The sound is no better but what is worse is that I have to repeat the wake up word several times before it responds. Unfortunately it's too late to return it.

You can try to troubleshoot this as this is not the expected experience one should have with this device. I would recommend checking to see if you have any software updates that are needed as older software versions could potentially cause this. You can do this by simply sayin "Alexa, check for updates." If there are any updates, it will download and install them and could take 15 minutes to do depending on your internet speeds. If this does not resolve the issue, you can contact Amazon Customer Support at 888.280.4331 for further assistance or to explore all of your options. Sound quality is muddled, not balanced (especially with Echo Sub); connectivity is challenging "I'm having trouble, please try again later" so much so Amazon recommended I return both units. And the power cord is too short and doesn't match the unit. Will be returning mine.

With the Echo in particular, we use 50% post-consumer recycled plastics, 100% post-consumer recycled fabric, and 100% recycled die-cast aluminum. My other Amazon devices will but this new one is not connecting. Not as easy as they claim. Probly will return them. Will edit this if I ever get assistance connecting them. I bought two.
