I purchased several of these as Christmas gifts. My family loves them for playing music, finding answers to random questions and setting alarms. I use them to control my smart home from turning off lights to setting temperature.

Alexa skills are continuing to increase and the skills currently offered can do quite a lot, especially if you're looking to create a "smart home". However what may seem like a basic question or request is often answered with an answer stating she doesn't know how to answer you. Plus, you must be absolutely clear in your pronunciation at times because complex requests are sometimes answered with results that had nothing to do with the question. I asked Alexa to turn of my living room lights and she responded with "I can't find the song you are looking for." All this after the voice training feature. Doesn't have a basic search feature like Google Home, many times requiring you to ask Wikipedia for a certain answer to a question. All things considered, the Amazon Echo Dot is improving. I can turn my lights on and off, play music with millions of songs, set alarms, buy with Amazon Prime, and play games, just to name a few. I am happy with my purchase, and would recommend this as a less expensive alternative to something such as the full size Amazon Echo or Google Home. The Echo Dot price has allowed me to have one in multiple rooms.

I enjoy using this so much I purchased my 3rd one. I now have one on each floor. Fun and very useful. Insteon companion. I now can control lights Honeywell thermostat and more. I recommend this to anyone in the technology times.

good resource to play music and to answer trivia questions

My family and I love this little hockey puck. So much so that we bought a second one and set it up downstairs as an intercom system. To be honest, we use it mostly for listening to music, but we have played games on it and setup weather alerts and other things. Totally worth the price, particularly if you can get it during a sale!

I started with one Dot a couple of years ago and as more smart home products have been introduced there have been skills developed to control them. I have added two more Dots recently to put in other rooms to allow control from all over the house. At this point just controlling lighting but plan to expand to other areas as time goes on.

I love that I don't have to have my glasses on to see what time it is, I can just ask alexa when I wake up. I check traffic to work to know if I have to leave early it's fun because it sings silly songs and tell jokes, the kids love it. It has it'd draw backs, like sometimes it doesn't understand, but all in all I'd recommend it

Easy to use and nice to be able to ask anything at anytime

I already had a full size Echo which comes in very handy for a multitude of tasks. I wanted to have another in a different room but really didn't need one that big. With the Dot, I am able to place this marvel in locations that are less conspicuous. It is very handy. Plus it does all the tasks that I get from my original Echo. Very handy!

Feels like I'm living in the future controlling my home with my voice and listening to music etc. etc. etc. so easy to use, user friendly, I love Alexa! And this dot is super handy. Highly highly highly recommend it.
