I am using this digital converter for an old TV in a work shop but would be just fine for anywhere that cable is irrelevant. Easy to set up and with a reasonable antenna brings in clear signal and is completely satisfactory and worth the money. Have not yet used the video recorder but suspect it will perform as expected.

Lasted 2 months. Do not buy. If you have to, get extended warranty as it will fail. BestBuy gets a demerit for poor customer service. As I sat with Geeksquad to get a replacement I was told I can walk to the back and pick up one for trade. I said can't you call someone to bring one up from the back? I guess I expected too much as the associates with their hands in pockets, who are paid mind you and don't seem to be too busy, but I'm expected to go find the replacement? Do not buy. Do not recommend.

Had an AV emergency at a major sports venue...we needed to pull off-air signals to direct into the big screens. On a hunch, I went to the Best Buy site and they had TWO in stock, in the middle of NOWHERE Michigan. Thank you Best Buy, you saved the show! Excellent service at the time of sale btw....the associate didn't know what I was talking about...we went to the website, he hit a button and the tag on the shelf flashed. Well done!

+ Receives over the air channels decently and enables me to play them on analog tv + lots of setting options + able to set things up to record - only in military time (could not figure out how to change) - programming is cumbersome

Actually my review is not of the product itself but the customer service i got at best buy. I had bought the product some time ago and bought a 4 year service warranty with it. It actually didn't last but a few months I couldnot find my receipt. No problem. They looked it up by my phone#. Did not have one in stock, but had one sent to my house by the next day. I was really impressed to say the least. Kudos to best buy.

Seems to work fairly well so far, although I have yet to try/figure out the recording options as they are a little more complicated then I would have thought

Decided to cut the cord and switch to streaming with an antenna for live tv. I didn't realize that my smart tv didn't have a coaxial port on it so I had to buy a receiver for the antenna to work. I was extremely impressed with this one. It basically worked just like a normal cable box. I loved it. However, I had to return it because where I live, I could hardly pick up any channels at all with the antenna. If I didn't live in such a rural area, I would definitely get this.

Easy to use. Not very expensive. The installation is very easy. Has good features.

Gets the job done for a fair price. You'll need to buy an antenna if you dont already have one.

Had this item for about a year. Worked great initially, picked up most channels in my area and picture was clear. However this weekend it refused to turn on. After reading other reviews, seems to be a common problem with this product. For $50 I'd expect more.

Save us lots of money around upgrading media room to accommodate antenna.

This product is great but you didn’t have it in stock aluratek digital tv converter however we had the best salesman there in the Boise store Noah mallindine, he ordered and took payment for the part it means a lot to older people who are not computer savvy. Made our visit to your store non stressful and he knew what he was talking about

Died after a year. For a $50 converter box, I’d expect it to last longer. Non-responsive, won’t even turn on.

Interface a little clunky but works. Records well but you need to check and double check it's set for the correct time zone and record times.

Just what I needed to get away from high cost cable able to record free tv antenna programs for viewing at a later time.

The original Insignia converter I purchased when converter boxes became a requirement for over the air lasted for about 12 years. I have purchased two of these in the last 3 or 4 years. If there were a better alternative I would try it - because I bought a third by a different brand in-between those two Aluratek that was even worse. The Aluratek has put stations in places they don't belong (stations with numbers like 3.2 - 3.12 in between stations 7.2 and 7.3 - online guides don't even show me as having any stations on 3), drops out, and turns itself off. Off. Off as in requires cold boot off. The remote also needs to be left upside down, because the design causes the batteries to slide out of alignment if stored right side up. I don't know how many batteries I replaced before I realized that opening the case, and pushing the batteries back into the inside would generally solve it (sometimes they need to be removed and put back in.) The Users Guide no longer has instructions on how to remove channels you have no interest in from the rotation (HSN and it's siblings hold no appeal) and no longer show up as an option on the screen that used to give access to that function. I actually had to return one (so I guess that makes three of these I've had) because it unaligned the image (like scrolling on tube tvs) while I was trying to get out of the submenu - and there was no way to make the cursor/arrow move when you had the image scrolling every 2 seconds. It's like the manufacturer of this adaptive device wants to force you to buy a new tv.

Needed this for one of my TV's works great and easy set-up.

Good for recording program you don't want to miss. Picture isn't the finest but good enough. Great value for the money.
