Awesome - with a catch

You’ll love how useful it is, especially if you want a hand-free way to listen to music and get information. I love it! However, adding a second Dot for multiple room playback MAY disappoint you, as it did me. This is because, at the time of this review, the only music service you can use to play on multiple Echos is Amazon Music, which I’m not a fan of. If they end up adding Spotify multi-Room support, I’d be quite happy.

Why spend the extra money on the full blown Echo when the dot is far less money and does the same thing. We love it. I have it controlling several key lights in the house and have not touched a light switch in weeks. So nice to walk into a dark house say "Alexa turn on the lights" and the lights come on.

Got them as gifts

Maybe someone will catch on that we wouldn't mind receiving one too! I can't comment directly on product usage, but the people we bought them for have absolutely raved about them! I will say that Best Buy's price for the Echo Dot was FAR superior to other retailers.

A nice little extra

I also have taken it to my small cottage for weekends and will probably leave it there. It does everything the Echo does without the higher cost. The only thing it is missing is quality sound for music. It is cost effective. The only problem that I see is that Alexa remains based in my home town. When I ask for weather on my Echo dot, it automatically gives that information. I have to remember to specific where we are.
