Highly recommend, I use hope in the future you get a better keyboard and mouse. Because no one wants to use a 2010 peripherals.

Very nice PC for gaming and can be upgraded with minimal effort. Replaced the loud air cooler for the CPU with a corsair aio to improve the cooling and the noise. Overall, this will last a good amount of time as smaller 3080s are being made that can fit this smaller case design.

Runs extremely well. Fast boot up with the SSD (Solid State Drive) and a fairly large Storage to the basic hard drive. A bit pricey for those looking for a gaming computer but real pretty exterior (looks like a jet engine). Does not have a CD drive at all but that is 'old tech', and several USB ports up front for ease of access. Make sure you get the monitor that can keep up with this beast for your gaming needs. Down side is when you start overclocking (Pushing the graphics card) all those fans will make it sound like a jet engine. Very noisy but you will get over that when you see what it is doing on screen.
Only had one issue with it's boot up where it froze but fixed it in safe mode (Update download was mismanaged - my fault).
Over all great computer. If you the sheckles to shell out you won't regret it. It is a bit pricey.
I love this computer.

I have been using this PC for about a week now so I feel like I have a pretty good grasp on what you can expect when you unpack it at home. I have been playing with computers for over 20 years now and generally build all my own stuff. I have always been curious about alienware though, both before and after Dell purchased the brand, so I decided to give this a try. I picked this up to update a aging PC that I use primarily for sim racing. Old PC was a i7-3770 and GTX 1080 with 16gb ddr3 ram.
First thing I did of course was pop off the side cover to see what we are working with and make sure nothing came loose in shipping. Once I was in there I noted a few things about the hardware Alienware used. The ram is a Kingston HyperX (2x 8gb sticks), the graphics card uses a blower style cooler, and the CPU cooler leaves a bit to be desired. The packaging itself is fairly clever but it definitely sacrifices cooling capability unfortunately. With so much horsepower standard though overclocking shouldn't be much of a concern, not to mention this is not a unlocked processor so overclocking capability will be limited regardless. For gaming the cooling will be adequate for pretty much everything on the market currently. If you do video rendering/editing or more CPU/GPU intensive tasks however, this thing is going to get hot and throttle the clocks as seen with a standard PRIME95 test. So I had to dock a star just for the disappointing overhead the cooling components have. Continuing on the cooling gripes this computer definitely gets loud if you opt to use one of the more aggressive fan profiles. These fans spin at surprisingly high RPMS and generate a lot of noise at full bore. Again under normal gaming circumstances with standard fan profile and no overclocking I would consider the amount of noise acceptable.
Hardware wise between the 9th gen 9700 and 2080 Super you have a PC that will run any of todays games at 1440p with high settings or 4k with medium to high settings. Ray-tracing will still be tough but the optimization since release has allow for higher more consistent frame rates with that enabled. Frame rates were increased a solid 40+ on average over my old I7-3770 and GTX 1080 rig. I tested primarily iRacing and Destiny 2 at 1440P, both were able to keep the framerates high for my 144hz monitor making for silky smooth gaming.
The storage is pretty good on this. It appears to be a samsung nvme SSD and a western digital blue 1tb traditional HDD. Samsung makes some of the best SSD on the market. I did not look up the specs of the nvme samsung drive, just confirmed the brand used. There are extra bays in the case to allow for additional hard drive expansion if you desire in the future.
Overall these days computer hardware prices are pretty competitive. To be frank if you are comfortable assembling something yourself you can build this PC for about $100-$150 less but you wont have the warranty/support from Dell (if that means anything to you) and obviously be responsible for all your own problems that you may encounter. It seems like a fair price for the hardware and the performance is what you would expect from these parts. I do think that they cut some corners on the cooling, but if all you are gonna do is load up some Fortnite, Apex Legends, Destiny 2, CSGO, or any other modern game and want solid frame rates at pretty much any resolution (~60FPS+ at 4k in most games if you dont get too crazy with the settings) this will do it for you.

