Easy setup, no connection problems, great compatibility

Amazon Echo's virtual assistant Alexa is not unique. MS has Cortana and Apple has Siri. However, Amazon was the first player to add a physical entity to the virtual voice. That made it a real assistant. Having said that, Google did the same and I hear Google is better at searching the web and finding answers. A very good thing about Echo is the idea of skills and constant learning (machine learning). Secondly, third party developers can add their own additions through APIs that Amazon has made available. The pace of development at Amazon is amazing. That is why, I see a good future for these IOT devices. The echo dot is under $50 and is a cute device. Kids really love to interact with it. The sound quality is pretty good for such a small device. I gifted this to wife on V-day and she loves it. We use it mostly for jokes, weather updates, news flash, some web search, funny chats and sometimes, some music. But, it still has to learn more and make itself for usable and that is why I am giving a 4 star. Otherwise, you won't regret buying it. I am going to buy one more today as a gift to my cousin on her birthday.

These little dots carry a great sound and are discrete.

The dot is all you need. For the money you cannot go wrong with the dot. If you train her (on the Alexa App), she will do a lot of tasks for you. In our home she turns on/off the lights, locks the front door, controls the home temp, traffic reports, news, and even tells us good morning with a view of the day. We love our Echo Dot.!

I LIKE THAT THE AMAZON ECHO DOT IS A SMALL DEVICE THAT YOU CAN VIRTUALLY PLACE ANYWHERE. IT'S EASY TO USE AND SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO HEAR YOU FROM A PRETTY FAR DISTANCE. THE ONLY CAVEAT IS THAT IT'S STILL TRYING TO RECOGNIZE ANOTHER LANGUAGE. I'D LOVE FOR IT TO BE ABLE TO SPEAK AND UNDERSTAND MANDARIN.

Watching the ads in the beginning, I was skeptical on how useful the Echo Dot would truly be in my life and how it differed form the Echo (larger device); but once I opened it and spent a little time adding things like "skills" (which you find in the app and can enhance Alexa beyond belief), I quickly realized how much I LOVE this device! I have it hooked up with another external bluetooth speaker I have (which allows for much better sound) along with any and all other accounts I have, such as Pandora, iHeart Radio, etc., and now I find myself asking Alexa to do almost everything; i.e., "Alexa, play some _____ (artist) station", to "Alexa, turn on my Blu-Ray Player/ TV/ Apple TV/ Radio". This device I can truly see is the beginning of where home technology is headed.

This device is absolutely wonderful. I used it to play a variety of music and to turn my lights off and on. I use the voice commands to set alarms and to get weather updates. It's small and compact. I absolutely love it.

Pretty good range for voice recognition. Tells me the weather plays my favorite Pandira songs and is capable of streaming Sirius radio. I read many complaints about it’s sound capabilities but it is descent. I play my music while I’m sleeping and although it’s not a dedicated speaker it works as intended and I have no complaints

We bought the Echo to replace another unit we had. We like the compact size. It has great sound. I would highly recommend this unit. It will pair with a bluetooth speaker if you need more sound than what it offers.

Pretty cool device got some for my kids for Christmas they loved it their 27and 26 years old they live in New Jersey and Missiouri I would recommend echo dot to family and friends and Best Buy was a great place to buy electronic devices from it was easy in store and online the people are friendly and knowledgeable . Thank you !

I wasn’t going to get an Alexa or any similar device, but when this came in at <$30 I couldn’t resist. Now I get the attraction. Really good voice recognition, fun to play with skills and I can change music from the shower. It is not HiFi quality’s sometimes sound, but it is surprisingly good and certainly better than any phone

It's quite impressive how far technology has come. I used to be a big fan of the Jetsons when I was little and thats exactly what Alexa makes me think of. She has answers for everything, connects to other smart electronics in the house and plays endless music (at least those things are what we use her most for). Once we get to know her a bit better, we will start taking advantage of having her order items for us. It's impeccable the amount she understands and her timeliness is prompt with anything asked of her. I highly recommend the echo dot/ Alexa and I'm sorry if I made it awkward for anyone by referring to "it" as a "her".... but once you receive her and that "relationship" is formed, you'll see what I mean! A must purchase!

This is a neat little gadget, most of the time. It doesn't always know the questions I ask, and I'm still learning about it, too. It also doesn't always play the music I ask it to, when I ask it. I haven't played around with it too much, yet, but most of what I've seen I like. I do not like that sometimes when I ask it to play a radio station (on tunein), and then I go to work, it plays. But when I get home from work, it has turned itself off. While other times, it has stayed on the whole day (as I intended it to), and still was on when I got home from work. And this is the same radio station and music app (tunein). That is annoying. I like playing Jeopardy on it, too, but sometimes it does not recognize my answer, and then she tells me I got it wrong, when it was the correct answer to begin with. So overall, maybe it just takes some learning on both parts, and a little tweaking, to get used to my questions, etc. I still like the idea of it. It's easy to use, and takes up hardly any room at all. It's just about the perfect size for an apartment or a small room.

I love this little device! Echo dot has been part of our daily life helping with weather forecast, reading news, playing music, telling jokes, controlling lights and cooperating with silly talks, lol. I also got a mokcao speaker for it to have sound support. Anyway, I'm very happy with the life change Echo Dot brought to us.
