I bought this Amazon Echo as a secondary unit to the Amazon Echo Plus. Plus offers the hub needed to control lighting within home. This unit was purchased to augment use of Echo throughout house. Original one could hear me & reply, but from several rooms away, I needed to yell & I quickly tired of that! Now, it can respond from various parts of my home & have audio playback/music throughout.

I purchased this for my husband to play with, but my Mother has one in her room and being able to communicate between the 2 really helps since she is bed ridden.

The echo is a good looking nice speaker. Having Alexa included really adds the value. The entire family loves asking Alexa questions and playing trivia. The speaker is definitely better quality and louder than the Dot, both the Dot and the Echo has an aux input to attach to other speakers if you prefer, or like me, I have it connected to my outdoor speakers to take advantage of the Prime music!

When I first heard it at a Target store I was hooked. The Echo is amazing. Great sound. I love the ability to link with The Bible app and have Echo read my daily Bible plans or any chapter or verse. Also, since I have a Pandora subscription I can have Echo play anything on Pandora radio in addition to Amazon music. The Echo makes a great addition in the family room.

I purchased an Echo for my wife this past Christmas. She absolutely loves it! We are still learning about all it can do but so far have have not had any issues. Alexa gives us a wake-up call, functions as a timer, turns on lights (with the Amazon smart plug), plays music, and provides helpful information like the weather and high/low tides. Echo is a fun and helpful tool.

The Echo 2nd Generation has excellent sound and bass response. As a full time musician, I am very critical about the sound quality and this device surpasses my previous device (a Jambox which I loved). Voice commands are exceptional for playing music on a paid subscription site like Spotify. Easy to connect with by iPhone Bluetooth to play my music library. Alexa has many shortcomings and her typical response is “I can’t find that” as compared to Siri’s “Would you like me to look that up on the web?” I have seen improvements in Alexa as far as questions asked, but most are references to Wikipedia. Hence the 4 stars.

Looks food and sounds good. Easy to set up and start using and learning.

I don't know much about Google's smart speaker but this product is really good. The issues I have are its learning and search engine. It needs to expand its search engine to where if I ask a question it should be intuitive enough to find some answers. The I do not understand the question constantly means that its search engine is too limited. Since when I get on Google through my phone or computer it finds it right away. Besides that it has excellent sound quality. As a future note, allow these to be connected with each other.

The new generation with softer fabric covering fits home decor better and allows you to keep the echo in a central location with a bit more style. I prefer the old style volume control of turning the top instead of the current buttons. Sound quality seems as good as the prior generation. We coupled the echo with a couple of dots in our boys’ bedrooms for a cheap and easy intercom system

This is my second Amazon Echo because one is simply not enough! I moved my first generation Echo into the bathroom and this one is in the kitchen. Great sound and love the sandstone fabric (it's gray/white color but can also look a little taupe). My only suggestion for Amazon would be to have a white cord for Echos with this color fabric (mine came with a black cord).

The Alexa app is so much fun yet functional. This has stereo sound.
