Easy to use and does a great job throught my home. My daughters loves asking Alexa every question she can think of. The sound is really nice and I can use my apps thrpugh this technology. I loved the new Amazon Echo Plus so much, that I decided to picked up 3 of these Amazon Dots to place and setup through the home. The intercom function is wonderful if my wife needs something when we are on opposite sides of the home. [Alexa call the living room ... Alexa answer ... and the conversation begins ... Alexa hang up]

I have been reading up on the Amazon Echo speaker and the Google Home speaker. I like the idea of the Google Home and how it connects to your account to personalize your experience, but it seems a little intrusive and “big brother”. The Amazon Alexa has been around for much longer, and has more partnerships and connections with other third-party vendors, which at the moment makes it a much more proficient home assistant. Such as lighting and other appliances with smart plugs, home security, etc. The Amazon Echo still connects to your account but is not so intrusive. I also like how the Amazon Echo can be used as an intercom. The Google Home is a little bit more clunky and unsophisticated. In case it’s not obvious, I have both in the same room sitting next to each other. The Alexa microphone picks up my voice and understands more clearly than the Google. As I continue to interact with both of them, I’m sure that one or the other will stand out more than the other. It is kind of funny, to have Alexa talk to Google and have Google respond and vice versa. But for now I like Alexa a little bit better than Google.

I will say, that I didn't really lknow what to expect realistically from Alexa . After getting used to certain commands/skills, I really started liking Alexa. I have a Google home device also and I definitely use Alexa more.

An excellent bundle deal with the TP Link Plug (105) for Black Friday! I got the Echo Dot plus smart plug for someone who is not so technologically savvy. However, she is finding it very user friendly and extremely easy to set up. 10/10 would recommend this to people outside of the millennial generation! Amazon - keep it up!

The Amazon Echo Dot is an excellent, extremely low-cost version of the full-sized Echo. It gives full access to Amazon's Alexa system. The built-in speaker is adequate for spoken interaction but It has the benefit of being able to connect it to your own bluetooth or other powered speaker through it's 3.5mm headphone jack. After connecting a speaker, and with an Amazon Prime account, you are able to access a large number of playlists. The whole family enjoys using it. I have now added one to several rooms in the house. Highly recommended.

Always great asking Alexa interesting questions, playing music, getting news updates just by saying a few words. Keep this by the bed for an alarm and to listen to latest news and traffic status for my journey to the office.

This is an addition to the one we have in the main part of the house. It is fantastic! It is great to be curios about something, ask, and get an immediate answer. I love that it changed the channel on my dish by just asking.

Let me start by saying I loved the Echo Dot so much once I installed it that I immediately went out and bought a second one! It is amazing, controls lights (Phillips Hue), Nest, Smart TV and who knows what else. The Ap has a built in List feature, great for shopping. Everyday I figure out something else the Echo Dot will do, like play rain sounds when I go to bed! The sound quality is not the greatest but for $50 I was not expecting Bose quality sound, but it easily connects to my Bose Bluetooth speaker so what else do you need!

I am still trying to see and explore all the capabilities. The most impressive thing about this how responsive it actually is to your voice commands. It has not misunderstood me yet. It is very quick to respond with the answer to a question, with pretty accurate information. I'm an Apple fan, but this put Siri to shame in terms of quick response. So far I have utilized creating a shopping list, playing music from Amazon Prime, asking the weather, traffic, etc. It was great for all of these tasks. It can also integrate with many home automation tools. The only reason I docked it a star is I just don't know how often I will use this. It's cool, but is it more practical than just pulling out my phone or tablet and finding the same info, only more detailed.

It's really nice to be able to turn on my lights when I have my hands full with bags after work. Only gave it 4 stars because you have to be super specific when asking it to do things, for example, I have to ask it to ask Alexa to ask Vivint to turn the temperature to 66 degrees, rather than just being able to ask Alexa to.

Planning to get google mini but when I saw it also on sale tried to buy one and tested, works well and easy to set up.I bought additional 13 more + 1 show I like it. I gave those 10 dots as a gift hope they like it as I do.

I am amazed, many years ago I worked in voice recognition and the performance of this device was a dream. It picks up your voice over long distances and is very forgiving to what you say. This technology has a great future.

I got this Dot along with the fire stick for $59.99. The dot is everything I didn't know I needed. You can pair it with any speaker with bluetooth if you want a bigger sound and you command it with your voice. I'm impressed.

At first I was skeptical about the usefulness and benefit of this item but I bought when it was on sale and figured why not since it's really affordable. Now, I'm going crazy trying to make my house a smart house because I love how this product ties it all together. It makes things very convenient and it just plain works... hears what I say properly 95% of time, many products now work with Alexa, works as intercom if you have another Alexa product in the house... just all around great value considering the low price.

Nice sound and easy to set up with the whole house.

I bought 3 Dots during a sale. My daughter was having surgery and I wanted to use them as intercoms and so she could get information or listen to music. My 12 year old son also got one and the last one is on my desk. We love being able to ask Alexa to play certain music. You can also ask Alexa questions, ask about the weather, ask her to tell you a joke, etc. My son's favorite thing to do is ask Alexa to 'roast' him. This is the funniest thing, but warning, her roasts are not G rated. Bad words will be bleeped though.

The dot does quite a bit for the money. I use it mostly to listen to streaming radio stations through a separate bluetooth speaker, set/hear calendar items, and get news & weather info. The Alexa system is not quite as smart as Google's and lacks context based natural language processing. You have to be somewhat specific with your voice commands, but hey, it's only $50!! Haven't tried any of the smart home features yet, but plan to in the near future. My only major gripe: it doesn't work well with multiple bluetooth speakers. You can pair them, but switching between multiple speakers is a huge pain and must be done from the app. Autoreconnect also complicates matters greatly! Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with it considering how little it costs.

This item is great! It is so useful for everyday tasks. I use it for traffic, weather, as a timer. To make "to do" lists, play music, tell jokes, etc. etc. I'm always finding new things it can do. It's so worth the price!

This is my fourth dot. I now have my house covered with Alexa. I also have an original Echo and a Show. Obviously the sound for music isn't that great, but they do pair nicely with a Bluetooth speaker. Highly recommended.
