This is a really cool device. Does more than we thought it would. Some reviews/news articles mention the possibility of Amazon being able to listen without your knowledge. There is a mic switch on the device. Turn it off. Simple. We're getting three more for other areas of our home.

Out Echo Dot was easy to get online and is proving to be very fun to talk with. She's still learning so she doesn't know some answers, however we are learning that sometimes you just need to ask the question differently. Liked ours so much I bought my parents one.

I like it very much it follows my commnd! I will tell me of she doesn't know the answer. I like my iheart radio connected to it and play my fav Pinoy variety music. It wake me up as instructed because of this lady annoying voice! The current temp if ask to. The news which is ok eventhough not much and can't give me my country's latest news. Her jokes is ok and make me smile! I got this echo dot with my earned points from my rewards with the amount of $27 only! My s7 edge made more fun if i will play my saved music and so so good to hear on my connected JBL charge 3!!! These 2 are fantastic combination and it will flood my house with bombastic sounds!!!

My mother has an echo dot that she uses regularly in her living room. She uses it for a timer, listening to music, catching up on the weather and news to name a few. She can also "call" anyone who is in her contacts who has Alexa or the app. I purchased the extra dot for her bedroom. She says it keeps her company in the middle of the night, telling her jokes, etc. HA! It is a safety feature; in case she falls she can ask Alexa to "call" one of us contacts for help. There is an app that allows telephone calls to the family but it has to be purchased. Much less expensive than some other services. I am happy as my mother is happy with her Alexa!

Love my Alexa. She was easy to set up and gives me sports updates, news updates, anything you ask of her. She even tells you goodnight. Excellent speaker quality! So easy to use.....

Love this little thing. The sound quality is actually ok for how small it is. You can always add a speaker if you want though. I use it at night to play white noise, perfect!

Great product! Small and compact so you can basically throw her anywehre in the house.

All I can say is I really like the Alexa eco system. It can do allot of things. I enjoy it most for playing music. I started with amazon unlimited music and it is so easy just to ask for any song that you could imagine. It is so easy to use as a weather station and the smart home devices are growing every day, although most are rather expensive. It's nice that it uses Wikipedia if you need some real knowledge. It's so easy even my technology challenged wife enjoys it. I'll come home and she will be listening to her favorite genre of music which happens to be Dutch! It is a great alarm clock and timer, even I have it notify me when it's time to pull the pizza out of the oven, it is also great that you can ask how much time is left on your timer, great for impatient people such as myself. It has become my news source with all the daily headlines from my different news sources. It has so many thing it can do, and it just keeps getting better!

What a great personal assistant. On sale for the holiday, I purchased several for multiple rooms in my house to enable an intercom system but also to have information such as local weather for example and to control lights, thermostat etc. from several rooms. Also made great gifts.

A piece of technology that makes your life easier. Great to have it around the house.

We have had fun playing with the new toy my husband couldn't even wait until Christmas to get. We ask Alexa frequently about the scores to various sports games, what the weather is like in different places, playing guessing games and Jeopardy, listening to music, and asking her to tell us jokes. We also purchased the Phillips Hue light system for our pendant lights in the kitchen and she is great at turning them on and off when we ask. My only "hiccup" is that often times she will turn on even when we don't say her name, which is odd. Usually we can figure out why she may have thought we were talking to her, but other times it appears to be totally out of the blue - like when she just started playing Whitney Houston songs the other night. But overall it's a fun gadget at a reasonable price and we are very happy with our purchase. And don't worry ... although I refer to Alexa as "she" and "her" I know "she's" not a real person ....

We have 3 echo dots and 1 echo, works great around the house and home office. 2 are connected to Bluetooth speakers. They are quality products and looking to expand to lights etc..

If you are looking for a great voice assistant then the Amazon Echo Dot is for you. Very simple to setup, works with most of your smart home devices and you get access to Amazon Music.

I have gone all out on the hue lighting system, so I use this Dot to access my lights in my office. The fact that it has 3.5mm audio out is also a plus - I have it feeing into the office sound system. It's great when I want to hear more U2 or Coldplay, or know the Daily five/nine.

Alexa has become my official new "assistant." I no longer have to stop what I'm doing to google a question about a recipe, weather, etc. I love that she will take care of my shopping list as I think of items and don't have to stop what I'm doing to add to the list! LOVE ECHO DOT!!

I recently updated my home with the smart technology. I figured Echo Dot especially at the price I purchased it for during the Black Friday sale was a great buy. So far, it has been great. I'm able to control other smart devices such as my thermostats and lights with the Dot. I also have it connected to my Pandora account and bluetooth on my stereo to play music through my speakers. If you like, you can play music through the Dot's speaker which is fine for a small area but for a party I think you would use other speakers. You can add skills to the Dot to increase it's knowledge and capability. I like it so much, I bought some as gifts for family members.

I enjoy Alexa it helps me with my Weather and all of the things I have questions for

I had 2 hopes for this thing: 1. The Star Trek computer experience; 2. The ability to have spoken alarm/reminders for a relative with dementia. It doesn't do either of those as I had hoped. As to the "home automation" functions, I did the x10 stuff decades ago and have little interest in spending a fortune on lightbulbs and switches for my large mid-century home. Those things aside, it is the best voice recognition device I have ever used. So many of them just don't do Southern folk well... We have had a blast requesting songs and artists and it sounds great hooked up to a Bluetooth speaker or the big stereo in the family room. I chose the Dot because I have quite a few Bluetooth and other speakers. I would love to see a battery powered version. I would also love to see the ability for it to do spoken reminder/alarms and access my music on my phone or computer. I'm still learning/exploring but very happy I got it just for the music fun...
