Good
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It does what it’s supposed to. Make sure your phone is close to the device. I returned it because my Apple Watch did the exact same thing. If it wasn't for that, I would have kept it.

Good for ONLY basic info/ somewhat misleading
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this as a tool to help monitor my grandmother’s heart because she has had issues over the past couple of years and not to mention her 3 brothers and my grandmothers father all had Congestive Heart Failure and 2 out of the 3 brothers died from CHF. My grandmother has a very significant arrhythmia that you can actual identify when listening with a stethoscope however it did not register when I used this device. That was what first threw me off. So I tested it on myself, friends, family etc and it was correct about 80% of the time. It just so happened my grandmother had to go in to the hospital for another issue but she was hooked up to a “6 lead” EKG 100% of the time, in addition to a blood pressure cuff that was always attached and periodically took measurements and the finger sensor to check her blood oxygen saturation levels. (All of these wires hook in to a monitor that records all the different values and an alarm will go off if your levels go outside of the set ranges)— so when I went to see her I brought the small Kardia device with me and I took 6 different readings. All panned out every 10 minutes and I got a printout from the monitoring device every time I used the Kardia and for the most part, it was accurate HOWEVER it did not pick up on the fact that she has “chronic congestive heart failure with preserved ejection fraction” aka “diastolic heart failure.” In order to diagnose that you need either a 6 or 12 lead EKG. What was even more offputting is that it never once picked up here very obvious arrhythmia that she’s had since her 20’s. This device is a 1 lead EKG. It’s picking up the basic electrical current that flows through your body. This device also only programmed to pick up on 6 different heart issues. There are WAY MORE than 6 abnormalities that the heart can exhibit signs of via an EKG. For the most part a 6 lead is truly what you need. That pick up on peripheral electrical signals that run through the body. A 12 lead is the REAL DEAL but most of the time, not truly needed. As we grow older, yes of course a 12 lead helps pick up everything including the electrical current that runs through our extremities. Lastly, and the final straw that convinced me to return it is that they avidly market the product as “FDA-cleared” (which doesn’t even come close to being “FDA-approved”) and even though they market as being “cleared” there is no evidence on their website regarding clinical trials and testing and results and comparisons. At least not that I could find, and if there are testing results on their site that I happened to missed, I still would have returned it. They also have no indication on whether or not they are seeking FDA approval. To me, that says “we will continue to say we are FDA “cleared” because most people don’t know what the difference between cleared and approved and let’s continue to sell a device that’s fancy but not entirely accurate. Being FDA cleared just means that the FDA has recognized the device as being very similar to a predicate already being marketed and sold on the market and that the device is not harmful in any way. AKA-the FDA has verified (through an independent lab group btw, not their own government labs) that the product won’t kill you and that it’s relatively similar to another product on the market. That’s it. I am a big believer in math and science and when it comes to medicine I want to see facts, results, lab tests, clinical trials, etc etc. I won’t touch this product or any of their others with a 10 foot pole until I either see “FDA approved” or some scientific clinical information showing the efficacy of the product.

Posted .Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the Kardia EKG monitor. We're sorry to hear that the device did not meet your expectations, especially when it came to monitoring your grandmother's condition.
You make a valid point about the limitations of a 1-lead EKG monitor, and we understand that it may not be suitable for everyone. The device is designed to detect certain heart conditions, but it may not be able to detect all abnormalities. We appreciate your feedback on the importance of using a 6-lead or 12-lead EKG for a more comprehensive assessment of heart health.
Regarding FDA clearance, we want to clarify that the FDA clearance process is a rigorous one that involves testing and evaluation of the device's safety and effectiveness. While it may not be the same as FDA approval, it is still an important step in ensuring that the device is safe and effective for use. We do provide information on our website regarding the clinical studies and trials that have been conducted on the Kardia EKG monitor, and we are always striving to improve the device's accuracy and efficacy.
We're sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the device and that you had trouble returning it. We hope that you were able to find a suitable alternative for monitoring your grandmother's condition. Thank you again for sharing your feedback.
