I bought this to listen to music not to keep telling it to resume.

For whatever reason they are not compatible. I had the Geek Squad come over to hook it up but they were unsuccessful. It could not turn the TV on or off. It also could not go to different channels or apps. Big disappointment.

If you are wanting to control your TV and smart home devices, you may want to consider the Fire TV Cube instead of the Echo 4th Gen. Most Samsung TVs are compatible with Alexa, but some have it already built in. Without knowing the TV model number, we are unsure, but we would love to help you further. Why spend more on this when the Dot does the same stuff and you probably already have speakers around the house which when connected to the Dot become "smart". At this price the Echo show series makes more sense.
