Love love love this echo dot!! Love listening to my choice of music when I’m getting ready for the day. Sooo easy peasy to set up and use!!

Just like everything, this has it's pro's and con's, but the pro's are many and the con's are just annoyances here and there. As for the differences between this and google, they are to be expected. If you are the kind of person that asks a bunch of questions or need to know a bunch of answers, then a google is for you. But if you need to know the weather, turn your ac up or down, or need the answers to general questions like me, then hey, you just got your dream AI. This works great for me and the listening/hearing areas are great. If anything, I'd buy this again... hands down.

This dot is awesome! My son and I asked it for everything. Be warned, with out setting permissions my son has been able to purchase several things without me knowing.

Great gift for young and old. Bought two but plan to pick up one more before Christmas.

the alexa echo dot is a great item for checking weather and playing music. The on board speaker is ok but with a simple patch cord you can connect to a stereo and the sound is awesome.

I own the Alexa Echo and loved it. I bought the Echo Dot for my daughter for Christmas.

I bought this for my 80yr old mother. She loves it. I paired it with a smart plug so she can have Alexa turn her lights on by request. I also set reminders for her.

My grandkids are really enjoying it. The drawback is it requires a lot of applications.

Sometimes tricky to pair but works good. Takes time to put your music on Amazon account

I purchased this item to control my smart home by voice. I can control my entertainment center, Lights, door locks, and thermostat by voice commands. The echo work great.

Use my echo dot all the time. I have mine connected to the surround sound upstairs. I have an Echo in the kitchen that the wife also uses constantly. Easy to set up and even easier to use.

Didn't know much about Alexa until after my adult son got one for the holidays. Saw him use his and had to get one for myself. Great for checking the weather setting alarms and timers Etc

The packaging is small since the Dot is about the size of the palm of your hand. The set-up was pretty simple. The Dot is not a google you can't just ask it questions about everything and it finds you the answer. Instead you have to download the application associated with the Dot and download apps or enable skills you want to program it with. Occasionally you can ask Alexa a question that she has already been programmed with. For instance, "Alexa what is your New Years Resolution?" or "Alexa what is the weather like?" Yes you must always say her name before asking a question. Otherwise she will not respond. It is my understanding the more you use Alexa the more she does. One of the features I like is that Alexa can remind you about your appointments or special events. The Dot does come with a USB Cord but you will need a charger. The volume is nice and music does play well. I would recommend the Dot for a person who has an apartment or small space.

I connect mine to my car. The Echo dot is a must have.

Overall good item. Seemed limited on what it could answer. Took back to try Google out.

Sound quality isn’t the best but works grea5 for background music and Alexa works well.

If you don’t have one, get one. Then you’ll want several. They’re that useful. They are compatible with so many other products. We’ve created a smart home for very little cost.

We have two of these devices and they work great. It pairs with multiple smart devices: TV, lights, and smart plugs. Only thing lacking is it needs specific commands. Overall good product.

Got this to use as a voice command for the Hue bulbs. Have a technical assistance request in with Amazon to resolve for a month now - at the programmer level. So for the Alexa stuff it works fine. For interacting with other devices there are communication issues.
