My Alexa is really a lot of fun. Educational, useful, easy to set up and operate. So impressed I went out and bought another one!! Great music selection ability, night sounds for sleeping, history facts, games, you name it.

Currently had one when I purchased this one. It works great for the person that has their own stereo system (we have a couple of BOSE Wave Radios) They work great when plugged into them. The Echo dot can hear your voice easily across the room (you can speak normally, you don't have to speak very loudly, could be considered kind of creepy) Alexa is great for entertainment, and information retreval and there are a lot of "skills" that make the unit that much more user friendly.

The Echo Dot has come in handy for our family. Very useful.

Alexa was easy to set up and use. Really like that I can just provide a request to play my favorite music, get basic information, etc.Really like the concept. I have purchased additional units for my son and other family members.

I bought the Echo and LOVED it. When I saw the Dot was supposed to be almost the same thing even though it's so much cheaper I decided to get one of them for another room. My love of these got me to buy a Dot for my husband for Christmas and another for my craft room. My raving got a family member to buy one for a gift for her husband. I haven't played enough music on them to tell if there is a major difference even though the Dot is missing the big built in speaker on the Echo but the Dot sounded good enough for me. You can hook it up to speakers if you want fuller sound. I've used it to time things, give me measurement conversions when I was following a recipe and play a radio station when I didn't want to stop what I was doing to turn the radio on. It's capabilities are mind-boggling.

Alexa can handle answering some basic but important questions if you ask properly as well as playing music wirelessly
