I put this in my bedroom. It works great and was easy to set up. I use it for an alarm clock, weather reports, listening to the radio, and turning on my lights.

The Echo Dot is pretty neat and I love how I can make calls and leave messages to people that are in my contact list that also have a Amazon Echo. Worth the buy.

I gave the Alexa by Amazon 5 stars. Why? It is very useful, install the Alexa app to your smartphone and you can do so much. Set a weekly alarm and you can snooze simply by asking Alexa, sync your calender and you can check it by request. Ask Alexis to play your favorite songs etc when you add services with Spodify or Amazon music. There are so many ways to add functionality with alexa.

The echo dot does a lot for my family. From adding items to my to do list or shopping list, playing music, and games. I can have my kindle books read to me or listen to my audible collection. I can control smart lights or outlets with my voice. I already purchased three more, so I can talk to Alexa on each floor of my townhouse.

Like the previous Dot, it is just like the Echo, minus the built-in speaker. It pairs almost effortlessly with a bluetooth speaker, sets up on WIFI very easily and shares with the existing Echos and Dots you already have. The difference with the next generation dot is that the volume control is no longer on the handy ring on top (which was easy to grab and adjust), but instead has two buttons. These buttons are sometimes hard to find in dim lighting and you end up jabbing the mute sometimes. For the price it is a great deal, a must for anyone with a Prime membership.

Pretty niffty device for playing music and general information. The wife and I ask it the weather like 10 times a day, and use it to set timers for cooking. Not really sure how useful it is, but it is fun to play with. What I don't like about it is that it doesn't work with fire stick, such as "Alexa play man in the high castle". Also if you want to play an artist, it has to be in your amazon prime music account, otherwise it will just play a channel from Pandora or I heart radio. It's pretty cool, just think it could be more practical with the right device Integration

You cannot beat the price for the echo. Easy to you, new items every day, fun, fun , fun.

I love the size and simplicity of the Echo dot. The voice recognition is pretty accurate.

Very excited about this item, It is a Christmas Present thought it was a great value for the money. But then I saw other stores offering it for the same price.

Since I don't own Google Home, I can't compare the two, but I do know this is a nice compliment to Siri. Sometimes I will ask Alexa a question that she will not know the answer to, then I'll ask Siri and she might, or visa versa. There is a lot of overlap in what they can do and they each have their own "personality", which makes it more interesting. I find I use Alexa a lot more around the house, due to the fact I'm not using up my phones battery and she has much better hearing then Siri. Liked these enough that I now own several and have given them to my adult children.

I was an early adopter of the Amazon Echo. Since then, I have added a handful of Echo Dot's to assist in other locations around my house. They were easy to setup and are primarily used to voice control everything from my lights to my sprinklers. We do not use the Echo Dot to play music very often but are excited about the announcemnt to integrate voice control with the many Sonos speakers we enjoy daily.

This unit is fantastic for small rooms. We have the dot in our bedroom and an echo plus in our living room. The built-in speaker is inferior on the dot, but it's great for turning lights on and off and streaming music in an "everywhere" group.

Minimum space requires, nice sound, small room or Bathroom is a plus

We tried the first echo in our living room/kitchen area. We liked it so much we bought another one for the bedroom. Easy to use once you understand to make the commands concise like any other electronic device. Beyond the music, alarms and knowledge questions you can also have fun asking it different questions that provides commicaly answers. Such as waht does a faox say, what does a dog say, atc.
