Customers are saying

Customers appreciate the value, cleaning performance, quiet operation, and ease of use of this 3.4 Cu. Ft. 8-Cycle Top-Loading Washer. Many also highlight its capacity and size as positive aspects. However, some users find the lid lock inconvenient, and a few have noted concerns about the agitation and balance during the spin cycle. Overall, the positive feedback significantly outweighs the negative.

I've owned this washer less than 3 weeks. The washer will no longer run. It has a lock feature on the lid that locks laundry in while running. It has locked a load of laundry in the washer. I called the number for warranty service. They tried to give me the run around. Then we schedule an appointment between 1 and 5 the following day. I called at 2:30 for a status update. They claim to have called me at 1 to cancel. I received no such call. I bought this washer because it had the best customer reviews in my price range. I hope no one else makes that mistake!

Only thing positive I have to say is.....My wife said it was delivered on time. I came home from work and went to move washer into position. And it sloshed around full of water. Wife didn't see them unbox it, just took it off truck and dolly'd to the basement. Set up hoses, drain hose and plugged it in. Tossed in a small load and the water trickles out like a spastic waterfall....TAKES FOREVER TO FILL. Eventually fills and starts to agitate...sounded and felt like it was barely agitating. Finally I let it do its thing and hit the spin/drain cycle. Drained decently for a tiny diameter hose. Drum stops...pump stops...water stops...Pop the lid to take out the clothes and the drum is empty but STILL has water in machine sloshing around. Not happy with this machine from the get go, and it is only been in my house 10 hours and 1 load of laundry completed.

    Look Away

Purchased my washer about a month ago. When I first tried to use the unit, the water level would not raise and would continue to drain. Contacted Geek Squad the same day and they assured me they would contact and arrange for a straight replacement the next day. Time goes by and I contact Geek Squad and since 15 days have passed by they could no longer send out a replacement and arranged for a service tech to come out and take a look at the unit. Seven days later the tech contacts me on the day of the appointment and states that since unit is still under the Amana manufactures warranty that a different service tech would need to be contacted. Another 7 days later The service tech arrives and find the unit non-functional and will need to arrange for a second evaluation. I then contact Geek Squad and they are very apologetic and arrange for a replacement to be sent out the next day! At this point there is nothing to fret about and I am happy Best buy customer. The day of the replacement arrives! They replace the unit with a brand new Amana Washer! I turn the unit on and this unit fill with water to the point that it over flows! Seven days later a second tech is sent out and states that the flow valve is not shutting off and will need to be replaced. Now I am over a month out with a brand new washer that doesn't even work and I am still waiting for the repairmen to arrive with the necessary parts. Avoid this unit.

    DON'T BUY THIS!!

I seriously don't get all of the 5 stars on this one. I'm thinking Whirlpool hired 400 people to write this or the CEO had insomnia and sat up all night. First washer we got, warm water did not work the very first day, then 1 week later it stopped working altogether. Then it started working again, but still no warm water. There's cold and there's hot, both trickle so slow I think I could p and fill it up faster. Had BB bring us a new one, guys hooked it up, warm water took off like a champ. Brought out load of clothes and guess what? NO WARM WATER! Now this one went in a little faster, but not like it does on warm setting. ALSO, don't bother using a downey ball for fabric softener, you will pull out a downey ball STILL full of softener every time...which tells me how great this thing must agitate considering it wont even empty the ball. Long story long, this thing is a pile. Spend the extra $100 or so and upgrade. Plan on returning this one again and upgrading.

do not like this machine at all

worst machine i have ever had. Can not add softener because its too hard to figure out when rinse cycle is. seems like it takes forever to wash one load of close. i take the time to load clothes properly but every time I go out thinking the load is done the washer has stopped and i had to redistribute the clothes. I do not like the lid lock, I do not like the amount of time it takes to wash one load of clothes & when you do a load of towels, no matter how many, you have to reposition & restart the washer several times. took over two hours to do one load!!!!!!!!!! hate it, wish i would have spent more money for a better washer. i bought this machine because of the price & other reviews. if i can keep just one person from wasting their money with my review then i will not feel as bad about my horrible purchase & waste of my money

    Performnace is very poor.

I bought this model recently and is a simple one without many bells and whistles and was similar to the one we had for many years (Speed Queen). In the first wash, in the large load, the drum started hitting the side few times. In the second wash in medium load, it did not spin the clothes properly and they were still wet. In addition, there was a puddle of water in the drum. In another wash, after pausing the wash, I had to scrub few items to remove the deep stain. In another 2-3 mins of pausing the machine, while the lid was still open, the machine emptied all the water along with the detergent. I was completely disappointed and so returned the unit. After all these things, I don't want to suffer with this unit for another few years (of its life time) . The drum is very loose and I am not sure why did they design like this.

    Broken in 3 months

I purchased this washer three months (January 2013) ago and now it's broken. I contacted Whirlpool and they provided terrible customer service. They set up an appointment to come out and didn't call or show. The next soonest they can come out is in two weeks during a four hour window M-F between 8-5. You pay for what you get and you will be paying for a headache. A headache trying to get it repaired, having to go the Laundromat while it's broken, and missing work to meet their four hour window.

Worst washing machine I've ever used

I've lived at multiple different apartment buildings using many different washing machines and I've never experienced one as bad as this one. It tears up my clothes. I have had multiple rips in my clothes and had them stuck in the agitator. I have to wash all of my clothes on the delicate cycle, because I know they will be ripped for sure on the regular cycle. The downside is, they are usually still dirty after the delicate cycle. It also somehow manages to fade my clothes. If I have a shirt with 2 colors on it, the darker color always fades onto the lighter color every time. Don't buy this is you have striped shirts! I have to do separate loads with each color. I don't even wash the purples with the blues anymore, yes that BAD. Also, my clothes are so wrinkled when I take them out, some of them are almost unwearable. I had to buy a steamer to even attempt to wear any of the clothes after washing them. Definitely worth spending more money for better quality next time.
