This purchase was a gift for a 6 year old girl. I'm told by her parents that she loves the Echo Dot and uses it everyday. I would definitely reccomend the Echo Dot to anyone young or old.

For starts- the recognition is not great. Secondly Amazon pushed this product as convenient for a person to have one in each of their rooms- I bought 5! They do not work well together at all. I have some first generation and the second generation and neither is better. It is not uncommon for both to pick up on your command and before you know it you've got a timer you set to let you know your tea is done steeping going off in the Kitchen and the bathroom. The recognition is okay but there are many things she responds to I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question. These are often things Google now always can answer. If Google home were more compatible with wink and the huge list of things Alexa is then I would hands down buy the Google home. Alexa is okay but far from great!

I now have to dots. I use the new one to have a radio in my garage.This works well for me.

My wife and daughter both love this so much I had to buy mother one. Fun, and necessary for those who want music everywhere with just speaking the song. Suggest getting Google music with it.

This dot works great . You can ask it translation information , to play music to make phone calls , to order stuff . It’s a must have, plus you can’t go wrong at 24.99 !

I was convinced to purchase the dot and I am happy with it. It is just awesome. If you want to play music in a large area, I would not suggest the dot. It works well in a bedroom.

Great to have in the kitchen or living room. You can set timers on it, alarms. Ask what time is it while washing dishes. It's just very convenient to own .

I am delighted to have music in my kitchen while I make dinner... Alexa works beautifully at my voice commands and with Amazon Prime I have access to an amazing variety of music.

Easy to use. Helped our young one with fan/light automation in bedroom. Also story time. Music. And can pause her tv or play bedtime relaxing music. Great overall. Bought a few of these. One has started to lose connectivity randomly but the others are fine.

Alexa works with Nexia and Smartthings which is great cause I have my thermostat with Nexia already but when speaking to Alexa she knows what system to make the adjustment to vs having to load separate apps. I would give it a five if Alexa had the search engine power of google.

We totally love this product. We bought Echo Dot and paired it with our existing Bose Bluetooth speaker. Only issue we have had so far is that when we play songs from our iPhones via Bluetooth on the same speaker, we lose pairing with Dot. The device comes with its own speaker.

When I first got Alexa, I was really excited about her! We first put her in the living room, but since she was right next to the tv and most of the times we are there, well, we are watching tv, she could not hear us very well and I became extremely frustrated and wanted to return her (it was past the 15 days Best Buy allows as their return policy, which btw sucks!) so I decided to change her to our room, we connected her to our Hue light and our Nest thermostat and taught her how to turn off the lights and dim them and all (trust me, was not easy at all!!! A whole odyssey to get here to do that) and now it's so awesome to be sleet and get in bed and just say 'Alexa turn off bedroom lights' 'Alexa change the AC temperature to 70' and not have to do it yourself (this is for lazy people obv) we get a lot more use out of her now than we did the first month we had her and I'm pretty content with it, still needs a lot of work, but for the price is not that bad :)

It's the coolest thing to turn and off anything in or out your home, just as cell phone 10 years ago came to life and its a great asset, the A.I. In years to come will be asking us questions.

I already had a 3rd generation Echo Dot but I wanted another Dot for a different room. I originally had planned to plug this into speakers as it has headphone jack (Google Home Minis do not). I found a better place to use the newly purchased Echo Dot but that required using the internal speaker. I ultimately returned the 2nd gen Dot and purchased a 3rd gen Dot as the audio quality of the internal speaker is better. If you plan on using the Echo Dot with external speakers, save a few dollars and buy the 2nd gen. The 2nd gen is USB powered so you can power it with a standard USB changer, which I find to be handy.

Don't like to keep my phone in the bedroom and don't have a clock. So when I wake up I just ask her what time it is or I can tell her to wake me up at a certain time. It is really cool.

The echo is easy to set up and is fun to use. I have the echo and echo dots in most of my rooms now. I am not sure what functions I will use in the future but at least I will be prepared.

We have several Echo Dots, and Echo Show, and an iHome Alexa enabled alarm clock. They all work seamlessly in our automated home. They are easy to set up and the Alexa App is great!

I have the Amazon Echo and a neighbor bought the Dot just as I was purchasing this as a gift. I am sure my brother-in-law will love the Dot and will end up getting the Echo for the great room.

Best $50 invention ever. The technology is amazing and for $50 this item is a steal. Quick hands free access to any information you can think of. Just speak your command and Alexa responds.

This is way too cool. I have the original Echo and I bought this to add in my living room. Used both Google Home and Echo and this is still better especially at $50 (Though I got it for $30).
