I dot not use the dot much for playing music since I got the echo which sounds better. But it is good to have for other functions such as reminders, adding to lists, calendar, etc.

Although this version is very outdated as of this review, it's still relevant in today's market. Sound and microphone work as needed and the AI is the same version as newer iterations, due to updated support.

Easily placed in out of the way locations in house. Thinking about setting one up for my 82 year old mother.

I absolutely love having this next to my bed for peaceful music/sounds to help me sleep. It's a great alarm clock and it's nice to be able to get a quick news flash and play some music while I'm getting ready for work without having to use my phone. And for the $30 sale price you really can't beat it.

Alexa is a fun thing to have around the house. I'm sure if I researched all the functionalities it has, it would be an even greater value for the money. Right now it's used for music, weather, jokes and a few games, but I know it has a lot more to offer! Either way it's a great price for a fun product.

I have just added this to the office and can now enjoy all the benefits of my Alexa service as I work as well.

It works really well..but I recommend having a Bluetooth speaker near by because it won't fill room with music..for $30 it is very nice

I bought this dot for my wife to add to another room of our house. We already have two others and love them.

-Solid product. Well manufactured. -I use my DOT multiple times daily from news, to weather, edit and review my calendar events, traffic, music, radio,shopping, etcetera. I have even plugged in a soundbar for an additional quality music experience. -I am planning on getting another DOT for my basement family room.

very easy to setup, i use it to know weather, news, turn on off light, fan and electric kettle with my voice command. speaker is good, loud and has a 3.5 mm plug for my music system when kids wants to hear music. it tell flight details, news and GK questions all on voice command.

I bought this thing on impulse. I am truly a gadget fanatic. It was fun at first, but now I rarely use it. But, I'd have to say it does what it's supposed to do and does it well.

I love the Echos, all sizes. I have the large one in the living room, but having a smaller one, the Dot, in the bedroom or other locations is great. I love playing music to fall asleep by, setting a sleep timer, and rolling over during the night to ask what time it is. I also use it to control my smart home. Awesome.

One of the first things we did was played a game call Word Chain. We sat around as a family and had a blast.

awesome little device. Does everything the larger, regular size echo can do, minus the better sound quality.

This is the best Christmas gift I bought my 12 year old. My 6 yr old triplets also love it. They love to have Alexa play songs and tell jokes. My daughter can also check her spelling for her homework assignments by asking Alexa because, as she says, "how am I supposed to look it up if I don't know how to spell it?"

I bought this on a whim not expecting it to be as useful as it turned out to be. I use it primarily for controlling my home automation lights and thermostat. I'm currently using it with a Wink hub and an Ecobee thermostat. Its nice, for example, when I'm carrying something to be able to simply say Alexa turn on or off a light or turn up the temperature. This was one if not the best purchase I have made in my home automation system.

Works better than 1st Gen dots but still has Wifi connectivity problems after power outages. Sometimes I have to unplug one or two of the Gen 2 units to reconnect to WiFi if the router has had a reboot. Not a bad product but if you have a choice get the 3rd Gen on sale or bundled with another purchase. 3rd Gen has a much better sound quality in my mind.
