The device connects easily to your wi-fi network, especially if you use the downloadable Amazon Alexa app from your phone's app store and run the setup. Once we had it connected we immediately tried asking basic questions like "When is the football on TV tonight?", "What's the baseball schedule", etc. These were mostly answered but some received the response "I'm sorry but I don't know that", or the like. What really upset us was when we tried to say "Call Tom" who is in our phone's contacts. When it said, "I cannot find Tom in your contacts", I started searching the web for answers from other users. It was then that I discovered that it only would call other Alexa app & Echo users! ** Now that is lame! ** I'll keep persevering, and try other things, but I'm not that impressed I'm afraid.

Why didn't I buy one sooner! Works great, love the music option and playing games are fun. The light controls are invaluable and I cannot wait to see what more I can do with the features.

I thought my family would get better use out of this product. We hardly use it. It could be entertaining if we remember it’s around. Sometimes she thinks we are calling her and we are not lol. When we speak to her sometimes she does t understand what we are saying

If you like to ask (yap)Amazon - Echo Dot a lot of questions she won't mind... I can't wait until 3rd generation comes. Those will be the ones that will keep asking you the questions. J/K

The sound on this one is not as clear as my previous Echo Dot

Works well but costly. I wasn't satisified so had to buy another, along with a full size Echo, so yes, it was costly to try it. Kind of like having one potato chip, not enough.

I love my echo dot for my office and porch. I don’t need a loud speaker but it’s so nice to have a little music to listen to while working or reading. So easy to get started and use.

I have been using Alexa for weather forecasts, trivia and music. I love being hands free to make requests. I keep it in the kitchen so it makes getting dinner or other chores more fun.

The thing I like the most about the echo dot is that it responds to your questions immediately. If it pauses any longer before it responds, I don't think I have used it as much. However, Alexa will need to get smarter as there are many times that it is not responding to what I intended.

The Amazon Echo Dot is fun for the whole family. Between telling jokes, crazy facts, adding items to my grocery list, or just getting a flash news briefing, it has made my life easier and more fun.

I enjoy my dot and use it every day. Makes calls, turns my light on and off, times things and reminds me of my daily plans. I get NPR news each morning and music when I ask. Some of the jokes are not good but some really make me laugh. Almost like having a good friends with me.

I love my Alexa. I got the dot because I already had a Bluetooth speaker. The speaker on the dot is not good enough to play any music so a speaker to connect it (with Bluetooth or cable) IS A MUST

I am a little late to the smart home game but this seemed like a good beginning for me. I also bought a google assistant speaker and this one seems slightly smarter than google.

It's convenient to get news briefing, weather forecast, but still a learning curve as to what it can do. I still don't know how to command it for other functions, i.e., to turn on/off Hue light hub.

It is a great starter for building your own smart home. It has an audio out that you can use to connect it to an amp for better audio output.

I have them in my kitchen, dining, living room, and lanai. No matter where I’m at, when I need to access my shopping list, I can do it. It makes shopping so much simpler.

These are great and we'll priced. It's is awesome for reading audible books to you or your kids at night as they fall asleep. I will say I was slightly disappointed in the range of alexa. She doesn't understand a lot of what you say. But still a great product and I would recommend the dots.

It is a good tool if you have other devices to connect it to.
