No frills, down and dirty dryer that seems to work well. Only complaint is no light inside. You would think that would be pretty standard stuff these days.

I got this for my 89 year old mom and so far it works great. Her only complaint is that there is no light inside the drum when you open the door. Being an electrical design engineer, I have to say I was really disappointed that such an inexpensive option was left out of the product design. What did they save? A dollar? Fire whoever made that decision. It doesn't tell you there's no light in the product specification. We contemplated returning it if it weren't so difficult to move. They probably would have charged us. Please take this back to the product team. This was a stupid thing to omit. And make sure to make it clear that there's no drum light in the specification. Be up front and honest. Yeah I'm a little upset. This was for my elderly mom.

RUN! don't walk away from purchasing this dryer model! We recently bought this model based on the 4+ star reviews and A+ ratings in "10 Best" Lists for 2021. What a mistake! Unfortunately, due to the raging pandemic, we were unable to visit the store to see the item in person before taking delivery but boy, this dryer was a complete disappointment. This purchasing experience not unlike ordering those Sea Monkeys from a magazine ad, expecting to get adorable, soggy, miniature primates when, what you get in the mail, for your hard earned paper route money, are just desiccated brine shrimp. This Amana dryer is the Desiccated Brine Shrimp of Major Household Appliances. The Company must have a team (no, they probably are too cheap to have more than just one engineer) in a lab somewhere calculating, on the sub-atomic scale, the absolute thinnest possible gauge of steel sheet metal to use in dryer construction without the final product completely collapsing in on itself. Claes Oldenburg uses stiffer material. Granted it's a "value" product but, honestly the fit & finish and quality is embarrassing, especially considering that one of its major selling points is that it's "MADE IN AMERICA" which they proudly tout with a red, white and blue sticker proudly displayed on the front of the unit. No wonder the country is going down the dirty laundry chute. For instance, most dryer doors are ambidextrous and can be mounted to swing either from the left or right. This leaves the mounting holes exposed on the open side and, in most cases, those cavities are covered with small plastic inserts. Amana, no doubt in an effort to drive production costs further into the basement, uses white vinyl tape. And in the unit we received. even that was applied haphazardly! So, unless you're buying this for a family member you're trying to get even with, or a rent-controlled tenant that you're encouraging to move out so you can raise the rent their unit, keep looking.

Let me count the ways we've bandaged this godforsaken dryer over the years. Granted, it's 'survived", but almost despite itself. 2 belt changes, several squeaky rollers replaced, the front fell off and the barrel rolled out, it constantly eats strings and grinds to a halt, and finally...It threatened bodily harm with an outpouring of smoke, which prompted me unceremoniously kicking it out the door. And I'll be danged...It is STILL running. Is it a great dryer? Absolutely not. Will it dry your clothes? Maybe if you're handy. We had it for probably 6-7 years and spent 4 of those speaking politely, begging, fixing. Maybe you'll be luckier than I have been. Good riddance.

It makes our cloths STIFF & SCRATCHY! Using this for 6 months +/-. Purchased at local hardware,

your people left a dryer in the carton with out unpacking it. Would not install the item or remove the old one. I was sold items I did not need. Was not a good experience for me.

This dryer works good; however, it is not insulated, so the unit gets very hot and produces enough for your house. I would not recommend for anyone with children (they would get burned touching it), nor anyone trying to keep your space cool. Garage use only.
