I love the design of the laptop especially with the cool light effects in the back. The start up on this is surprisingly quick. Already recommended to my other gaming friends and family!

I do really like Alienware but I am concerned about it being broken out of the box also the memory is soldered in to the board which is a draw back considering how many other options don't

Lol~ seriously though; he loves it, says runs so much faster and can easily handle graphics on games the he initially has lots of issues with in his old laptop.

We will share your comments about these issues with our quality team so improvements can be made now and in the future.
Below I have provided troubleshooting tips with the full article that can help resolve the overheating issue:
1. Make sure the system is in a well-ventilated area.
2. Use laptops on flat surfaces to improve airflow. Hard table tops are recommended and avoid using any type of cloth or any other soft material under the laptop.
3. For desktop systems make sure there is enough clearance around the system to allow the air to flow. If the system is in an enclosure try to move it to a more ventilated area for testing.
4. Check that the air vents are clean and that there is nothing obstructing them.
5. Update your system BIOS to the latest available in Dell Support Site.
6. You can reset your BIOS settings to undo any changes that could be causing the system to overheat.
7. Disable NVIDIA G SYNC and run a stress test using SupportAssist.
8. Navigate to the Thermal Controls in the Alienware Command Center, which is found under the Fusion tab. There you can adjust the thermal control of system fans and change the status of active venting. A beautiful beast of a system

I wanted to give it as much time as possible before I wrote my review so I can really try to do it justice, and give this laptop a fair shot. This is coming from a gaming perspective, and also as a student who used it for basic homework, editing, streaming all of the above. Straight out of the box visually, and aesthetically.. it doesn’t get any better. Alienware has a reputation and I feel they lived up to it. Presentation 10/10. It’s a beautiful, thin, sleek looking laptop. It is pretty heavy to be honest, but it has 4 fans and does a pretty good job regulating heat so by all means, if it needed to be a little heavier to achieve this.. I personally wasn’t bothered by it and I currently haven’t traveled with it yet. So, something to be aware of. Setup process pretty typical of your new Windows laptops, but with the exception and I honestly wasn’t expecting the Windows Hello feature. To log into the laptop all you need is your face-I’ve had it with other products in the past but the fact AW included it with this laptop? Great choice. Startup is literally the fastest I think I’ve ever experienced. Literally less than 20 seconds from the time you hit the power button, the AW logo shows up, keyboard does a light show, to the time the camera recognizes your face and your signed in. I personally have never experienced this so quickly and I love that for them. AW gives you a lot of customization options to make this laptop yours. Changing different rows of the keyboard, Alienware logo on the back, it’s yours and they allow you to customize via the command center. You cannot upgrade the RAM though, surprisingly. Once you get to the gaming with this laptop it’s what you’d expect and more. Beautiful graphics, even when increasing quality yes, the unit got louder but it wasn’t annoying even on highest settings. It stays relatively cool and goes a good job at regulating the temp- once again that’s why I don’t mind it being on the heavier side personally. The battery life is decent, but I mean with the graphics and features it’s not surprising you get maybe 2 hours unplugged or continued use. Keep it plugged in. (The power cord light is extremely bright FYI) Using it as a student and for basic streaming etc- it’s as you’d expect. There’s not really a need to switch to another laptop/desktop for these purposes which I can appreciate. It really is a beautiful, beast of a laptop why would you want or need to? My major complaint is it has less ports than I’d really like. For someone who personally hates cords and who has an Alienware wireless gaming headset, and mouse only having one USB A port? Soul crushing. At least ONE more would have been perfect. Not enough for me to take a star despite that being a big downside for me, there are ways around it and I’ll just have to adjust. Overall I do not think you’d regret your purchase of this laptop. Alienware really did well with their thinnest to date. Try it out.

RETURN PROCESS IS WORST
