The only difference between this one and the regular echo is the speaker size, functionality is the same. I have the regular echo in my kitchen, while this one is in the bedroom. The speaker quality is better than a cell phone, but not quite as good as the regular echo. However it does have a aux port in which you can plug it into a better sounding speaker.

Amazon - Echo Dot - White is a cool product. I mainly use it for inquiring about the local weather forecast and playing trivia games. However, my kids are the ones who use it most. They love trivia games, requesting songs and just being silly with Alexa. Even my 1-year old son tries to talk to her. It's quite the entertaining and informative gadget.

This is my first echo / experience with Alexa. I enjoy very much (listening music) and my children enjoy (listening music n asking questions such as how to spell words n president of USA and many many more various qurstions). Price is very reasonable. We take echo to travel with us everywhere. I like it so much, I end up also buy the big Alexa. Definitely recommend!!

I bought this initially because for $40 it looked amusing but it also is very useful. Program your flash report and check on traffic and weather before you leave the house for work. Alexa had me go a different route to work because of a huge accident on the Interstate. Helpful with setting timers when cooking, playing music, telling jokes. Well worth the money!!!

Purchased the Echo Dot for my husband for Christmas. The price of $39.99 is a great alternative to the larger speaker, priced at $179.99, and it does the same thing! We synched our bedroom lights as well, which is really convenient! The only frustration is that you have to say Alexa every time, and she cannot continue a conversations string. Overall, a fun purchase!

I bought this as a gift for my son. I have two myself and they semlessly connect to my Echo device. This was a great deal from Best Buy.

This is my second Dot purchased, which I use upstairs. Enjoy using it for a lot of my daily activities as well as my home WiFi lighting.

If only used as a radio, it is totally worth it. I find some of the House automaton and lighting items pricy, but we are still in early stages of product. It is tied in to my thermostat (inexpensive Honeywell WiFi enables), and several smart plugs. I use Prime for fabulous free music, and have purchased 3 more since 1st- plus 2 as gifts.

Our new favorite family game is "Who will Echo Listen to?" To find out who gets to pick the music we listen to by all calling out our requests at once. It's hard to have lengthy debates over "who" is right when you can just ask Echo what year the Flyers won the Stanley Cup. She knew! It cracks me up when out of no where she adds "bread to the shopping list". What shopping list you ask? IDK... It's my only criticism because every once in awhile it seems to have its own agenda. But then again... Don't we all?

I haven't used the dot myself but I'm sure it works just as good as the other just the sound quality is probably less sure to it's size

I bought the white echo dot had an Christmas gift for my daughter.She really loves it. ought it as gift for my daughter. She loves it.

I'm super impressed with the Echo Dot! The size makes it easy to place in different rooms without being an eye sore and when connected to home control it allows me to control the lights and devices in my home by just talking to Alexa. Overall Alexa has great features, the dot is a good size and it uses a standard micro-usb for power so it's super convenient.

purchased two of these to give to give away as Christmas gifts - one to my parents who barely understand technology and one to my college daughter for her dorm room. My parents love it as they can know tell Alexa to play music they like, find out the weather and more. My daughter loves having it in her college apartment for too many reasons to list.

I have 4 of these around the house. I have them setup to work with Samsung Smartthings. These little device are nice but always room for improvement but this is just the begining of voice assistance and beyond. Speaker sounds pretty good for it size. my family uses these every day from timers to wake up in morning and even help with school work. Also first gen dot ran hotter this 2nd gen is cool to the touch.

My 8 year old daughter asked me to get it for her for christmas and one of the doctor's I work with brought the staff one as well. Nice

We have the amazon echo but found it was too big for certain areas. This fixes those issues and allows my son to use as well with ease.

My 6 year old grandson had so much fun asking my Alexa questions that I gave him one for his birthday (I set the code so he cannot shop!)
