Disclaimer: This is my first time owning and setting up an Amazon Eco Dot. I have never had similar products before either. Review: I purchased the Eco Dot out of curiosity. I have read glorying reviews online and at a discounted price of $39.99, I thought it would be reasonable to spend the little money for a learning experience. This little device has not disappointed me and I found it quite useful in my daily life. I enjoyed using it as an alarm, streaming music from Amazon Prime, and lately, I pair it with my smart home system. It controls on/off of my lights just as promised in the advertisement. In addition to that, I have used it to read my audio books and it functions very well.

Works exactly as advertised. I cannot speak to how it does without pairing with an Alexa. We bought ours to extend the use of or Alexa to other rooms in the house. That way we could control other items from other floors and voice enable other TVs. I wish I would have bought one long before now.

I had been wanting to purchase the echo dot for some time for the bed room. Great for checking the traffic and weather in the morning. Also a nice option for setting alarms. I have it blue tooth connected to a beats wireless speaker for streaming amazon music. I am very happy with my purchase.

The Amazon Echo Dot is a great price and a must-have for every household. Highly recommend this as a gift for those who are hard to buy for...Less than $50, this is guaranteed to bring joy to the young and the young-at-heart. Requires some reading, but otherwise set-up is pretty uncomplicated.

I received the echo dot as a gift and I absolutely love it! Alexa responds to almost every question you ask her. There are a few apps you need to put on the list on the Alexa app on your phone for questions she may not respond to, one app is called Roast calculator. You ask Alexa to open up it, and she can answer your question about what temperature or time for roasting meats. Most questions like " what is the temperature out" do not need an app on your phone. She does lists and can be tied in with your calendar from your phone. So many things she does and so convenient. I blue toothed her to a portable speaker and she plays my music when asked. The echo dot is well worth the money!!

I recently bought the Echo Dot after seeing a Youtube review. Extremely easy to setup and use. If you have Amazon Prime then you also have Prime Music. Just tell Alexa what you would like to hear and she plays it. Ask a question and she responds. She also tells good jokes. I also like the blue circle of light showing interaction. Science Fiction come to reality. Echo works with various home control devices. Forget the more expensive versions which are also larger. The Echo DOT is all you need. Echo also paired up with my Samsung sound bar system very easily. The Echo is so inexpensive you could put one in every room but that would be overkill. Amazon has a winner! Star Trek comes home!

I didn't know these really existed until I saw them on sale for Black Friday. After doing some research, I found out that the Echo can control my existing thermostat and WeMo lighting systems. Even at the normal price of $50, it's sooooo worth it! Alexa is very responsive and can even hear us from across our small-ish house. I bought 2 and will be putting a 3rd one in my garage to stream music from my phone, through the Echo Dot, to my stereo (You have to have a Prime subscription for the Echo to stream music from internet radio). Google home will eventually give Amazon the run for it's smart home assistant money, but it has a ways to go yet. Either way, for $50, you can't go wrong!

This is the second Echo Dot we purchased and it set up smoothly, as did the first. However, in the setup process, it linked itself to the first unit and the speaker to which the first Echo Dot was paired. This resulted in the sound playing only in the other room. Needed to shut dawn and upplug other Echo Dot and speaker and redo the entire setup. Not all that big an issue but a bit confusing until we figured it out.

The Echo Dot is such an awesome product. Basically it can do everything except clean your house. It’s affordable and useful as an alarm, a weather forcaster. You can control lights, music, garage doors, thermostats and so much more. We often use our dots as intercoms via the drop in feature.

Lots of fun. Ask Alexa just about anything and she has the answer for it. I love knowing what the weather is and will be in an instant. If I'm bored I'll ask a silly questin. I'm looking forward to linking Dot/Alexa to my tv so I can change the channel from some drivel the hubby is watching.

I use this in the boys room, and it’s great they can control the lights upstairs and I use it as an alarm to wake them for school, also it’s an intercom system so you don’t have to yell or walk around the house. I have several echo’s and echo dots around the house. It’s the way of the future!

I have an Echo and and 2 Echo Dots, not including this one. I bought this one as a gift. I use Alexa constantly for timers, alarms, shopping lists, music and all sorts of questions (e.g. Alexa convert 25 degrees Celsius). She's not perfect, but a great source of information and convenience.

I love the Echo Dot. It's so convenient to set an alarm if I forget or to listen to music at night and have Alexa turn it off at the requested time. The kids love asking Alexa to tell a joke.

Got the Echo Dot for whole family for Christmas after trying out Google Home and Apple HomeKit. All three good, but Amazon a bit ahead of the others as far as smart device compatibility. The ability to drop in on an aging parent for the other family members also played a role in the decision to purchase. I also like the flash briefings. Google and Apple not too far behind, but Echo in the lead this Christmas.

Simple to set up and fun to use. Helpful hands-free assistant and dj. Ask it a question or have it play a song. Set up timers or reminders or the weather for the day. With multiple dots in your home you can even use it as an intercom system. So many functions and uses with added app extras

Works well for such a small device. I have both a dot and an Echo. I have them both available as a group or they can run independently at the same time. My initial install of the echo carries fwd the entire play list on the Music side. Using the Pause and resume capability is really nice.

I don't know how I lived before I got my Echo Dot. It's so helpful in making my day to day activities easier. I use it to learn the time, hear the latest news, turn on/off my lights, listen to the radio, and more. So many ways to use it that I'm still learning, and I'm enjoying the journey.

Purchased dot for kids. Great product. They love interacting with it and listen to music.

This product is excellent value for money. It performs as advertised. The voice recognition works almost 100%. It adds a new dimension in convenience for playing music at home and controlling lights. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to move into the 21st century!

This is now our fourth dot. Best Buy had an awesome deal to get the dot and the TP Link switch at a great price together so I couldn't resist. The dot works great for us. Our rooms are on the smaller side, no issues with Alexa hearing us. The Alexa service is fun and we have it hooked into our Samsung SmartThings as well as a couple of Lowes Iris switches and the TP Link switch. It all works great. We can connect into Spotify for music and while the speaker isn't the best, it gives you some background music. I have connected one of the dots to our Vizio sound bar but to be honest, I don't use it that much (I usually listen to music via headphones). Each morning we use Alexa to give us the weather report. And once a week I ask her what she would do for a Klondike (she still doesn't have an answer for that). I cannot speak to the difference of the Dot to the other Echo products but it definitely works for us and being so inexpensive compared to others, it makes home automation fun.
