This laptop was beautiful. From the leds to the packaging. Unfortunately, after 1 day mine started crashing while playing games. Even sitting on a fan. In the same night the screen started glitching out making it impossible to do or see anything. The 5th day it deleted all my games when I turned it on. That was the final straw. I returned it and got an msi.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After searching for weeks for a new laptop to replace my seven year old MSI GE72 (17", 16GB,Intel I7, GTX970M), I finally settled on this one (my first Dell). Bad decision. The X15 R1 looks very cool, extremely fast, superb display and the RTX 3070 that I wanted in a new laptop. However, I couldn't fall in love with this machine the first few minutes I turned it on. It runs hot updating and questionably warm just sitting idle. The Alienware Command Center is laggy with menu options after that you sometimes wonder if it has died/hung-up. The con that finally did me in was the audio on a music video. I compared it to my old laptop and my Galaxy S22U phone and both of those sound far, far better than the X15 (even with profile adjustments). The sound is like some 40 year old, pocket transistor radio that my grandfather owns. For the price of the laptop, I'd expect much better. Seems they invested money in the flashy design and left out some of the lesser internals that are important to many. It's going back and I'll try my best to find something Bestbuy has available that suits my needs.

Thank you very much for your valued feedback. We apologize for the issues you have come across with your Dell Alienware x15 R1 gaming laptop because the sound quality of the speaker is not good, it is overheating and performing slowly.
Below I have provided the steps to run the Microsoft Sound Troubleshooter. I have also included the full article link that has more options if they are needed. We also suggest making sure the audio drivers are up to date on your PC. I have given you a link to the Drivers and Downloads page for your computer below so you can check for and do any applicable updates.
How to run the Windows Sound Troubleshooter in Microsoft Windows 10
1. Click Start, and then select Settings (gear icon).
2. Click Update & Security and select Troubleshoot.
3. Click Playing Audio and then click Run the troubleshooter.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.

To help with overheating, I have provided troubleshooting tips with the full article that can help to resolve this issue:
1. Make sure the system is in a well-ventilated area.
2. Use laptops on flat surfaces to improve airflow. Hard table tops are recommended and avoid using any type of cloth or any other soft material under the laptop.
3. For desktop systems make sure there is enough clearance around the system to allow the air to flow. If the system is in an enclosure try to move it to a more ventilated area for testing.
4. Check that the air vents are clean and that there is nothing obstructing them.
5. Update your system BIOS to the latest available in Dell Support Site.
6. You can reset your BIOS settings to undo any changes that could be causing the system to overheat.
7. Disable NVIDIA G SYNC and run a stress test using SupportAssist.
8. Navigate to the Thermal Controls in the Alienware Command Center, which is found under the Fusion tab. There you can adjust the thermal control of system fans and change the status of active venting. My only gripe is that the ram is not upgradeable, and you can only get 16gb from best buy (i think). That being said I wouldn't pay $2,200 for this, I got mine as an open box in Satisfsctory condition for under $1,300. Thats a fantastic deal imo. If you can afford it and don't mind the extra bulk, get the 17" which you can upgrade the ram on. First one I picked up had a cpu cooling deficiency. Exchanged it within 15 days and had no problems, customer service was excellent.

Played Totalwar Warhammer 3, Kenshi, Madden X4 on high setting and ran well I haven't tried Cyber Punk yet but Im so happy I can expand my video game experience does run hot but get a cooling fan and you be fine.

You already know all the specs, so I will tell you something that may get overlooked, which is the coolness and convenience of the webcam that is "Windows Hello" enabled. So just like you can unlock your iPhone by looking at it, now you can do that with your laptop. Everyone that comes over to visit takes a long hard look at my new Alienware x15, it is definitely the Cadillac of gaming laptops! The only upgrade I performed is Best Buy had the Samsung 980 Pro 1TB M.2 drives on sale, so I installed that and now boot up takes about 2 seconds. I saved up for a long time for this laptop and love the value!
