An awesome stereo gaming headset!

The Dell Alienware 310H Stereo Gaming Headset make not heads turn around given that it is only stereo and not 7.1 enabled. But the truth is, it can hold very well on its own. For a lot of casual gamers me and my son included, stereo sound would suffice. In fact we have 7.1 enabled headsets but actually use stereo mode only and not really tweaking the sound options. That said, let’s cut to the chase so to speak.
The design of the Alienware 310H is sleek and not too futuristic. In other words, the the Alienware 310H is more streamlined compared to others which look like it was patterned after a stealth fighter jet.
I like the fact that the earmuffs move instead of the headband extending making this more form fitting. However, the grip of the headband is too tight for me (I have a big head). And even with the cushy ear muffs, I can still feel the pressure over my ears.
The 310H comes with a retractable microphone which in my open is a cool feature. If I am not doing conversations and just watching or just listening to music, I can tuck away the microphone.
This gaming headset is Hi-Res Audio rated meaning you get 9Mbps audio meaning that it is seven times more that CD quality at 1.4Mbps or 29 time more that MP#s with a sampling bit rate of 320Kbps. My MP3s are only at 128Kbps so it is afar jump from what I’m used to. Simply said this is lossless or near lossless quality, This in my opinion compensates for the lack of 7.1 capabilities. But do note when I tried this with my Sandisk MP3 player, volume seemed to be lacking but quality is good. When used on the PC, the lack of volume is easily compensated by the PC’s built-in sound card.
Unfortunately as of this writing, I actually haven’t tested this on Discord though the box indicates that it is Discord certified. But I did try this headset on Zoom and Skype. And I must this is one of the better headsets I have used earn it comes to voice. Volume was loud and clear with emphasis on the clear. Other headsets that I have used have so so mic quality,
The packaging is simplistic though the design of the box is quire good. Inside the box are the headset itself, a manual (of sorts), and a cable with volume controls. And lastly, it also includes an adaptor if you do intend to use this on a desktop PC which has separate ports for output and input.
Overall, this is a good gaming headset if you don’t mind the lack of 7.1 capabilities. This is a highly recommended buy.

Great Everyday Use Headsets

There’s always a need for 3.5mm stereo headsets, even in this day and age. The Alienware 310H is a great choice of headsets for everyday use, even though they are designed for the gamer in mind. For me, they look cool, feel comfortable, and although its sound might feel lacking, they provide it where it counts the most.
Styling alone shows that these aren’t any ordinary headsets, and they definitely look cool, in my opinion. Because of its styling though, they appear to take a much larger footprint, so to speak, of your head because of how the band spans from end-to-end and they will appear very large when worn. The over-the-ear cups are very plush and comfortable and I did not feel any hotspots or pressure coming from them. The cups themselves can be adjusted so that the headset fits nicely. Construction-wise, they are mostly made of sturdy plastic and I imagine that these would hold up after hours of being worn; sun damage is your enemy so I’d keep these away from direct sunlight.
The mic is a non-detachable, retractable stem that can be bent and positioned closer or farther from your face, depending on your preference, which is good. Not using the mic? Just push it back into the housing and it almost disappears flush with the headset, but leaves just enough so you can pull it back out when you need to. The mic is always live, even hidden away, so you’ll have to be mindful of that and rely on the in-line mute switch. Along with the mic switch is the analog volume control, so you’ll ultimately have to deal with volume control levels with the device being the other control.
Soundwise, it’s clear they’re not meant for listening to high-fidelity music tracks. Bass is lacking quite a bit as well. But they appear to be tuned for emphasis on voice and the like in that frequency range. This benefits both the typical Zoom caller as well as those that are trying to listen to footsteps while playing a round of their favorite multiplayer FPS. Since these are analog headsets, there aren't many adjustments you can make on them and must rely on the source to make modifications. A big plus about these headsets is its passive noise canceling performance, which is
Back to my original point: there’s always a need for 3.5mm headsets and headphones for that matter, even today. Use cases include handheld gaming devices that lack a USB port or even Bluetooth but has an available 3.5mm jack, or even an ultra portable laptop that only supplies a single USB-A port alongside its 3.5mm jack. Heck, I was on a 6 hour flight the other day and they had in-flight entertainment, but the only way I was able to listen to it was with…you guessed it.
The Alienware 310H Headset comes with a detachable 3.5mm cable with in-line volume control and mic mute. It also comes with a stereo/mic line splitter adapter for situations where you have a separate mic jack, typically found on a PC motherboard panel, for example.

