it worked inspite of us pushing the wrong buttons

although the instructions were /are a bit difficult; the unit decided to work inspite of the wrong buttons we were punching. all of a sudden it decided to auto search and find the channels and that was very smooth going. we are still trying to figure out what buttonss to push to delete saved shows, or rename them or even to navigate the various places to find thing's. we are old and disabled and find it a bit difficult. but i hope we will be able to figure it out. perhaps if your instructions were written for a third grader we could find it easier to navigate.

    Disappointing Digital Video Recorder

This item has been very disappointing. The main problem I have with it is the audio. It does not record the sound as given because it has options which may or may not be picked up. The device also locks up unexpectedly. It has to be unplugged to get it to reboot as a meas of recovery. It also record the SAP narration intended for blind people. That would be fine but I have not been able to find a way to turn it off. I don;t need someone describing all the movements that are taking place place on the screen. The only thing good was the price but the price is not good when the device does not work. I have already returned the unit once and exchanged it for another one with pretty much the same problems. There is no way to demonstrate the problems to the people at the Best Buy store because they claim they do not have an antenna. When I offer to bring in an antenna, they still do not want it. This goes against what the on-line chat person had to say. They need to get their stories straight. The digital recorder function is very important to me. It is a shame I must play it back on my computer instead of being able to play back on the television. It stinks! and I wish I could get some technical support from the store or manufacturer,

the converter box works just right and is easy to use, easy to scan. the recorder is a little clunky. setting it is like the way you used to have to set the old vcr's to record. I am still happy because I have the ability to record over the air programming, but I wish it were a tad easier.

This si advertised as a "dual receiver" digital TV converter box and DVR... that is a bold-faced LIE! I have had this unit for several months now, and wish I had returned it at the first sign of trouble. It claims that you can watch one channel while recording an other, which is not true. Unless you use the antenna signal pass-through to your compatible television, you cannot watch one thing and record another, be3cause this unit only has a single digital tuner, not a dual tuner as advertised. In addition to this shortcoming, the unit has proved to be very glitchy, frequently freezing and resetting. It often loses my favorite TV channel presets. The user interface is hardly intuitive, like the designers chose to assign functions to different buttons on the remote completely at random. I didn't expect a lot for the money, but I at least expected a product that would work as advertised, and I didn't even get that much!

We have a 70" tv without a tuner so we bought this to bring in channels from an antenna. Works great, no issues with scanning for channels. The only negative is that the recording feature is somewhat 'klunky' to use. I have a 32gb flash drive plugged in for recording shows that I formatted to xfat before inserting. I can't schedule a recording more than a day in advance unless there's a setting I can't find. Fast forwarding/Rewinding is difficult to use once the show is recorded, but the recording does look good. Overall, we like it.

Digital tuner on my TV was giving problems. I use a antenna to pick up local channels no cable. This little box was easy to set up and with HDMI cable shows HD broadcasts.

Freezes up frequently. Has to reboot itself at least twice a week. Hard to enter programs to record. Must leave TV on to record. Instructions for watching while recording are not available. But still a good product.

Basic Set-Up and easy to Program. 2 Negative things about this Converter Box is: 1- The Time keeps changing back to Military Time. 2- The moving of the voice to the lips of the person speaking doesn't fully match, but that's what you get with Analog HookUps.

The Aluratek Digital TV Converter Box was a great deal. The fact that it came with a remote was the reason I bought it. It is very easy to use and I would definitely recommend it to others. In fact, I intend to buy my Mom a converter box as well

A nice "over the airwaves" Digital converter box, even has a DVR built in using a USB drive or stick of your choice-works perfectly especially if you get a good (Flat Digital Antenna) and aim it properly!

For anyone wishing to cut the cable tv cord this is an excellent buy. It is inexpensive and when combined with a portable usb drive which can be bought on sale relatively cheaply it serves as a usable alternative to cable tv DVR boxes. A person can view the programming for each station each day and if desired set it to record a program. I have several similar boxes and the only draw back to them are the remotes which aren't as responsive as they could be but with cable tv bills being so high, it is something I can live with.

This Digital Converter Box has been a life saver! It's an interface between an antenna and a TV. I don't have Cable TV and my TV is not equipped to connect a coaxial cable to it--so I can't connect an antenna directly to the TV. Now, after connecting the Converter to my TV through an HDMI, I am able to connect an antenna to the Converter, receive an analog signal (since the Box converts the signal from digital to analog), and program and watch all my local channels within the antenna broadcasting range.

Needed an easy device to watch local channels on my projector/receiver combo. Used the flat antenna and everything works well after setup. No issues adding to my harmony remote either. The factory remote is fine but don't need it with a universal.

The converter setup was straightforward and easy and it worked. I would have preferred to find one without the video recorder, hence less expensive, but I did not have time to drive around to find one. Have not tried to use the recorder capability.

Setup was pretty easy. I could get acceptable quality from HDMI. I attached 1 TB external hard drive and was able to record about 20 hours of different programs. Less than 3 weeks after the purchase and less than a week before I could return it, USB port stopped working. The message keeps saying no external drive found. No matter how many times I tried to restart, or use other flash drives. Looks like USB port is out. What a waste of time and money. Bestbuy should take this item off the shelf. I would not recommend this product to a friend, unless I want to lose a friend.

    Aluratek TV recorder

This unit works very well otherwise. It converts and uses an obsolete format originally from Sony which is very inefficient and doesn't record for very long on a 32gb stick which is the largest size supported. I use it to record TV shows to watch over the weekend so I don't miss them. The reason they claimed won't work on cable is that internal software doesn't detect if channel is scrambled. It doesn't skip over them so fills channel log up with them until full so can't access the unscrambled ones that are usually located in the upper numbers where cable companies put them. Problem proably could be fixed with a software update. My antenna is not strong enough for it to pick up all the channels my TV does though. It does get the three major ones that I normally watch so I am happy about that. I would buy another one to get another show or two but it seems no longer available.
