The echo is a great start to building a smart home.

Have always wants to get one of these. We love it.

The actual Echo works very well but the “skills” for it to do things are horrible. I thought it would be awesome to tell Alexa to start my Jeep but the UConnect skill is awful. So are most of the other skills.

I think I got this free with the purchase of something else, used it for a couple days, didn't see any real value, its on a shelf somewhere. Maybe if I had a lot more enabled devices.

I like the echo products. I removed a star from this as the microphone does not seem to pick up as well as the Dot or spot's that I also own. Recommend also getting a smart switch for some fun easy home automation.

It works as advertised, but don't expect to be blown away. If you're ready to spend lots of $$ on compatible additions, you can set up some nice tasks. But overall the technology is not quite there yet.

I bought multiple devices for around the house. They are fun and the new intercom feature is great. However, when playing music the devices regularly disconnect from the internet and stop playing. Gets really annoying.

The downside of the Amazon Echo is that Echo can't answer when stores open and close. You have to be careful to not order from Amazon using the Echo.

Bought for my daughter as a gift. She is Amazon Prime, hence, the Echo. Compared to my Homepod. Set-up not as easy, sound not as good, but it is more fun because Alexa is better than Siri. (For now)

I mean it’s cool for my nieces and nephews to ask funny questions, but I don’t like how it will go off on it’s own or disconnects all the time , I reset it a lot or just unplugged it.

When working it sounds great. Maybe operator error, but hard to sink, does not work just like Bluetooth.. Conflicts with Alexa speaker.

Sure, it’s fun to be able to order Alexa around, but do we really need these things? The speaker quality is not good if you are thinking of actually playing music from it directly.

Unit worked as advertised but sound is not for an audiophile. Still getting used to the commands as you have to be fairly specific. I’d lean to the Sonos speaker unit if I were to do it again.

My son gave it to me for Fathers Day. Loved his. I went to Best Buy for PC work and checked out other Echos and options. I took advantage of a gift, and upgraded to Sonos for small money.

Alexa seems confused and confirms to much. The phone call feature is awful. You have to download an app and then call through the app. Alexa doesn't call out

I have to install apps for it to do the things I want it to do. My phone can not handle all the apps. its fustrating to hear " I don"t know that. Likie what do you know?

THIS ITEM WAS GOOD, BUT THE ECHO PLUS IS SO MUCH BETTER AND IT LOOKS BETTER, SOUND QUALITY ARE ABOUT THE SAME, BUT NOT AS NICE AND NEAT AS THE PLUS. HOPE THIS HELPS.

The new Amazon Echo is smaller in height than the original but boasts the same 2" woofer with a slightly smaller tweeter. By slightly I mean by 2 millimeters. I have had the new one for a couple of hours now and from my observation the sound quality is much better. With the release of this newer version comes a few abilities that the original was lacking. For me the biggest improvement is the ability to stream music to all echo devices simultaneously. I have 1 original echo and 3 dots scattered throughout my house. And I can tell you that the sync in music between them is perfect. Even when you ask one a question it will quiet the music on that one echo while the rest play at regular volume. The other thing is now you can train the echo to know different people's voices in your household. Before my wife would have to switch to her amazon account to get her work traffic info. This is no longer the case. The last improvement is the ability to have 'routines'. You can setup a trigger command and have Alexa execute a series of different things. While great in theory this could really use improvement. Basic phrases like "Alexa, good night" or "Alexa, good morning" will trigger the desired actions. When I tried to create one that was "Alexa, Good Bye" she said she couldn't execute that. Which is a huge miss on Amazon's part. I would use that phrase to turn on/off specific lights in my house and change the thermostat. Instead I have to say "Alexa, I'm heading out". While not a big difference in verbiage but who really says that? I also found many of the custom phrases I wanted to make wouldn't work either. For a device that can understand human speech she couldn't execute the command "Alexa, I am leaving in five minutes". Which I wanted to use to tell me the traffic on my commute to work. Overall I like the device and it can only get better in time but I feel that some of the new features were rolled out before they did a lot of beta testing.

My Echo is not consistant in response. Some days it works and other days I need to reset. When it works, its great.

It was an impulse buy by my husband. It’s basically a black speaker wasting space on a shelf. I haven’t found anything but setting a timer useful.
