The echo dot is Small and easy to use. Great gift! Set up took a few times.

We own two original Amazon Echos and my son wanted one for is room. I didn't want to spend another $100 or so, so we settled on the dot! I'm amazed at the quality of the dot! For the money, the speaker really isn't that bad, and it has all the same controls as the full blown echo. It also has a headphone jack if you want to plug into a better speaker. Try it! You'll LOVE it!

Really like the Echo Dot (v.2)! Just like many people, I have started turning my house into a smart home and have added multiple smart switches to control the lights inside but particularly the outside lights. It is so much more convenient to just tell Alexa to turn on/off the lights rather than opening the individual apps or pushing the switch (can’t believe I would ever say that, I am becoming lazier and lazier by the day). One of the things I wish Amazon would do soon is the ability for Alexa to learn multiple languages. The device is already super popular among English-speaking people and I definitely believe it sales would grow exponentially if Alexa could “speak” foreign languages. The Echo dot fits perfectly into my lifestyle. I don’t need the integrated fancy speakers as I already have my own surround sound and WiFi speakers so this device is perfect for me. I highly recommend the Echo Dot to anyone who is looking into making their home a smart home. There are a ton of smart devices that are compatible with Alexa, as opposed to Google Home or Apple’s HomeKit. I am a very satisfied customer and will most likely buy another one to have full coverage around my home.

We both the Echo Dot on a whim, both my wife and I weren't sure if having the dot would really be worth investing in. (It helped that it was on sale for Thanksgiving). Since we've bought the Echo Dot we use it on a daily basis for listening to Spotify, getting the news, hearing her tell us the odds of safely navigating an asteroid field or my favorite so far, just telling her to add something to my shopping list. For a little bit I was wishing we had bought he larger version with a built in speaker, but then I realized the wonderful sound-bar the Echo Dot sits next to can be connected via bluetooth. Now, I think my sound is even better than the larger version. We've also integrated our Philips Hue system with the Echo Dot. I will admit, it was a bit of a pain to do the initial set up, and get Echo to work with Hue, but once things were set it was all good. I'm planning on buying two more, one for my office and one for my bedroom and can't recommend her enough. One other downside is you HAVE to change her start-up name to Echo. If you leave it at Alexia or Amazon every time you watch tech stuff on the news or youtube someone will end up saying Alexia or Amazon and she'll wake up and think you're talking to her. Google and Apple do a better job with having to say "Hey ____" to wake up the device.

Really helpful for alarms, listening to Spotify, and checking the weather.

great device for the price, does lots of stuff and getting new skills all the time, we use it in the kitchen where it does multiple timers (2 minutes potatos and 5 minutes rice etc) give weather and traffic, tells jokes, plays music, reads audiobooks etc.

This is a perfect little, low profile product with great sound and skills.

Got this as gift worried it would need an external speaker. The sound isn't bad for the small size. Nice addition to my Alexa and show.

The echo dot is a great addition and I am only just discovering the full capabilities.the sound quality is excellent even without external speakers . Set up is easy and connections to speakers and other hardware via Bluetooth is simple. Full marks!

I have been toying with an idea of a device I can talk to, be it music, story telling, news, jokes etc.. Wow I found Alexa in a small round 2nd generation echo dot .Although It has its own speaker I still connected it with my Bose Revolve speaker to get an all around sound. I got the device I needed, non stop of asking her and does not complain no matter what. So happy...

The Amazon dot is excellent at playing music, telling you the weather, etc. However, when you want to find out information, it is very bad. I recently discovered that this is because it uses Bing instead of Google as its search engine. I wish they would change that. Also, it is kind of complicated to use all the features. I am 59 and not as tech savvy as a younger person. If I want it to do something I see advertised (such as work as an intercom with our second one) I need to have my daughter set it up for me.

Pros: - Can NOW play music over multiple units simultaneously - Can use the new drop in feature as a intercom system and to monitor your baby (however it is loud when it is initialized) - Love that you can make phone calls with this, and your cell phone can be used to show up on people's caller IDs - Better interface than Google Home Mini when it comes to dealing with other third party smart home devices Cons: - Not as good at answering things as the Google Home Mini - Cannot connect with your email

Echo Dots are versatile and very useful small electronic "assistants" for anyone who would like to have a clever and helpful gadget that will be helpful as well as fun. They are easy to use and with the price drop this year they are more affordable than ever and a great gift for almost any age person or a gift to yourself. My daughter has one up and downstairs.

There is nothing bad I can possibly say about this device. If you want great sound, it has an audio out to hook up your own speakers. If you want to use a non Amazon music service, such as Pandora, Spotify, or Tune In they all work and many more. Alexa is always ready to set alarms, play music, and answer my questions. I now own two echo dots, and love them both!

One of the first things we learned about Echo was an app like Sleep Sounds or Zen Sounds that help me get to sleep. The Echo Dot is small enough to be put almost anywhere. I keep mine in the bedroom where the room would be out of range for my Echo. There are almost unlimited apps and more being developed all the time. This is an example of "The future is now".
