I purchased a 2nd generation echo in order to get the better sound, as it was supposed to have only to be disappointed. Honestly, I think the 1st generation (which I also have) sounds better. Also, with 7 microphones it's supposed to hear better than the 1st generation — which it doesn't — the 1st generation heard my voice 8 to 10 feet away usually without a problem. This second-generation has trouble hearing me even 2 feet away. Admittedly I have a softer voice, but I actually have to raise my voice for this one to hear me! Nonetheless, I'm keeping mine as I want to have two Echos, but it is still a disappointment. One other note — in my opinion it's probably the proximity between the speaker and the microphones that is causing the echo to have trouble hearing when e.g. music is playing, etc. although it still has a problem hearing without music playing at times. if you really want one and can't buy the 1st generation anymore, get it on sale!

I love this so much more then i thought i would. You can do so much with it and I ordered one for my daughter because she loved it too. Shes 9 and loves playing the games with it. I highly recommend this product, well worth the money.

My parents love it so much, they use it for everything, grocery lists, music, and educational questions they may get from their grandchildren..

First time buying a home hub and this works for what I need it for. I wanted the speakers to be louder but can’t complaint for all it does along with the speakers. I can use it as a Bluetooth speaker or use Alexa to play using my linked music services.

delivers on AI features including smart home control and interactive responses, but i often don't see the sound quality difference vs an echo dot, which is cheaper

Bought Mine About 2 Weeks Ago And Already Having Problems.Lagging And Volume Problems Are Just One Of Many. It Was Perfect For The First Week Then It Was Downhill From There.

I've purchased this devices and it's not where I thought it would be. Lower price point bunot great sound quality. Also, doesn't provide answers to a lot of my questions.

I hope all learn from my experience with Amazon. I purchased and registered a Gen 1 Echo October 2017. By Jan 1, 2019 (two months passed warranty) the unit would not power on. I contacted Amazon for help. Not only would Amazon not cover the replacement under warranty, but there is no repair program in place. Essentially the units are disposable once they stop working. If all Amazon Echo products are designed to fail just after warranty and there is no repair possible, there is a significant problem with Amazon's reputation for reliability and dedication to their customers. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. There are better options made by companies willing to stand by their products.

I’m an Apple snob admittedly. This is inferior. It won’t recognize any of my remotes. I’d Lille to throw it against the wall. I’ll wait until Apple comes out with theirs. Alexa is a moron compared to Siri

I prefer Google, over AmaZon , google hardware are more superior than amazon products.
