I like the Echo dot because it has an auxiliary outlet to plug in and can control devices. However if you want a true assistant to ask questions and do some tasks, the Home and Home mini are better. Home recognizes your voice better and is seamless when doing tasks like calendar reminder or travel time.

This device is so helpful in yoir day to day. Its hands free and awesome.

This is a great match for wifi plugs. I am also enjoying learning all the things you can do with it, like grocery list and get weather reports before I rush out the door.

The small size lets you put it anywhere in any room. Ours is in the kitchen on top of fridge. I connected a bigger speaker to it, just to add bass to it. It doesnt know as much as the Google assistant, but my wife loves it to stream music and get recipes.

When I first bought the Echo Dot, I thought it would be just a toy that would last for a week or so before losing interest. I was wrong. I am still using it daily and enjoy playing with it. It is very useful to play music and control lights. Good product.

Besides the problem to set up initially, it has been helpful for kids to check the weather as they get ready to go to school. Alexa was not as helpful as google search for information they ask so, had to buy Google's mini home.

This is a lot of fun to play with. Still so much to learn what it can do!

Great for my office and listening to music. Does the other bits that I need like weather. Allows my wife to yell at me from upstairs using the intercom feature

Still learning all features. So far so good. Plays radio by voice and sets alarm by voice. Easy to set up. Sound is of decent quality for such a small speaker.

The Echo Dot is super easy to set up and fun to use. Works as our kitchen timer, weather report, and music sound system. Discovering more uses all the time!

I have a ten year old -tech savvy- granddaughter who requested this as her Christmas gift. Since she knows more than most of us about technology, I can only assume that this is a fantastic product. Will try to update this post once the Echo is actually in use.

I researched the Amazon Echo Dot for quite a while, because I couldn't find a definitive answer, "if the Echo Dot needed anything else to work to get all of the same benefits as the more expensive Amazon Echo" Finally I found that the "Dot" does not need anything else, the only added benefit of the more expensive Amazon Echo is the speaker volume. But that is easily fixed by adding an additional Bluetooth speaker. We've started automating our home with smart plugs and switches and everything is working as advertised. I would recommend the Echo Dot to anyone wanting an inexpensive way to automated their home.

Received an echo plus as a house warming gift. Kept the echo plus in the living room for use as speaker and entertaining, but immediately knew I needed a dot to use in the bedrooms. Works great in taking advantage of smart home devices when not in living room.

I love my Alexa, she is so awesome! I use her all the time for timers, a clock and radio but she does so much more too. She answers at times when you don't say her name and ignores me at times lol, but overall she works so good. My Mom liked it so much when she visited that she got herself one as well. I don't have any smart home stuff yet to test that but I know for all the stuff I do need she works good. She even plays my nature sounds and even reads my books to me while I'm working or using the computer and can't get to the book. You don't even need an audible subscription to get that to happen :)

The Echo Dot is fun and easy to use. I find it useful to turn on and off smart home devices, set timers, play a few games, etc. It does not have full search functionality like Google Home. At the price of the Dot, it is the best available for the money.
