The dot is extremely responsive to voice commands. It is the least expensive echo but has a feature that the largest echo does not. Because the large echo contains a speaker, Amazon removed the ability to pair it with an external bluetooth speaker. Since I use the dot to play music through a receiver via bluetooth or a bluetooth speaker that feature was important to me. Lots of fun and silly things to do with the dot(and all other Alexa echo items) so it is recommended for family use and individual use alike. The only reason I deducted one star was because there are a lot of questions that Alexa cannot answer as of now. It is weaker in this regard than doing a google search. But at this price point it is well worth it if you have an external speaker or system to connect it to. It also has an audio out jack if you do not have a bluetooth speaker. By the way it interfaces with some home automation products which is great. It is important to note that with no external speaker connected the sound quality is much weaker.

Great product. Bought for my niece and nephew after having one myself. They love it. They use it for Sports scores, playing music, asking Alexa questions. If you have Prime it's a no-brainer to get it.

I love this thing. We use it for music in the kitchen all the time and just for general use purposes like asking it questions and such. It is fantastic and I'm thinking about buying more for the house.

I am very pleased with my amazon echo. It is very easy to set up and use. I started with the least expensive echo and Alexa has been able to answer my questions and provide the music I enjoy.

I have the Dot in my office to listen to my favorite sports stations and podcasts during the day. I also use the alarm and add to calender function regularly. I can also call from my unit to my daughter's house with hers. I know I am scratching the surface with the things it can do.

These were x-mas gifts that both families are truly enjoying. Playing music by hooking up to wireless speakers and asking ALEXIA questions. They really like it. Planning on another purchase of the DOT..

Very convenient if you use Amazon music or have a Spotify premium account. Sound is not as good as the google home mini, or of course, than the bigger Echo, but it is fine — if you want something that sounds better you can also pair it with an external speaker.

Bought this for our kids to use in their space. Sound is not as great as the Echo Plus, but sufficient for their smaller space. Works great! Kids enjoy asking questions and listening to music!

Echo Dot is fun for kids and adults. Kids spend endless hours playing games on it using their voice and adults used toys like home automation or you can turn the lights on and off closed or open garage

We love our Echo Dot 2. It is so much faster than typing our questions using any other device, we love getting quick answers. It is great for requesting songs when you set it yuo with Spotify.

So I now have an Echo and three dots in the house. Obviously I like them. I can control many lights, outlets, and thermostats now. These things are very cool when you set them all up together!

The echo dot is pretty cool, it does and answers basic commands I ask. It recommends that you download your information to using the app so it can do more, but I haven't done it yet. My husband did though and he is able to get more out of it than I could. But overall it's a good product to have.

Fun idea which is useful a lot. Nice to play music or ask a question. Big brother is listening to your conversations. Talk about something and you get emails on the subjects? Interesting! Great for telling you when certain products have shipped and will be arriving!!

Unlike the larger Echo, this device doesn't have a very large speaker or a lot of sound. That being said, it has all the functions of its larger sister device. Works well in my bedroom on nightstand.

Great little Gadget does almost everything the full-size Echo does but at a fraction of the price. Great if you have an Amazon account. No 5th star because I think Google home probably has more overall ability to integrate with other devices in your home, but there is a price difference for that.

I find te Echo Dot to be extremely handy for everyday tasks from a wakeup alarm to kitchen timers etc. Also, being retired, I tend to forget the day/date and she's just a question away! I love her!

Purchased this as a gift for daughter as Christmas present. She loves being able to control the mini device with her voice and her smart phone and it answers back. Perfect gift!

I love this product I have the larger version as well in my living room I bought some of these to place around the house they do so many things and are just really cool if your interested in technology.

This is going to replace my need to Sirius XM weather reports by far. Mine also provides me a background soundtrack whenever I cook. Haven't really explored getting the other apps (Skills) to apply yet.

Echo dot may be small, but it's in the same league as Echo. The sound quality isn't quite as good as it's big sister, but does everything just as good. I may just have to get another Dot for the bedroom!