I'm not gonna lie, the first time hearing this beast ramp up it's cpu cooling fan it took me a bit by surprise, especially after owning the Aurora R8 (previous design) which is very quiet albeit a totally different case design. The system is very quiet when not under heavy CPU load, but just be prepared if you get in an area with tons of particle effects that stress the cpu or perhaps are rendering something or running benchmark software :) you're going to hear that fan rev up about as loud as a box fan sitting in the room until it cools itself down! I think the case design with lots of air flow vents on the top rear of the machine really doesn't help with the noise level. So, just know that if you're looking for a whisper quiet rig, you'll probably want to plan on adding some liquid cooling and replacing the cpu fan. That's really the only thing I can complain about with this system, so I thought I'd get it out right away.
The new design of the R9 is very futuristic and quite aesthetically pleasing. It immediately reminded me of Eve from Wall-E :) All of the front ports are on the face of the case in the center, and are surrounding by a Dyson-esque ring of vents for airflow. The case lighting ring runs around the center port area and looks really good. Don't expect to sit anything on the top of the case or find any ports there, as it's pretty steeply rounded and devoid of any ports. Very clean look, but some might miss top functionality.
I ran this machine through userbenchmark.com and it earned their top rating of UFO in Gaming (122%), Desktop (143%), and Workstation (124%) metrics, which is by far the best results I've ever gotten with any PC's I've owned. Here is their summary:
PC Status: Overall this PC is performing above expectations (74th percentile). This means that out of 100 PCs with exactly the same components, 26 performed better. The overall PC percentile is the average of each of its individual components.
Processor: With a brilliant single core score, this CPU is the business: It demolishes everyday tasks such as web browsing, office apps and audio/video playback. Additionally, this processor can handle typical workstation, and even moderate server workloads. Finally, with a gaming score of 95.3%, this CPU's suitability for 3D gaming is outstanding.
Graphics: 132% is an outstanding 3D score, it's the bee's knees. This GPU can handle almost all 3D games at very high resolutions and ultra detail levels.
Boot Drive: 305% is an exceptional SSD score. This drive is suitable for heavy workstation use, it will facilitate fast boots, responsive applications and allow for fast transfers of multi-gigabyte files.
Memory: 16GB is enough RAM to run any version of Windows and it's more than sufficient for nearly all games. 16GB also allows for very large file and system caches, software development and batch photo editing/processing.
So, yeah... it's going to handle pretty much anything you throw at it.
If you're a Fortnite player, expect to run in Ultra settings at 120 fps pretty consistently. World of Warcraft was running on Ultra settings with 80-100 sustained fps in 1080p. Skyrim Special Edition ran at a constant 60 fps in max settings. 3DMark scored 9755 which is better than 87% of all results. VRMark scored 11659, which is pretty excellent. I can't wait to try the Oculus with this beast!
Lots of ports on the system with a good combination of USB, USB 3.1, USB-C, Display Port (3) and HDMI (1) on the graphics card. No DVD/Blueray on this setup, so if that's a concern you might want to pickup an external one for when you once in a while need that.
The system comes with Alienware Command Center which allows you to tweak all the lighting, thermal / fan settings, cpu / gpu over-clocking, advanced audio settings / enhancements, so that's very nice for the tweakers! Note my benchmarks results were without any overclocking!
One thing to mention is my system came with the 2080 Super instead of the 2070. Not sure if that was a mistake, but it's performing about 25% faster than my 2700 equipped R8 benchmarks. Not complaining!
Looking forward to throwing an extra SSD in the convenient slots inside the PC case when I need some more room, but for now I have a ways to go until I need more room. SUUUUPER fast boot SSD in this system!
I'm excited to see hot the next 5 years of gaming goes, but I'm pretty certain this system will last me for the next 5 years in stride! I would definitely recommend this system to a friend that wants an easy to setup and get running no fuss gaming powerhouse. 1 hour or less and you can be setup, Windows updates installed, and downloading your favorite games from Steam or EPIC or wherever.
Happy gaming!

Coming from an older alien ware, this definitely has a lot of pick up and go for games. But like most other owners and reviewers with this product air cooled from best buy it can be noiser... My last aurora had liquid cooling and while YES at times it piped up, its not like this one... I'm hoping a few more updates for nvidia and bios will help fully settle it down... Also wondering if the 7200 drive right up in front also falsely fools the coolers because that's where I save my games... Debating in the future an upgrade of a rotational drive to an 2.5" SSD which sits on the bottom of the case and not front intakes to see if it could help.. But not just yet, as its still new and cost justify doesn't deem it necessary now, otherwise I would have ordered directly from Dell.
but otherwise hardware components and upgradability you can't beat the price on this device, especially if you can grab it while it is on sale.

