People have complained about the sound quality, and as compared to the Echo (which I also own), the sound is less than, but for the price, the sound is pretty great. And it will allow you to connect to external speakers, so if you really want booming sound, chances are, you're already equipped for it. For the money, this is a phenomenal addition to your household. There is no reason not to purchase this.

The cost for this item was perfect for an introduction. Very loud and useful

I bought this to allow my Wink to be able to use voice commands. I have a lot of smart bulbs, garage door opener, thermostat, smoke detectors, motion detectors ect. that I control via wink and most of it can be given voice commands through the dot, it is AWESOME! I bought 3 and placed them in bedrooms and the living room so wherever you are you can control the house with just your voice.

The Echo Dot is an awesome product because you get a lot of value for not a whole lot of money! Sire there are a lot of fun things you can do with Alexa, like play games and have her sing silly songs, but the practical side alone is well worth it. My wife and I use our Echo Dot all the time to set reminders and ask her things when our hands are tied. Overall, great money spent!

Amazon has produced a fine product. Many of my relatives and friends have the Amazon Echo Dot and recommended it to me and my wife. We are happy to have one.

I have been slowly automating my home and have decided to integrate Alexa in to that process. With the reasonably priced Dot, I can put Alexa in most of the rooms in the house. I can now control my lights, climate, security and more with Alexa. It works with many different home automation devices and hubs. And it gives me the news and plays music all over my house. It could be better with understanding common language and questions but that has gotten better every month. The Alexa app is also getting better, it started out awful. All in all, well worth the $50.00.

Sound is great for such a little box. Voice recognition is perfect. Easy to use.

Great purchase! It allowed me to link three generations of Bose portable speakers for whole house sound. Finally out of the doghouse for buying those speakers.

Setup is simple enough and sound quality is great: only downside is that the volume will randomly shoot up to the absolute highest setting

Finally, after you couldn't get these low-priced Alexa's without owning a $170 Alexa... Very smart Amazon - low price equals volume and more people playing with this technology. Love it, its cute, use it as an alarm, although, the alarm sounds are much too peaceful to wake me up. I ask whats the time, whats the weather. All interesting and fun to have at my command. I bet there are a lot of these under the Xmas tree. If you look up Alexa commands online, you will see they programmed her with some funny answers. Enjoy! Its pretty good and I'm sure will get even better.

Amazon's Echo Dot is a nice utiliuty for the rookie smart-home enthusiast. Even without the fancy ecosystem, Alexa perfroms better than Cortana and Siri when asked to either: Awnser general questions Do specific commands. My only complaint about the speaker is the sound. Music sounds good on speaker, but just good. The little speaker gets loud, but loses clairty in music, sacrificing the lows for the mids. Other than that, if you can get the Echo Dots on special..its an amazing bargain that def. recommended!

The echo is more solid but this do does a lot more than the Google home I have. It adds things to my list. Updates my Fitbit and plays Amazon music.

I'm still exploring everything Alexa can do. She has quite a personality. It was a little difficult to connect the Echo Dot to my wifi for some reason but now it works fine. So far we've enjoyed music (smoothly connected to the bluetooth speaker), alarms, recipes (she's in the kitchen) and am now gearing up to connect other smart devices and to explore other uses for this cool device...

This works great when paired with compatible Smart home devices. I have it paired with WeMo switches and TPlink plugs and bulbs as well as Ecobee thermostat.

It is easy to use and it can recognize my strongly accented voice. However, there is limited use of it given the absence of "smart" devices in my home.

I was looking into getting an echo dot for awhile. This way I could move the Echo upstairs and hook the dot up to our speakers in the living room. We are still working on getting a cord to hook it up to the speakers, but I love the dot. I was worried how the sound quality would compare to the Echo, but really it was better than I thought it would be. I would recommend this product to my friends.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for family members. Also bought smart Wifi plugs that work with the Amazon Alexa app to control electronics, & appliances.

This was a gift for a friend who had difficulty using his hands. So just to task to use this product was the perfect Christmas present for him. He loves it!