Great headset that does not break the bank

The Alienware 310H gives you decent sound & are affordable. It has a premium build along with a comfortable fit that allows you to play games for hours. The headset sound offers good bass with decent imaging & dynamic sound & excellent microphone, to converse with teammates on Discord/Chat.
Negatives: No noise cancellation feature on mic.
The stylish design headset is all-black and has a matte texture with an overall very modern look. The Alienware logo is embellished on the back on the headband extenders on either side and has a glossy finish. Earcups are made from memory foam for comfort & these materials optimize cooling & comfort while isolating outside sounds. I found them breathable, comfortable to wear. Ear cups are well-padded & not too tight on the ears.
The wired headset which comes with a 3.5mm audio cable that has a n-line remote control with volume control. There’s also a microphone mute switch on the back. You also get an additional Y-splitter cable & headset is cross-platform compatibility: PCs, laptops, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. I tried it with my PC & Steam Deck device with the great sound & communication while playing online games. The voice relayed clearly and it didn’t sound distorted. However, external sounds are picked up by the microphone.
These are a decent option if you're in the market for a wired mid-range minimalist gaming headset.

Comfortable ear cups, device powered headset

Comfortable ear cups, device powered headset.
The earcups are adjustable for a perfect fit. The hidden microphone stows nicely into the LEFT side earpiece. Good quality sound reproduction from the mic. The microphone can be muted from the control built into the cord which rest nicely at mid chest for me. The RED outline lets you know you are LIVE or off mic. A real dial type volume control also sits within this pod, which is easier to work than reaching for it on the earpiece as in other headset designs.
No frills, just a solid good sounding headset, at a fair price. Great for games, TEAM meetings etc.,.
Alienware proudly embossed their logo on the earpieces as well as the control PODS. The plug in jacks are nicely made. Placement for the jack on the earpiece is good and doesn't hinder its use. I like the quality of fabric used on the ear cups, as well as the stitching. And for those of us who never seem to know their right from their left, Alienware embossed the letters "L " and "R" inside the earpieces. I am fairly use to the mic being on my left side.

Sound, Style, and Comfort. The Holy Trifecta!

I've never purchased an Alienware accessory before, but knowing the quality of their gaming rigs, I was assuming that the AW310H would be a nice pair of headphones but that was wrong. They are a GREAT pair of headphones!
In this day and age, there are so many choices you can make when buying a pair of gaming headphones. A lot of the high end 'cans' boast of all-day comfort but these are the first I've had in years that I feel actually meet that criteria. Ever since I lost most of the natural padding on the top of my head, this has become even more critical to my enjoyment of a pair of headphones. I will usually drop my audio quality requirement to ensure comfort, because a headphone that sounds great doesn't mean much when you can't wear it. The padding on the ears and headband of the AW310H is incredible. It's like one of the super-nice memory foam pillows you can get. Also, the variability of the ear cups both vertically as well as rotationally ensures a good fit. I've seen too many high-end headphones that don't give one of the other of those two and that is unacceptable.
The great part is that I didn't have to sacrifice ANY of my sound requirement to get super comfortable wear. These Alienware headphones sound as good as they feel. I have used these plugged into my laptop as well as my Xbox and the sound has been on point and very neutral sounding. Not too boomy or sharp. When I plugged it into an external DAC for my laptop these puppies really shine! That goes for games AND music.
Control is really easy with a simple dongle at about chin level on the removable cord. There is a volume wheel and a slide toggle for mute/active mic. This cord is my only complaint about the entire package. While mostly made of plastic, the AW310s feel solid and well-built, but the cable screams bargain bin at the electronics store. When I retrieved the cable out of the bottom of the box, I assumed that this was a 'mobile' cord for on-the-go gaming and not the 'main' cable for at home, but no, this is it. Alienware could really up their game in the cable requirement by making cloth covered, with better connectors and strain relief.
Finally, the mic quality is pretty solid. I actually don't talk a lot in games, even the social ones, but when I got on with my fleet through Discord, my team said that I sounded strong and clear. I also dig that the mic rolls up nice and tight back into the ear cup.
If you are looking for a gaming headset without unneeded bells and whistles, sounds and feels great, and just works, you can not go wrong with these Alienware AW310H headphones. These are my new favorite gaming headset, replacing my audiophile pair that I have plugged in currently and was my previous comfort winner, but wasn't always great for gaming.

