We love our Dot!

If you don't have any other items that are compatible, it's still a useful item. You can call an Uber, order pizza, etc. without anything but your Amazon account!

Not a day goes buy that we don't ask Alexa something that has to due with the weather, whats happening in the world etc. I purchased each one of my grandchildren one.

Fun and informative

It's an alarm clock, gives the news, sports, weather, tells jokes, plays music, etc. Fun & functional.

Perfect for use w/ existing Bluetooth sound system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a new Bluethooth surround speaker system (speaker bar, sub and 2 rears) and this worked flawlessly in setup. What's great too is after the initial Bluetooth discovery, if I have had the speaker system on another input (TV or another device) each time I want to re-connect the echo dot, I can just simply say "Alexa, connect to Bluetooth". BOOM. So fun to be able to control music selections with a voice request. Works well with my Phillps HUE lights too. I walk in and just say "Alexa, lights on" or "Alexa, dim lights to 20%". Never failed once! Looking to train it to do even more with color scenes on the lights and eventually a thermostat too. The Dot can stay nicely tucked up on the shelf unseen. Visitors think we're on a StarTrek ship!

Enjoyable

Bought a couple of the buttons to go with it. It was fun. But apparently I didn't buy enough for everyone ;)

The speaker is very quiet, so this is best used as a secondary one for voice controls and less so for listening to music.

Awesome Gadget

Look up research, recipes, weather, stats, phone numbers. You can turn tv, fan, or lights on and off. These are all controlled with voice command.
