Having Alexa around is just plain fun. While it’s very useful for keeping a family grocery list, keeping a calendar and checking news and weather it’s also fun to play games and “drop in”. Don’t know what we did before Alexa!

The Echo Dot is the smaller version of Amazon Echo (Alexa), it is a good addition to the Echo family, especially for other rooms in your house. It can do most everything the larger Echo does, and it can be used thru blue tooth & direct connect speakers (aux in). Its own speakers are not that great, so it is recommended to use another speaker. The built in mic is ok, but doesn't seem to be as sensitive as the larger Echo, perhaps because of its lower profile. All in all, it is a good addition to your hi tech needs at a very reasonable price!

This is a cool little thing to have around the house. It's like having a vocal calculator or encyclopedia at your service. It even has a sense of humor! I asked it, "who you gonna call ", and it said "ghost busters "! Awesome!

I bought this gift for a friend who has many devices that are operable with Alexa. The echo dot worked perfectly for him as he had a speaker he hardly used and was able to connect it with an auxiliary cord to amplify sound. He says he uses it every day for weather, to use his Roomba and that he even bought smart lights to go under his cabinets in his kitchen.

I was very taken aback by all of Alexas abilities that she can perform. Not only does she play music she can reorder your grocery items you need.

I haven't realized all that this item can do, buy it is impressive. So far we use it for music, wake up services, reminders, grocery lists, and lately, for turning smart light bulbs on an off. This can also be done away from home using the app. I guess there are more possibilities. The app makes initial setup fairly at least for the 70 year old.

Always wanted to purchase the Echo. Didn't know about the Echo Dot until I actually went to Best Buy to check out the Echo. Much smaller so it hides away very nicely. Found out after I bought it that my wife was going to buy it for me for Christmas. Oh well. We both like it. Small learning curve. Nothing comes with direction anymore. Answers most questions very quickly. Ask Alexa to start a shopping list or to do list. Add items to the lists easily. Check the weather. Favorite sports team scores. What's on your calendar. Games. Lots more.

I pay for Amazon Prime, so when I decided I wanted to buy into the "always-on smart home etc." market the dot was a clear choice. For my needs, the speaker on the dot is good enough in most cases. Audiophiles may disagree, but I don't mind. It's great to keep in my living room for asking questions, controlling my smart switches, and calling up music. Definitely a great purchase!

I love the Echo Dot. That said, I do not have a standard Echo to compare to. Since my purchase of the Echo Dot, I have written skills for Alexa and have received more Echo Dots. I now have 4 Echo Dots all over my house. Great product. Requires internet connection to be able to use any functions (even non-internet request such as set a timer). Great buy. Fun to play with.

Bought as a gift for the in-laws last year for Christmas. They absolutely love it. The compact size is perfect as it does not require much space. It is very affordable and works as it should. The only downside is the sound quality is not the best, but I don’t believe that it is meant to be. It can be paired to a speaker to improve the sound anyway.

I have the fullsize Alexa Echo for 6months and love her! Now it was time to expand the reach of the my little impulsive side to other areas of the house. The Echo DOT is smaller and blends in just about anywhere. The sound is the only drawback to this unit. It doesnt have the Ah-mazing sound that her big sister has (Alexa Echo) but then again, she is the lil sis in size and price. So cut some slack. Great to add to Grandma's house just for the fun of it! Now grandma can ask Amazon about the weather forecast anytime she wants :)))