I have enjoyed using this headset. It’s different but in a good way. There was definitely some engineering behind how this was constructed. At first impression it looks black sleek and cool. Each side of the earmuffs/speakers look like the design of the front of an Alienware desktop. Upon further inspection you find that the microphone pulls out of your left ear muff and is retractable. This is the first time I experienced using a retractable microphone and I easily got use to having it. As you pull the mic out it will stop at any distance that you stop it. If your done using it or want it hidden. Push it back into the muff and you will forget that it’s there. This makes it great if you want to use this headphones for audio at times and not feel like a fool with a mic sticking out. The mic is crisp and all of my friends said they could always hear me loud and clear. Next, the head band is also engineered in a different way and it helps make the headphones feel high quality. Rather the band extending in our out; each muff actually moves up or down on the band. This makes the headset larger but I actually prefer this larger band as it gives more comfort. The muffs feel great on my head and although the headset is larger I think it is intentional. Speakers are of good quality and to me are standard to similar gaming headsets with 50mm drivers. I am able to play warfare and hear steps walking around me which is what I need to play first person shooting games. I have been going wireless lately but to be honest having the cord is sometimes just easier and better. I don’t have to worry about batteries and there seems to be less distortion in audio compared to using wireless. It’s not often wireless has distortion these days but I still come across it. Having the ability to plug this headset right into my pc is great and maintenance free. Although if you are a multi tasker while waiting on those loading screens like me than you sometimes wish you had wireless. The reason I gave this review 4 stars rather than 5 is I wash the headphones had RGB lighting in the front where each muff looks like an Alienware style like the front of their desktops.

Another year another Alienware 310H wired gaming headset, wow it’s obvious Alienware love this version of gaming headset that they continue to produce it every year, the design looks fantastic id give em that, this design is also pretty much unchanged for the past couple years now the packaging is also Identical the to all Alienware 310H they have before this one, the packaging looks fantastic as always, simplistic with its slip up design show casing the headset itself.
there’s really nothing much had change with this headset it’s kinda disappointing honestly that alienware still haven’t revised this the 310H still have the spaceship like design, the re tracklable microphone is still here. one of the major thing i’ve notice about the headset is the price. I still remember this headset being $99.99 and now it retail for $79.99 so that part is kinda positive I think the $79.99 price is a lot better than being then $99.99 value it used to have. but that $20 dollar difference also have some trade offs that i’ve notice.
the memory foam ear pads had been changed, around the foam it used to have this leather like texture around the foam and the rest would be cloth memory foam to top it off, I new something was off putting it on and looking at the headset i’ve noticed it right away. still have its custom tuned 50mm Hi RES honestly I don’t think alienware made much changes to these speakers. there’s still a 3.5mm jack thats also been around for awhile and still look the same, the splitter is also present and from what I can remember there was another adapter that can be used for consoles gaming, they pretty much reduced that, I plugged this on my xbox to test it out. with just the standard jack that came in the box everything worked like a charm. audio and chat was all present. including the ability to mute.
but if you want the 310H to fully shine you would want to plug this on your gaming PC, alienware also have their own software, and the software is also a great addition for this headset, I think it’s one of the few things that alienware get it right. there is a ton of option when it comes to customizing how you want this headset to sound. you have the ability to turn off 7.1 audio, I prefer keeping it on coz I think it sounded great. but you be surprised how much EQ you can modify on alienwares software, I would pick the software as the highlight when it comes to this headset. for $79.99 and having these much access to customize it’s hard to ignore.
I love the look of alienware 310H but I just wish alienware would actually improve it a little bit more. the previous ear pads looks way better and feels better, I had issue wearing this cheaper ear
pads and it pretty much causes the foam to wrinkle when wearing it, it was such a let down. is it a great headset for the price, id say yeah. great amount of customizable setting specially if you’re a pc user. other than that, I would prob not buy this headset just because I feel like alienware is not really trying to improve its design. yea I get it if ain’t broken don’t fix it, but you can still re fresh the look a little bit, gives more of an upgrade than trading something away.

Comfortable And Great Sounding Gaming Headset

The Alienware 310H are wired headphones. They look good and the overall design is great. They have a 3.5mm jack on bottom of the left ear piece. The cable has a soft coating on it and is very flexible. It comes with a Y adapter so you can connect to the headphone port of your laptop or computer and also the microphone port. The cable also has a volume dial on it as well as a mic mute feature.
The mic arm rolls up into the left earpiece and is tucked out of the way when you don’t need to use it. When you need it, you just pull and extend it out. The arm of the mic is flexible and high adjustable. Once adjusted, it will stay that way unless you bump it, but if that were to happen you can easily readjust it. I like it much better than other headphone mic arm designs.
Each earpiece swivels 90 degrees so they will adjust well to the user. The soft earpiece material is soft and allowed me to wear the headphones for gaming sessions up to about 5 hours before I get to the point where I need to take a break from wearing them. The headband material is the same as the earpieces and is just as soft.
As far as the audio quality, they have 50mm drivers which reproduce high quality audio. Music sounds good and, of course, audio in games is superb. I’ve put in many hours of game play with first person shooters using these and at no point did the audio cut out or crackle.
I haven’t had any problems with them working with my Alienware system and they work great with Windows 11. The Alienware310H headset and mic are a great option for any gamer. I would recommend them to someone who is looking for wired gaming headphones and mic that are comfortable and look amazing.
