspected by geek squad or anyone as described.

But the Aurora R9 was easy to install and started working perfectly from the start. I am not a heavy gamer -- more of a developer -- and I find this computer to be quiet compared to the Area 51 R2. If anyone asks if they should buy an Alienware Aurora R9, I would tell them HELL YES!
