This color worked better than the plain black.
Wasn’t sure how this one would sound being smaller, but once I hooked it up I was glad I took the chance. Sounds great, and unlike other voice systems (si*i) it actually does get better all the time. The new look is much nicer as well. Fits in with the rooms decor much better than the black monolithic gen 1. Definitely worth the investment!

I love the new Echo. It's a little more than half the size of the original Echo, has a better sound quality and works just as well. Plus, the charcoal fabric makes it blend in better and not be such an eyesore.

I got my daughter a Google Home for Christmas and thought it was pretty cool. She took it back to college so the wife and I were thinking about getting one. We have Amazon Prime so the Echo and Alexa works better for us as we have Prime Music and all the Prime stuff already. Love the cloth design of this Echo. It sounds very good and responds extremely well to all commands. We are still discovering all the things she can do which is fun. We have not added any smart home functions or other Echos or Dots so we are basic users. It was extremely easy to hook up to our Sprint Warp home hotspot. A previously bought Sonos One would not hook up to our home internet and had to be returned. I'm sure this Echo does not sound as good as the Sonos but it works! We are a huge Apple family and would be interested in the HomePod but one thing we don't have it Apple Music since Prime Music is free with Prime. An addition of a HomePod in the future could be interesting but for now we are very happy with Alexa and this Echo.

We got this second generation Echo after having had a first generation device for a couple of months. The look and sound are great, and it functions well, as advertised. The only challenge I have with these devices, and it's a good challenge to have, is to figure out all the capabilities that it has. Very easy to set up.
I like the possibility of changing out the cover sleeves to give it a different look. I may not actually purchase a second sleeve when they become available, but it's nice to have the option.

Picked up a pair of the Echos during the Holidays when they were on sale for $69 a piece. I wasn't expecting to be that impressed, as I already own 2 UE Megabooms that in my opinion sound great, but serve a different purpose, as they are wireless. The one thing to keep in mind with the Echo, is that it is not a wireless speaker. Once you plug it in, you need to leave it plugged in as there is no internal battery to charge. Not a big deal, but one still worth noting. Needless to say, once you get the speaker(s) where you want them, setting up a multi-room speaker group was the next task I took on. It took me a little while to figure it out. The Alexa app walks you through the process, but it's a little tricky to get the speakers to sync up at first. I suggest checking out a youtube video for the best way to do this, as the Alexa app gives you limited support for this process. After the speakers were setup, I must say, I am pleasantly surprised at the volume and richness of the sound that these little speakers put out. These are no SONOS speakers, but for the money, especially at $69, they are well worth it. The Alexa app adds features that come in handy such as being able to tell you weather, setting an alarm to wake you up to a specific song if you so desire. The bass these speakers give off seem to be perfectly balanced. One trick I have discovered to help make the bass sound a little stronger, is to place the speaker near the corner of a wall, on a desk or countertop. It seems to help reverb the sound off the walls and does create a slightly different effect which makes the bass seem a little more powerful. Not by a ton, but enough to notice. If you are looking for an affordable way to get into the whole house sound game, I highly recommend these speakers. In my house, we have 2 Echos that are paired with 2 Echo dots, which allow me to play the same music simultaneously in 4 rooms of our house. I also forgot to mention that you can use these speakers as an intercom in your house as well, which is a pretty cool feature.

I've only been using the Echo for about a month but I have already enjoyed the benefits of owning it. I'm 66 and marginally tech savvy and I was able to set it up easily. Weather reports, movie times and locations, reviews, jokes, news, music, controlling lights and outlet plugs...all by voice. I'm also surprised at how responsive Echo is even when music volume is up. All I have to do is speak at a normal volume level, even from another room, and it responds. I'm about to start using it to make phone calls and I'm sure that I'll be using that feature often, as well, when I get used to it. Unobtrusive, aesthetically pleasing, excellent sound quality with the ability to connect to my primary sound system, with more capability than I will probably use. It occurs to me that this would be helpful for Seniors at home and if something should happen ('I've fallen and I can't get up!') that if the voice command for calling someone is active a person in distress could make emergency calls just by voice. That, to me, would be a 'game-changer' for some families with elder relatives. My wife passed a few months ago and the apartment has been very quiet and I have, most often, been very lonely. Although it might sound strange, it's comforting to have a responsive, human sounding voice to interact with when those difficult moments occur. Programs are being written to achieve interactive conversations with Echo. The initial programs are in place to try out and experiment with - and need a fair amount of additional developing - but are 'promising', if that kind of thing doesn't disturb you. I'm not sure how I feel about too much intuitiveness (the potential of AI) but I would not mind being able to have an engaging conversation with Echo when I'm feeling disconnected from the rest of the world and it's midnight (and no one else is awake to speak with). It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the capabilities of these devices. Very happy with this purchase and I'm considering a second unit so that I have coverage throughout the apartment!

