I recieved my order June 20th. I always charge my wireless devices before I use them and/or as I set them up. I took the speaker out of the box, plugged it in and I did not notice any indicator showing that it was charging. I downloaded the app for it and read the set up instructions. Altec Lansing has a warm up program that you can run to work your speaker so that it will have the optimum sound after about eight hours. Seems cool so I began the warm-up routine because I didn't plan on using the speaker that day. During setup, I never did see any light to indicate the speaker was charging. The unit shut off within the first three hours of warm up even though it was plugged in. I could not turn it back on, so I called customer support which is available 24/7. Customer support had me test the AC adapter with my multimeter and we determined 2vdc for a 18vdc adapter output was bad. I went ahead and sent the AC adapter to the manufacturer for replacement. They supplied me with a prepaid FedEx ticket, that was June 21st. It is now July 2nd and I just got off the phone with their support department who told me my replacement ac adapter will take 10 to 14 business days to get to me. My problem with this is that I am unable to test my speaker to see if it works properly, because it failed on me after 3 hours of warm up and I dont have the power cable replacement. For the most part I am a pretty patient person I just didn't expect the replacement part to take more than 2 weeks to get back to me. Had Altec Lansing been up front about how long it would have taken I would have just exchanged the speaker for another one of the same while it was available and on sale. I have not purchased the extended warranty plan on it through Best Buy yet because it failed right out of the box. I cannot return the speaker to Best Buy because Altec Lansing now has my AC adapter and so the unit is not a whole unit for me to return. I am trying to do the right thing by Altec Lansing and work with them to make it right but this just isn't working out for me. Hopefully I get my replacement AC adapter before my return policy expires so that I can test the speaker out proper in the event that it is a lemon then I could just exchange it. I will edit my review after I receive my replacement cord as I want to give Altec Lansing a fair review. I know not everything works out the way people expect all the time and that is fine, but right now I have a $250 paperweight sitting in a corner. In the meantime, because I needed a bluetooth capable stereo for 4th of July... I purchased a Sharp micro stereo system model #CD-BH20BR. It might not be portable and battery powered but at least it worked right out of the box.

full charge only lasted 5 hours at max volume.. took almost 3 hours to recharge. Not very loud for the size of the speaker, but sound quality is good. Not worth the price.

I got this for $99 and still returned it. It is big and heavy, which I thought was going to be wonderful for the bass.. but nope.. It barely has bass with no extra bass feature.. I tried apps to increase the bass but no luck. It does, however have nice clean highs. But, for the size and weight, its not worth it. I had already purchased an Anker Soundcore Select Pro from Walmart for $50 regular $100 and the bass on that kicks this XL's butt !! The soundcore has rich deep bass which this is sorely lacking!

This speaker is NOT for you if you’re looking for good bass. The sound is great, very powerful tweeters but the bass is not noticeable at all even with the volume up half way or even 3/4 of the way up. For anyone that listens to heavy bass, the metal mesh on the back side of the speaker is actually in the way of the woofer. When you turn the volume all the way up, the shooter will touch/rattle the mesh causing an ANNOYING rattling sound

Great speaker for every place. Beach or anywhere you want