I've always been a DIY PC type, since for the longest time it was almost impossible to find the specs you wanted in an off-the-shelf configuration, followed by a period in which manufacturers could throw midrange gear in a garishly decorated box, call it a gaming PC and charge a premium for it. These days, however, it's almost not worth my time carefully choosing parts, ensuring their compatibility with each other, waiting for them to arrive, then planning my wiring, and spending the afternoon swearing at everyone that comes near while I will some life into the smattering of electronics that I had so delicately put together, when I can instead get a completely put together, amazingly powerful rig that comes with a warranty.
When I unboxed the Alienware Aurora, my first thought was, wow, this thing even looks fast. Taking a design cue from some sort of futuristic nuclear propulsion system, this looked like a serious piece of kit. My second thought was, man, how am I going to even get into that thing? Because like every other serious DIY PC type, I have a bin full of parts that have gone with me from PC to PC, and at least one HDD with my library of games that I don't want to have to spend the time redownloading. Now that games are easily clearing the 100GB+ download sizes due to the 4k textures and 10channel audio, having to redownload your games could take days, not to mention the havoc it would wreak on a metered internet connection. Unfortunately, getting into the guts of the Aurora was quite a hassle due to the large plastic parts adorning the steel case this PC is built around. I had to download a service manual just so that I could figure out how to take off the side panels, because I was afraid of snapping off one of the plastic tabs holding things together. I also was confused, because with how big the tower is, it feels pretty cramped for space in there, but again, there is a ton of plastic all over this thing. The power supply cage was also daunting to deal with.
Once powered on, this thing was pretty much a dream machine. The big and beefy i7 9700k processor and RTX 2080 Super GPU makes short work of any task you can throw at it. I ran Time Spy in 3DMark and walked away with a score of 10383, besting my previous score of 9280 with last year's 8700k and 2080 GPU combo. The huge and blazing fast 512GB SSD is large enough to store and run several of this year's AAA games without having to slowly load them from the larger HDD.
Running Overwatch on all max settings barely caused this baby to flinch. Since it just came out, I also threw on The Outer Worlds for Xbox gamepass for PC. I'm not sure if it's due to a lack of optimization, or just a lot more going on with the details and textures, but the newer game really caused my machine to work. It wasn't long before the fans kicked on full throttle, and boy did it get loud. It was eventually enough to elicit comment from my wife, trying to sleep a few feet away, since I keep my gaming PC in my bedroom. You don't want to get her started on the lighting.
You see, while this PC has the typical RGB lighting that is bog standard on every piece of gaming kit out there these days (including, for some reason, RGB mousepads?), there's also an annoyingly bright white light that I'm assuming is coming from the wifi module because it flashes quickly in seemingly random patterns. This is nearly unnoticeable in a lit up room, but once the lights go out, it's strobe city on the wall behind the computer. This can get very distracting, especially for other people in the room. And while it's possible to turn off the decorative lights adorning the case, instead of having them pulse through the various colors like an electric chameleon, the same isn't true for the wifi lights. The card itself is also blazing fast, pulling down over 32MBps while I was downloading more games to test out. The program that controls the RGB lighting doesn't have a lot of options to choose from either, as their color schemes are lacking in the granularity of control that other manufacturers provide for their lighting.
If you do your gaming alone, like to leave the lights on, always wear a headset, and don't have to worry about annoying anyone else in the room, then this is an amazing gaming PC that comes with the ever popular and helpful Dell support guarantee, something that you definitely don't get when you build a PC from a bunch of different parts that came in from all over the internet. The specs are powerful enough to blow the doors off the ultra settings on games for years to come (though gaming in 4k still takes a herculean amount of oomph under the hood). It's when you have to share the room with other people, like siblings, spouses, or college roommates, where this rig may cause some strife.

Computer is fast, and responsive. Plays MW at ultra settings with no problem. Fans do kick in when launching game but only for a few seconds then they lower and stay steady. PC looks sleek, and is well built. I returned an ibuypower because it was poorly built, and felt cheap compared to this one. Get this computer when it’s on sale. You will need to upgrade mouse, and keyboard because the ones included are very basic.

Very impressed. Never skips a beat. Air cooled & fans can be loud at times but not a dealbreaker. Fan Temps have hit 176 F. And that does warm room up which is fine. Had an R6 prior to this. R9 i like better. My opinion. Love it!! RTX 2080 super.

Thermals for this case are garbage. Whoever designed this case wanted something to look cool but completely disregarded airflow.
I should’ve water cooled it, it’s the only viable option if you want decent performance during intensive video game playing which is the only reason I chose this pc over others.

Yamil,
Thanks for your review and we're sorry that your new Alienware computer is not cooling as well as you hoped it would. We'd recommend using the Alienware Command Center to help with your thermal controls. The Control Center will allow you to select the best Thermal Profile for your system usage.
You can also try to update your system's BIOS to help with better overall performance for your computer.
