Bought this echo dot on black Friday. And I'm happy with purchase. Just ask Alex and she will answer everythings. Gives you good musics and movies if you are prime member in Amazon. Just get prime membership and get echo devices and you will see what it does.

The price was great, the echo dot is very easy to use. We bought another one for my mother who is an older woman and is alone a lot, if she were to fall or can’t get to the phone she can ask Alexa to call me. Alexa is very entertaining, our pets love her too!

So, i bought the Echo Plus and the Echo Dot. Dot does not have the bluetooth style hub. Through Amazon/Alexa App/Username - they both function together. I took the Dot to work and joined the wireless network, then using the drop in feature i talked to my dog at my house (watching another video cam app - i could tell she was hearing me).. for $30.00 it's worth the fun..

i am amazon guy... and this dot is a very affordable way to wire whole house... this little one works just like larger original echo. speaker? yes, not as good if you were trying to listen to music or so... but, listening to news and such? no issue at all!!!

If you are looking for a simple entry level virtual assistant for your home then this is the thing for you. But if you have become accustomed to what is offered on the current smartphones, then you are likely to be disappointed. Alexa is basic but cute. I suppose if you subscribe to all things Amazon there is alot more that she is capable of doing. But if you are Apple oriented like me, you will feel left out. Alexa and Siri are not the best of friends. In fact, just ask Alexa. She will profess to never having heard of Siri. Come on, really?!? But still she is cute...and cheap. Worth the thirty dolllars for the Echo Dot just to see how the other half is coming along.

For years I had to get out of bed to turn off my light and set my alarm like I lived in the year 1990. The deal on black friday with the wemo switch made it an easy decision to purchase Alexa. Setup was easy and it works with my bose speaker and wemo switch.

I love this echo dot I actually have this one in the master bedroom which communicates easily with my echo plus in the living room whenever I want to drop in and speak to someone downstairs rather than yelling from upstairs. I will be getting a couple more for the kids rooms (great intercom) for sure. Can’t wait to be their alarm “dot” every morning for school lol Alexa is pretty awesome and responds to almost anything you want her to respond to. Weather, sports, movie listings, you name it and she does it, want to relax with good sounds for your ears just ask Alexa to play healing sounds or ocean sounds, or even rain sounds, etc. It’s a perfect piece of electronic to add to your home devices.

My son got this for Christmas, he is 13. He hooked it up w/o difficulty. He loves it and so do I. I ordered myself one on Christmas day :) and my other 2 boys got one as well. We LOVE ALEXIA. It was an awesome gift. Would def recommend to anyone of all ages

I wanted to have Alexa in my car (via Mobile hotspot) but NOT going through my speakers for doing things I forgot/didn't have time to do when leaving the house (Security/lights/etc). At first I thought the Garmin Speak was the alternative, but after getting to see it up close, I knew that the speaker just wasn't going to cut in as my SUV has 'louder' tires (tread). I keep it nestled just behind my gear shift, in front of the console and out of the way, utilizing my cars native USB. If you want to put it on a cigarette lighter adapter, go for it, but I liked the idea of turning off/on with the car. The one caveat is if I try to adjust the Dot volume manually too quickly, it'll reboot. My guess is that the USB barely powers enough. If i just tell her "volume 10", no problem, but button pushing to go from 1 to 10 is an instant reboot; this is a fault of my vehicle, not the Dot.

I have five out of the Amazon Echo. Haven't hooked up to around 20 different lights my thermostat my television my entire AV system using his alarm it will do everything but the kitchen sink oh yes I also have it hooked up to run my vacuum when I asked him to

Connected my Phillips Hue lights to an Echo upstairs and downstairs. My wife gets up early to exercise and instead of turning on the bright hall light which would wake me, she tells Alexa to turn lights on downstairs. No more walking down dark stairs early in the morning. When cooking and a timer is needed we just tell Alexa to set one. Alexa plays games with us too.

We purchased this for our 86-year-old dad because searching for things on his phone isn't always easy for him. He's a big sports fan and a news junkie and this unit will help him find game scores, the latest headlines, and anything else he wants to discoer.

Alexa dot has been a great purchase. We have it hooked up to our TV surroundsound speaker. It is very useful and fun and we find new uses for it every day. My son has even figured out he can get answers to his homework using the Alexa Dot. Things were use it for most are timers, playing trivia games, asking weather or traffic locally, history questions, cooking questions and conversions, playing music from our Pandora account, etc. Definitely worth the low price! The only half bad thing is that you have to speak very clearly. My six-year-old with a lisp has a hard time communicating with it :)

We use our Amazon Echo as a smarthome hub and it's worked brilliantly...upstairs. The Dot let me extend its power to the downstairs. If you don't need the speaker (or have a better one you'd rather use) for streaming music, the Dot is a perfect mini version.

I tried the echo dot for a week. I found mine not very responsive at times. I felt like I had to raise my voice all the time. The timer was not very loud so that was useless but it did work great with my external speakers. I returned it and bought the Echo second generation so far I like this one.

Alexa is awesome. I've created to do lists and every morning I ask Alexa what is on my list. No more need for a million post it notes on my desk.I also have a for lamp which was difficult to reach the switch. Now Alexa turns it on and off with a Wemo plug.

Very easy to set up and use. Of course it can't handle all the questions you might ask, but the speed at which it answers is amazing. Takes up very little space on a table and looks nice to. I bought one just for my wife to use as an alarm clock and the ease of setting an alarm just by asking. Voice recognition is excellent and for some soft background music the internal speaker is fine. We paired one of these to a BT speaker for some better quality and louder music and it works great. Even my wife who doesn't really appreciate electronic devices thinks the dot was a smart buy and she uses it a lot.

I already own an Echo and decided to get an Echo Dot for my bedroom. I paired it with a clock/dock and it works like a charm. I can tell it when to wake me up, play music, or any number of things. I just may have to get some more Echo compatible devices.

It works very well and is easy to use. We mainly use it for music, the daily briefing, random facts, and timers in the kitchen. There are some times where it does not respond or is stuck in a loop but that is rare.

This item works great. I use it to check the weather, look up info, timer, alarm, for my pandora, and dish t.v. It's well worth the price.