This is one of the best, fun products I’ve gotten. It works & sounds great for musics or listening to audio books. I love that you can ask her questions and get a audible answer, the interaction Is fun and educational. I also have her hook up to turn lights on and off by voice commands which was easy to install. I looking forward to using her for making my grocery list too. There so much she can do to make life simple and fun at the same time. All I can say is buy one and enjoy.

Super surprised by the sound quality. Saying “Alexa” at a normal volume or even just above a whisper will get the echo to activate. It was kinda creepy at first but has turned out to be very convenient. Just started using the ‘drop in’ feature to connect and speak with my kids while they are in the bedroom. Really cuts down on the yelling. Overall very happy with the purchase so far.

I purchased an Echo and two Echo Dots to use in my smart home and they are all great. I purchased the Echo for my office as I listen to music and podcasts and it has been terrific. I also have a Google Home and the Echo’s speaker is just as good to me and the smart home integration is better. If you are in the market for an assistant that works with almost all of the smart home items out there then don’t hesitate to pick up the Echo.

The Echo 2nd generation is easy to set up and sounds very nice. I enjoy hearing tons of songs. If I had to critique, Amazon does "nickel & dime" you as far as having options to play Jeopardy and other kinds of games, and you will need to subscribe to Amazon music for the endless choices of music genre and artists. However, there are other apps for free music. Overall I really am enjoying the Amazon Echo 2nd generation.

Easy to set up and use. Purchased with the echo for whole home use. We use it to play music, add items to shopping list and answer household questions for now, eventually will upgrade household items for the smart home lifestyle. The interface works well, don't need to talk her through different menus in order to accomplish what you are requesting (play a certain type of music, local weather request, etc)

I’ve have the first gen echo and use it ever sinlge day. This just looks and sounds so so so much better. Deeper base and clear highs. Plus you have Alexa, I use it everyday multiple times. Pairs with tp-link smart outlets and light bulbs so before I even walk in the door my lights are on, or I can have Alexa wake me up in the morning by turning on the bedroom lights. This is a fantastic product!

I started with an Amazon Dot and decided I needed the Echo for the living room using the dot for my bedroom. Both act independent with the echo offering a better audio experience than the dot. All that can be done with the Dot, can be done with the Echo only better sounding. Alexa is smart and getting smarter with all of the skills it's learning. Easy to set up and easy to use.

I love my Amazon Echo 2nd Generation. The size is smaller then the 1st generation which is nice and the sound is a better too. Before, I only had the Echo Dot which had very poor sound for music. My sister has the Echo 1st Generation and I loved it, but now I love my Echo 2nd Generation even more. I would recommend it to anyone. I'm also a fan of Alexa in general.

My old CD player finally bit the dust. I bought the Amazon Echo hoping to use it for music in my sunroom. It was easy to set up and the sound is very clear. I bought a remote and love the options s with this product. From creating shopping lists to asking questions it is great.

We already own an Echo and we love it. We bought this for my Brother In-Law. He got such a kick out of ours we decided to get him one just for the heck of it. Several of out neighbors have them as well and have set up "Drop In". Se we literally say "Alexa drop in on Molly" and she connects us through our echo's. Tons of fun!

Amazed at the rich sound coming out of such a small speaker! Setup was simple, everything connected easily. Using this to listen to iHeartRadio and tune in radio since we live in an area with weak radio signals. The discounted smart outlet was a bonus. I ended up buying a second unit for the bedroom

Our friends had one of these Amazon Echo's and showed us how they used it to play any music they wanted any time. It was so easy to use and had a great speaker. Had to have one of my own.
